ZOMBIE MOD is literally my whole childhood and i still play it today. I can confidently say that this old mod is literally better than most of the zombie games nowadays. I would definitely love to watch a whole video about the history and everything it took to create the mod. Good video btw!
One gamemode that was really fun and I havent seen mentioned in this comment section is Warcraft 3(or war3ft). You could pick from a ton of classes(loosely inspired by warcraft 3 ofc) each of which gave you cool unique special abilities and you could earn xp to level up your abilities and when you reached level 6 you would unlock an ultimate which was an extra powerful ability for which you had to bind a button to use and had a cooldown. One example of a class that I still remember was the Human Alliance whose abilities were giving you more hp when you spawned, a chance to lock the enemies hit in place for a second, making your character transparent and harder to see and its ultimate was teleporting the wherever you were aiming. This gamemode was kinda annoying in a standard counter strike game because you could easily get killed nearly instantly with some of these abilities, however with deathmatch enabled this was a TON of fun and it made deathmatch even more chaotic and fast-paced. Sadly today there dont seem to be many active war3 servers not full of bots. Another combination of gamemodes which I really like is surf+gungame. I played a ton on this one gungame server with only surf maps which was insanely fun. Sadly the server is long gone. The same server creators of the above server had a zombie plague server with a slight twist. Zombies respawned whenever they were killed. It was called Zombie Respawn. Ive always enjoyed this spinoff more than traditional modern zombie plague because oftentimes the first few zombies just get dominated because they are basically unable to move when everyone is shooting them which is really annoying. Zombies respawning made the humans actually have to hide in hard to reach places and it made playing as a zombie so much more enjoyable. One last gamemode I would like to mention is paintball mode. Ive played this mode for too many years and I still come back to it. Its a mode where instead of shooting normal bullets, you shoot projectiles that deal 100dmg which can be dodged with good movement (also paintball guns have 100% accuracy no recoil). Naturally this means that when you shoot at an enemy you have to consider projectile travel speed, where that enemy will be by then, which way they are moving and you also have to think about dodging their projectiles by changing movement direction, jumping etc. You can spread projectiles over an entire area to maximize your chances of hitting enemies. You can prefire contact points. Two good players dueling each other can involve a lot of cool mindgames and prediction. There is a lot of skill that can go into this gamemode and its simplicity makes me feel like it would work well as an esport(wishful thinking of course). This is the only gamemode I mentioned which still has active servers with decently high players counts. You can search for them on gametracker.
I was wondering why I had Warcraft 3 sound bites in my game folder, seems like I joined one of those servers few times as a kid, couldn't understand what is going on and then left :p There was also a Call Of Duty version of it, with CoD related perks and such.
I was just about to comment on Warcraft servers. Oh boy when i was a kid in cs 1.6 i used to play it a lot. You had 8 or 9 classes, you had to grind for xp and level up each class individually, every class had different abilities for instance the Human class let you teleport but your were blind for 3 seconds, the Undead class gave you low gravity and the ultimate is kamikadze, which was very funny when you rush someone and take yourself and him by exploding. I don't really remember the other classes but all of them had unique abilities. One had a visible bubble that guarded from bullets for several seconds, another one was basically all the damage you receive go back towards the guy that shot you. I never played WOW but the cs version got me hooked really good.
There was a similar gamemode to that one being the superhero mod. reaching max level and duking it out as gambit but with punisher guns that can become invisible.
I also found gg+surf very fun. Servers like that are gone now. One game mode I found very fun is also cs dm+jetpack in a cs assault variants map, super fun
An interesting note to point at is that Biohazard was the first zombie mode that was made for CS1.6 in 2007 IIRC. It was like the regular zombie mode but with a slower pace and slightly different mechanics and less content. Pretty fun for its time.
@@albanesdesempregado7080 Correct I was playtesting this mod as it was being developed. Zombie escape game mode came later. The zombie mode started primarily on cs_office, we were experimenting with lighting, to complete darkness and survivors just using flash lights to see. Extremely fun days!
