I just bought a 3300, it's still in shipping - I'm looking to jump out within a month and a half for a Pacific Crest Trail through hike - so I'm trying to "know the gear" before I get it.
When there's something in between the pack and frame, the pack is attached to the frame differently, correct? The two tension locks at the bottom don't get re-attached in that scenario, right? And the downward-facing pockets on the bag don't slide back over whatever they slid off of? (Kinda cool that works, it must have taken a bit of engineering to get it to work two different ways.)

That sounds like an awesome trip you have in the works! When you utilize the load shelf correctly there will still be 10 connection points that secure the bag to frame. Two bottom compression straps, three side compression straps on both sides of the bag, and two connection points that go from top of bag to top of frame. If you have more questions please reach out to Customer Service as they will be the best and most timely response!

Did you carry this massive pack for that hike? Neat if so.

Looks like a Tikka with a carbon barrel in a MDT HNT chassis.
