"One of these screws is slightly longer...and I don't know which one it is." Story of my life working on Nintendo consoles. I always find out after I've drilled a hole through the shell. Great video and great find with the raspberry pi!
I love picking stuff up on ebay that is listed as faulty and sold for a cheap price... and the fault is a silly little thing that is easy to fix. My favorite one was a guy selling a Panasonic portable CD player for a few bucks. The listed fault was "Defective, will not play CDs. Keeps saying HOLD on the screen." The guy sold it as defective because the hold switch was turned ON. He had multiple CD players listed just like that.
I have to admit to feeling a little guily about the RPi being working. The seller was gutted when I asked it what was wrong with it, because I couldn't find a fault.
@@PhilipBryden Well unfortunately that's how it goes sometimes. I suppose it's better for the seller to have a small foul up for a relatively cheap item like a raspberry pi. At least it wasn't a million dollar painting for 20 bucks. I messaged my seller with the CD players that said HOLD on the screen. Tried to be polite and explained what was going on. He totally ghosted me. Months later, I checked and he still has one of those players listed for very cheap. The description says "Powers on but keeps showing "hold" on the display. Cant get it to work." So I don't feel bad at all for this one seller.
Well Done Sir! I Need to find a Genesis, Mine was Lost to a Random Garage Sale. I wanna find a dead one and do this as well, clean it up and make it a nice Showpiece. Thanks for subscribing. This one is in nice condition, a lucky find. Hope you can find one too. I'd like to add the Mega CD too, but they're expensive here in the UK.
the metal piece you took out is a reinforcement for a potential hardware add-on. See those PSone LCD screen that plug on the back of the console? The PSone has those metal bits too just for that. Really not a Megadrive guy but I don't believe that they've ever been needed for any add-on. Pretty safe to bin.
Ah interesting. I did manage to get the piece back inside. It's odd because I've opened a few of these and don't remember them falling out before. Thanks for the information.

Thankfully I haven't (yet) popped a screw though the top of a case. Had a few broken screw posts though