Wait wait wait.. Did you really forget about "Scoutzknivez"?! A mode popular enough to become a featured mode in CS:GO (under the name Flying Scoutsman)
as an honourable mention, paintball mode can be added in the sequel of this video. i've never understood the sense of adding a paintball system and replacing it with real guns but it was hella fun and underrated.
Broo I remember when I played on such a cool, unique paintball server. At the beginning of the round you could pick standard smg paintball gun, scout paintball gun with faster projectile speed and scope and also shotgun shooting 6-8 bullets with wider spread. If you were mvp of the round you were getting paintball m249. Each weapon with unique paintball model. This server no longer exists but I used to have so much fun playing it.
@@szmidutm8556 same man, paintball was one of my favourites, I played on server with the same guns as you mentioned, but it was hosted in Bulgaria. It was called Ro-Ni Paintball. There was even inaccuracy to the guns and the balls started to go down after some distance.
I remember a really odd gamemode i played years ago (like 2012 or 2013). That gamemode was "paintball" and it had it's own maps with the prefix "pb_". The gamemode was bassically that, CTs and Ts had paintball weapons that killed in one shot, but the weapons weren't the default CS weapons that shoot piantballs, no, the mode had it's own custom weapons. You had the pistol, the smg, the assault rifle, the shotgun and the sniper. Every weapon was an insta kill but the thing was that it wasn't hitscan like the the normal weapons but the paintballs were actual entities with a model and everything that needed to hit the enemy player much like the nailguns in Team Fortress Classic. Man do i miss that mod but it seems that it doesn't exist anymore or likely the few servers that still host it have no players.
Hope you can make a video about the Furien mode. I used to play it so much and remeber having tons of fun. CTs are normal with maybe some hp and armor boosted while T are aliens with high speed and low gravity, can stick to walls and if they don't move they're invisible. They can only use knives tho! It was super fun
In eastern Europe, Diablo and CoD mods were the shit back in the day. Non-stop, 24/7 grinding, ridiculous classes, stats and skills made me play 12 hours a day on the weekends, each weekend back in primary school. Those were the times xD
I'm not too fond with the movement modes but the ones that I'll always enjoy are deathmatch, gun game and of course zombie mode. I spent hundreds of hours playing those back in the day especially zombie mode when it was trendy back in 2008-2012 where the maps were cool and dark as f*** and the zombies were the ones from Half-Life 2.

I liked superhero mod a lot too and it was rather popular for some time although it steadily decreased in popularity and now probably next to one plays it and you would have to look under a rock and tree to even find such a server. Rather sad when I think about it. Warcraft3FT was probably the most popular mode though.
I would often enjoy partaking in the occasional low gravity game during 1.6 days, probably the easiest mod to do. It worked well with some maps (the mice/rats types were good) more than others.
i know a server called Awesome Cars, it has drivable cars, boats, planes, helicopters, tanks. there are many gamemodes you probably havent played yet on there
Warcraft FT3 Mod was a big fun. You had to choose a class which had different skills and ultimates. Human and Undead were my favourites. You earned XP and you can use to upgrade your skills. I don't remember exactly which class had it, but there was the Invisibility skill that you can use to troll players.
Hey man I just found out a this video and went on a rampage watching all cs video related. From learning new tricks and facts, to reminiscing happily with a touch of sadness and nostalgia knowing those good times will never come back. It really hit on the spot. I love all the content, effort, research, and love you have for this game! Keep it up!
There was another unpopular mode where you only have grenades and the map is filled with tiles with glass floor. So you try to either kill your opponent with HE damage or try to break the floor under him so he falls and dies. There were only 2 or 3 maps on that game mode that i remember, some youtube videos with bad quality as well but it was really fun.
People seem to forget that the first zombie mod came out in *2004!* I remember playing it, it was absolutely broken gameplay wise LMAO. Then came Mystic Death's Zombie Infection, Cheap_Suit's Biohazard and ultimately MeRcyLeZZ' Zombie Plague.
