Flawless first look at this! Totally can’t wait to get my hands on this and surprisingly it’s been the most eagerly anticipated collected edition for me ever since I have been picking up all the Hickmanverse x-titles weekly... I’ll forgive the glued binding because of this 😬

Near Mint Condition thanks to marvel unlimited I got to read the entirety of Hickmans marvel run and that man can right a dense ole tale on a epic scale. I would love a Marvel omni set collecting it all.
This has been my most anticipated book of the year, I can't wait to have it in my hands before new years. Either I'm buying it or someone's getting it for me for christmas.

Damn I'm pumped for this. As a student of the 90's animated show and beginning with the Joe Mad era of X-Men, I'd fallen off the X-Men and their constant reboots/crossover events and this has me so excited to get back into following my favourite characters. I'm hoping all the 6 X-titles get this OHC treatment too. Work your magic with Marvel Omar. Lol!

@@connorcarruthers1024 also the variance not being given a full page at that price point is also pretty ridiculous I remember not even a decade ago a book of this size would have been like $40 and it's even more egregious and unacceptable when you look at Dark Horse for example puts out books with better build quality and comprable page count for cheaper. Oh well

The Mold It doesn’t matter who pays full price and who doesn’t but that cover price is way too high. Me personally I always try and support my
LCS which 95% of the time involves me paying full price. I always support my LCS even when I pay more than on IST, Cheap Graphic Novels, or Chapters.
I love the artwork on this book!
I dont usually buy collections like this if I already have it in singles but I might just have to make an exception for this, I loved this story so so so much.
The story made me happy to be an X-men fan again!

11:57 glue binding on a "hardcover" is a no no, it is 2019 and if comic companies want to cut corners to make a buck I might as well stop buying.
I get why people are disapointed. But as you could probably tell from the video it doesn't detract from enjoying the story and the art isn't affected by it.
Such a weird decision with the binding. Kind of disappointing to be honest. Wonder if it was a cost-saving measure, or they had to do glued to get the OHC out by the end of the year.
I thought the same when Avengers No Surrender came out, but that book really is a great OHC.
I'm excited to get this, I pre-ordered it. I got the first issues of House and Powers, but couldn't get the second issues and I wasn't going to pay $20 each so I've just been waiting for this to come out. I've been getting into comics the past couple of months and your videos have been great at giving me suggestions on what to read and making sense of all the different books. Great video as always!

Wow, gorgeous looking book under the dust jacket. I read it all in digital, and even picked up a few of the floppy variants, but it only took a couple of issues to realize that this OHC was probably going to be the most pre-order-worthy purchase of 2019. If somebody ever asks me to "sell me on X-Men", I'm handing them this book first. Thank you for the preview Omar!

The binding is disappointing, but maybe they had to do it that way to get it out so fast.

Day one purchase for me. I’ve been waiting for this since it was announced. I haven’t read any of HOX/POX, but I will be. And I’ll be grabbing the DOX TPBs. I love how those will be collected.

Near Mint Condition in the past I’ve read a lot of X-men here or there. Mostly event/cross over TPBs back in the day.
I grabbed the Grand Design books off of IST to give me a crash course before I dive into HOXPOXDOX

Great Review 👍 I really love this story. I haven't read an X-Men title consistently since Remender's Uncanny X-force and Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men. I am a huge fan of the Claremont days. It's ironic to me how Hickman turned the X-Men into a way better version of the Inhumans considering how Marvel wanted the Inhumans to be the X-Men. I'm intrigued by the retcons. Hickman takes forever to build his story but it's worth it when it's all said and done.

The binding being glued and Variant covers not being full size is kind of disappointing. Do they ever update these hardcovers down the line?
Not really, perhaps with another printing, but that will be years.

Added it to my wishlist before this video was out, on ur upcoming for December vids saw it and immediately added it. Will be my first time reading it was gonna pick it up and follow it in single issues cause I heard such great things but fell behind. After this though do all the other x-titles (X-force, marauders, fallen angels, dawn of x, new mutants) have to be read in a particular order or are they all stand-alone, no order needed?
Those can be read in chunks. No particular reading order for those.
Haven't read any of this yet, but I'll be picking it up! I've been waiting months for this!

Preordered this in September, which I never do, but the deal being offered was too good to pass up for me. Never read this in singles so I was happy to see this get a collection so fast.
I'm indifferent about the format for all the variants. I don't hate it but I would have liked full pages for the 2 page DM variant cover to offer it for everybody and maybe a few other full pages.
Where do you pre-order from? I'm used to waiting for release day but it would be nice to be able to pre-order some.
@@bigjohnnyy4488 I'm in Canada and order through Chapters/Indigo online. The release dates for places like this are usually a week or 2 later than the release date at comic book shops, but depending on the sale it can be worth waiting to get the savings. If you're in the US your best bet is IST and barring that maybe check out Amazon or Barnes&Nobel.

Yeah, it was £22.50, which is around $31, and the only defect is a black marker spot on the outside top edge of the pages. Absolute bargain. Going to see how I get on with it then nay dive into Dawn of X. The X of Swords book you put a video up of a little bit ago looks interesting, although I guess I should see if I click with the story. Only recently found your channel and really enjoying it and getting back into comic reading, so thanks.

