    Hey mate, love your work. I’m looking at getting a pack myself for longer trips and the possibility of a NZ hunt, I’m curious to know what makes you chose Exo or SG over other brands like Moroka 30, spika or even hunters Elements new pack system? Thanks mate

      Cheers mate!
      I chose Exo for the build quality and pack features. SG offers the same, just a slightly different layout but I was very impressed after doing the tests in the video.
      Nothing against other brands you mentioned, but in my experience with them and with mates that have them or had them, the quality just isn't the same nor the comfort, durability or versatility. But from a value for money standpoint, they're possibly a better option for a lot of people.
      I also haven't had the opportunity to test the new Moroka30 pack, which seems to be a huge step up from their previous packs. Hopefully one day because they look quite good!
      At the end of the day all I can advise is to try as many packs on as you can, chuck some weight in them and have a play around with the features and functions and see what will work best for you 🍻

    How tall are you, if you don't mind? I'm about 173cm so not a giant by any stretch and my game plan had been to get the K4 with the shortest frame option. Stone Glacier doesn't seem to come with different height frames, unless I'm missing them somewhere on the website. That like adrianchilds mentioned a few months ago, I wonder if that will also solve the head tilt clearance issue.
    A little late but great video to compare the packs, I appreciate it!

      Cheers! I'm 178cm tall, so I think the shortest option would probably suit you well. I love my K4!

    Have you had any experience with the Moroka 30 packs? Not many reviews on them that I could find. Similar price range but made in Australia.

      Limited experience with the old models and wasn't a fan. The new model looks like a big improvement, but haven't had a chance to play with one yet. Hopefully one day soon!

    They all handled the weight well, which would handle bulky, heavy items better, something like a large hindquarter? The "meat shelf" on the SG pack looked to be much smaller than that of the Exo Mtn. packs, which perhaps means that it wouldn't wrap around a bulky item as well.

      @glennmuir5617 I felt the K4 handled the heavy weight the best, but I did love the SGs head clearance and overall I think either the SG or K4 you can't really go wrong 👌

    Have you tried a Kuiu pack? I’ve got one and rate it, I’m off to Canada and Alaska and I’m thinking about a K4 or SG pack, how do they compare with Kuiu? Are they that much better? Thanks Tony.

      I haven't played with then a lot mate, but from all the pack comparison videos and reviews I've seen/read and a couple mates owning them previously, Kuiu doesn't seem to be in quite the same league as Exo or SG. But they're also cheaper so to a lot of people the extra cost may not be worth it 🍻

    Great comparison mate, just one comment re the EXO K2 and K3. I own both and the K3 doesn't protrude as high as the K2 above shoulder height so the issue you were having with the K2 isnt an issue on the K3

    • @tonygillahan
      @tonygillahan  Год назад

      Thanks mate. The K3 is exactly the same as K2 frame, I owned both and was still very much a head clearance issue. The only difference with the K3 is you can minorly change frame height by flipping the little stays at the bottom of the frame 🍻

    • @wayne6089
      @wayne6089 Год назад

      @@tonygillahan I'm not sure about that as I have them both my K2 and K3 here in front of me and my K3 is about 100mm lower than the K2,

    • @tonygillahan
      @tonygillahan  Год назад +1

      @wayne6089 did you possibly get a shorter frame for the K3?
      K2 is 25"
      K3 has short option of 24-25.5" or tall option 25-26.5"

    • @wayne6089
      @wayne6089 Год назад +1

      @@tonygillahan I agree Tony, thinking about it I reckon thats the most logical explanation, I only noticed it after watching your video when I put both packs side by side. For me its not a big issue, I cannot believe how well these packs perform when I strap a Sambar Stag Hindquarter on and carry it out, keeps old blokes like me in the game

      @wayne6089 makes those heavy loads so much easier hey! Worth their weight in gold. Once you wear a good pack you can't go back!

    Adjust the k4 pack to your frame and you’ll have that head clearance your looking for

    Just watching the video and looking at the packs, the load lifter angles between the K4 and the stone glacier are certainly different, the K4 alot higher. Explains why it seems to carry the heavier weight better, and why head clearance is better in the stone glacier, if you dropped the frame stay size on the K4 to match the height of the load lifters on the stone glacier I reckon your head clearance differences between the 2 packs would be bugger all? As you mentioned I reckon if you messed about with each pack and set them all up the same, you would come out with the same result. All being good quality packs that your going to be happy with 👍🏼

      Yeah mate was great to test them side by side, left us all feeling good about our packs and how well they all work!
      Love how well both brands crossover from light weight small day packs to large heavy haulers.