Love your videos, thank you! I wish you had more subscribers or viewers!! I remember running away in a zombie gamemode to reach a helicopter when I was younger, that was fun. Also would love to see you expand on the zombie gamemode as you've said in the video. Also a shame you didn't cover Pokemod, it was one of my favorites!
another popular CS community gamemodes that I vividly remember as a kid was playing pokemod, zombie basebuilding and scout knifez. Wished they could implement those type of gamemodes back into CS2 community servers
I remember seeing maps for this one niche gamemode, its called "tennis" or something like that, both sides have only knifes and grenades to pick up and you just chuck explosives over the wall. The wall was transparent so you could see and predict the incoming grenade or where to throw yours. Also, some maps had breakable floor, which made it all that more challenging with limited space to move around in. Another map that could been its own gamemode was about digging through breakable blocks to reach other team. I assume the goldsource had hard limit on such when comes to map making, so it never picked up.
Rarely some zombie servers also had unbreakable one shot kill laser mines for both teams. Available in some base builder and zombie plague. Turned the game into mostly peeking and shooting. Though the lasermine did have a bug where if you put your own laser on top of the enemies laser perfectly, you could walk through without dying. And also if you put a laser under you while crouching and then remove the said laser whilst holding jump, you'd go flying.
Zombie mode was my childhood Zm_deko2 was the greatest zombie map ever Author literally just slammed whatever cool shit he liked there and it was amazing 😂
If you're interested to play classic zombie mod you can play on mine that I've created 193.33.176.42:27070 Server have only 6 slots because it is too costful to buy more for me now, but if you want to play I will leave it here :D
There was a Russian Zombie server that I used to play (despite having high ping) It was called Siras Zombie back in 2008, It has an unique zombie mode plus It was very simple unlike the zombie plague mode (VIP things). I wished if there was a such mode in west EU servers.
i was playing a lot on classic zombies which plague isn t.the classic one is with the lasers no powerups it was unique as you would trap spots on the map with lasers to keep zombies out but zombies also had lasers so they would trap you in a corner and kill you off with their lasers
There was one game mode that used to be my fav back in the days, the original name of the mod was "cache-cache" and all the T's had to find spots on the map to hide while 1 or 2 CTs had to search for them for a limited amount of time, if the CTs were unable to find you then you would have been the CT for the next round. The T's only had knifes and could use /inviz to become invisible when CTs came close to their spot (but ur name could still be seen if they were pointing at ur direction). Would love to find another active server to play it.
The basic zombie mode, where the CTs run to hiding spots, there were 4 types of grenades, a simple buying option and allthe zombies had that one half life model. This shit was the best.
I remember these servers from SKe clan, they literally had a server for every single mod to exist lol (saddly they disappeared back in 2014) Here are some forgotten mods: Super Soldier (double jumping, switching to knife made you run quite fast and turn transparent, very fun tho!) Nightcrawlers (4 players turned invisble with noclip on, only way to see them is shooting them so humans had to guess where were before getting slashed) Trouble in Terrorist Town (kinda new tho) Super Heroe (stuff like super jump, strength and so) Warcraft (never got to play it but it used to be 32/32 all the time lol) Zombie Hell (humans vs zombie bots, there were also headcrabs and a zombie boss with a lot of hp, humans had to level up to buy better weapons and also could buy and upgrade turrets which was very cool)
Deam, I remember when I tried to play hide and seek, I was really bad at it, however I always admired players who could master movement in this mode. I was jealous of their parkour skills and amazed when seeing cool way of escaping a ct.
There's a couple of communities I'll miss forever here in Argentina as my favorite places to play Jailbreak, Surf and Deathrun. There's also a community that's still alive today if I'm correct, called LNJ, running a bunch of Zombie Plague servers but HEAVILY modded to the specific taste of their admins. I remember it fondly, but it's kinda hard to go in today due to the amount of reset points and levels veterans have, which makes new players an easy target on both teams.