Ordered mine I can’t wait. I just figured in regards to Hickman’s x-men run and the whole X-universe I’ll just get the Hardcovers/trades I’ll save some space. I don’t mind the spine on the book as at least Marvel is more streamlined the same marvel logo and it’s not DC where they have schizophrenia where one hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing and change spines like the bloody breeze. lol. Love the vid Omar and love near mint!!!

This look great, but I find myself wanting the Geoff Johns Green Lantern Omnis which will mean waiting on other stuff for a bit. So many good comics it's hard to choose!

Leaning more on the regular cover than DM. Wish the variants were full page, too many recent marvel paperbacks and hardcovers are doing that for my liking but I understand in this one case there were way too many.
I would have been okay if the toy variants were like this.
@@NearMintCondition I think the Vision hardcover is 1/3 extras and the Thanos Wars Omni has over 100 pages, which makes it strange they went this route here.
It's a damn shame and waste to see all the Skottie Young covers and Mark Brooks spread that small.

I was expecting something more High Quality & yet we get this half-assed printed edition!? Really had high expectations for this book "It's an amazing arc and deserves top treatment! So far I've only seen Marvel do it for Wolverine goes to hell omnibus, but they deff need to keep doing that! From the looks of your review, the paper looks like flimsy comic magazine quality and GLUED BINDING!!? Severely let down by this, but THANK YOU FOR YOUR AMAZING REVIEW!! ;)
Pre-ordered and can't wait to re-read it! I started reading X-Men again thanks to this, because there definitely some bad stories in the past decade or so. I'm really enjoying the new Mutant status quo.

Usually Hickman has better control over his book but bit disappointed to see the connecting cover reduce to thumbnail as well.

Same as the marvel paper stock on omnis lately.
For the price, this book should have had seen binding. You pay this price for 12 issues? I expect high quality. And that means sewn binding in my world. But with that said, I am still buying this book. Never read it yet, and i am def looking forward to reading it.

I’m debating on getting this and putting it aside to read later. I’ve only been reading comics for about a month and only been reading Batman and DC comics. With the new reboot of X-men I am really interested in reading it, especially because I can read it as it is released each issue. Problem is since I am so new to comics and have so many stories to read I think I don’t want to start a new series. I don’t know if I can keep up with marvel X-men while learning the DC universe. After all I only have so much time in the day to read.
I have a bad habit of buying comics that are issue #1 because I think they will be worth something one day. Something I need to stop lol.
LOL buy what you want and read it. :) That's my suggestion. Don't let them pile on too much.
I'm reading this now. There is too much to the x-men so this is the brand new introduction to the x-men that I want to read but I also can go to the old x-men and hopefully I will understand that easier after reading this.
Certainly getting this book (even though I'm not a huge fan of the new status quo to be honest). Also hopeful that they will collect all the ongoing X-titles that this started in OHCs as well (since it's all part of one big story supervised by Hickman) but judging by them pushing paperbacks... I dunno. What I am not very happy about is multiple covers. Are we really doing this for OHCs now... what's next TPB covers. Now as to why i am annoyed is that if I want DM variant and order from InStock the insured and "tracking number" added international shipping is like 50+ bucks and up, while cheaper versions don't even provide tracking or refunds and my packages DID get lost before. And then there's Amazon that will prolly bump the book... ah the struggles US based don't have *sigh*
I believe there have been OHCs with DMs before and Masterworks do it every single time. As far as ordering online. CGN and IST have always taken care of me.
@@NearMintCondition ah yes, I forgot about the Masterworks. never collected them myself before, the first one I'll be getting is The Dazzler one actually (cause I'm a sucker for muties). And it's like Instock domestic and international services are two completely separate beasts . They do pack your comics well but if it gets lost they'll do fuck all to help you. And one time they sent me one of those damaged labelled comics instead of a new one by accident, then they denied it and it took me like 2 weeks for them to finally admit their mistake.

What does direct market mean?
Places like comic book stores or Cheap Graphic Novels.
If this is the start of a new age for the x-men, then was the Avenger by hickman a new age for the Avengers? How about a quick video listing all the new ages for most or all heroes/villains? So I can buy those runs.

Omar, this is way too high a price for a glued binding. It isn't about gutter loss or readability, it's a matter of build quality. A $30 cover price would be fair for what amounts to a stack of single sheets glued at one end, with two boards glued to that. But $60 for a TPB with boards?, no way. This reminds me of Image asking $50 for the glued Monstress Deluxe; it's a rip off, and a sign Marvel believes readers will pay a premium price for non premium production values. This is now off my list, thanks for the preview and saving me from the same bad feeling that the Monstress debacle engendered.
I'm conflicted too. I can see by the pages Omar turned this is nowhere near as bad as Monstress or the DC as he likes to call them mousetraps. I love this story and I think I want that DM cover.

For 12 issues of Daniel Way's Deadpool? Yes. For 12 issues of the best X-men comics in the last decade? Maybe. It really depends on the buyer, right?