@@originalog6995 but zombies had the jump option they would charge and jump at them you would get a hit or two at max but you would fuck up their momentum and get them down or in a really baad spot
Please mention minigame maps next time (idk any for cs 1.6 but there was plenty of them for css)! Oh, and zombie run/zombie escape! Some of those maps were really well made! (again, its more of a css thing imo)
Brazilians will remember of the PIPA MOD (or Kite mode) Kites used to be very popular between kids and teenagers here in Brazil, there are still some servers with a good amount of players playing Pipa mod to this day There is a game mode called Zombie Hell that is basically PVE zombie mode, where the zombies are bots trying to stab you. The best iteration I've seen of this mod was in a server called DSK if I'm not mistaken but it's down now, unfortunately.
One sidenote is that you dont always have to riot to win in jailbreak, you can listen to what the warden says until youre the last man standing, and when that happens you just /lr to start a duel with the warden and you win server money if you can kill the warden in a duel
I would mention furien or assasin mode, when you are assasin with high speed and jump boost and when you dont move you are invisible, ct*s have nades that can slow you down and detect you when you are invisible + campture the flag is awesome
What you said is just a tip of an iceberg. There are plenty of other cs 1.6 mods (for example diablo mod, football, base builder, only awp, cod mod, capture the flag, Battlefield mod)
Zombie escape was just something else for me. I still want to play it but when css steam support started being a thing i couldn't play because i didnt have the game in my library
Favourite mod was the Trouble in Terrorist Town server run by Allied Gamers (changed its name to Girl Gam3rs later on). Had the most fun in that community.
jailbreak was the best for me. I used to play it with my lil bro. We used to play on a server called Fragaholics. The owner and admins were super chill and such a good community. One day it came to an end but best time i had ever.
In hungary there was a server group for a very long time named Diwat. Early 2010, maked a server, what is actually Kz and gungame at the same time. If not enough player in the server, the admin, or the player make a vote, to change the server gungame to Kz, and when we have enough player for a good gungame makes reverse. And by the Diwat, i played 2 mod that I have not seen anywhere else, the first: is the Furion i think, second: they make a battle royal game mod and a map, what is realy fun, but years ago the servers are down becouse they didn't have enough player. And 1 more think: i played HNS, but only that mode, when the terrorist is took the form of an object and if the CT shoots, but not for the terrorists they died after some shoots.
I used to hunt, this very uniqe game mode, called American Footbal, this was very rare already back in the day, and had very few players in it but was hella fun for me

Some of these game modes are more beginner-friendly than the regular CS gameplay. I played more death match than vanilla CS as a kid. I also played lots of Zombie Mod.

in quarantine era, i just can't stop myself playing assault only deathmatch+capture the flag server in 1.6... nice upload by the way.
It felt so good when I saw that ur playing gun game in Lithuanian server lmoa
omg u just reminded me that i loved zombie base builder, i forgot about that mode, nostalgia hits hard now.
I remember spending a lot of time on minigame servers which basically combined many of these gamemodes to one server. fun times.
another popular CS community gamemodes that I vividly remember as a kid was playing pokemod, zombie basebuilding and scout knifez.
I assume the goldsource had hard limit on such when comes to map making, so it never picked up.
thank you for reminding me of the golden age, I know all these mods and played them back then when i was kiddo
Aa for Zombie modes, right now it's impossible to have a server with at least 3 or less features from other games
My favorite was the Warcraft III mod
Zombie mode. the first and my Favorite custom gamemode in cs
Zombie mode was my childhood
Zm_deko2 was the greatest zombie map ever
Author literally just slammed whatever cool shit he liked there and it was amazing 😂
If you're interested to play classic zombie mod you can play on mine that I've created 193.33.176.42:27070
Server have only 6 slots because it is too costful to buy more for me now, but if you want to play I will leave it here :D
There was a Russian Zombie server that I used to play (despite having high ping) It was called Siras Zombie back in 2008, It has an unique zombie mode plus It was very simple unlike the zombie plague mode (VIP things).
I wished if there was a such mode in west EU servers.
i was playing a lot on classic zombies
which plague isn t.the classic one is with the lasers no powerups
it was unique as you would trap spots on the map with lasers to keep zombies out but zombies also had lasers so they would trap you in a corner and kill you off with their lasers
Could you make a video about the CS Xbox/Leaked CZ maps? Nobody's ever talked about them from what I can see.
If you were able to play Warc3, pokemon, and superhero servers back back in the days, it was one greatest memories growing up! Feeling old hah!
1:11 I liked that scream.
Atix_helicopter, the zombie mod map with the blackhawk at the end is legendary.
The basic zombie mode, where the CTs run to hiding spots, there were 4 types of grenades, a simple buying option and allthe zombies had that one half life model. This shit was the best.
finally a word about zm and ze modes! I'm just glad i grew up playing those.
Oh man was this refreshing to watch. All the memories came back.
I remember these servers from SKe clan, they literally had a server for every single mod to exist lol (saddly they disappeared back in 2014)
Here are some forgotten mods:
Super Soldier (double jumping, switching to knife made you run quite fast and turn transparent, very fun tho!)
Nightcrawlers (4 players turned invisble with noclip on, only way to see them is shooting them so humans had to guess where were before getting slashed)
Trouble in Terrorist Town (kinda new tho)
Super Heroe (stuff like super jump, strength and so)
Warcraft (never got to play it but it used to be 32/32 all the time lol)
Zombie Hell (humans vs zombie bots, there were also headcrabs and a zombie boss with a lot of hp, humans had to level up to buy better weapons and also could buy and upgrade turrets which was very cool)
played every single one and loved every single one.
also honorable mentions: minigame, soocerjam, dodgeball, nade only w/ glass floors, TTT
Deam, I remember when I tried to play hide and seek, I was really bad at it, however I always admired players who could master movement in this mode. I was jealous of their parkour skills and amazed when seeing cool way of escaping a ct.
Trikz zombie slide climb dodgeball multigames gungame cs source was an amazing ride i rly miss it
There's a couple of communities I'll miss forever here in Argentina as my favorite places to play Jailbreak, Surf and Deathrun.
I spent my childhood playing zombie and knife, oh man.. The MEMORIES!
Jet packs were so stupid op
zm and ze memories hit harder than a shot of whisky
@@originalog6995 but zombies had the jump option
they would charge and jump at them you would get a hit or two at max but you would fuck up their momentum and get them down or in a really baad spot
6:48 the guy with sickle strafin so sick
Hey DeZolance, what is the name of the map shown at 1:32? I like the Sonic-style textures it has.
Please mention minigame maps next time (idk any for cs 1.6 but there was plenty of them for css)! Oh, and zombie run/zombie escape! Some of those maps were really well made! (again, its more of a css thing imo)
Did play a lot of CS back in early 2000 and only now I learned that fy stands for Fight Yard :D
I spent so much time in 2007-2010 playing zombie escape lmao. Another fun mode was "sliderace"
Brazilians will remember of the PIPA MOD (or Kite mode)
Kites used to be very popular between kids and teenagers here in Brazil, there are still some servers with a good amount of players playing Pipa mod to this day
There is a game mode called Zombie Hell that is basically PVE zombie mode, where the zombies are bots trying to stab you. The best iteration I've seen of this mod was in a server called DSK if I'm not mistaken but it's down now, unfortunately.
PLEASE INCLUDE FURIEN NEXT TIME, THE MUST UNDERRATED GAMEMODE
One sidenote is that you dont always have to riot to win in jailbreak, you can listen to what the warden says until youre the last man standing, and when that happens you just /lr to start a duel with the warden and you win server money if you can kill the warden in a duel
I would mention furien or assasin mode, when you are assasin with high speed and jump boost and when you dont move you are invisible, ct*s have nades that can slow you down and detect you when you are invisible
+ campture the flag is awesome
What you said is just a tip of an iceberg. There are plenty of other cs 1.6 mods (for example diablo mod, football, base builder, only awp, cod mod, capture the flag, Battlefield mod)
Still playing gungame on 1.6 and css every now and then, i think it was the most fun mod
Being a zombie is a pain, i remember those days
Zombie escape was just something else for me. I still want to play it but when css steam support started being a thing i couldn't play because i didnt have the game in my library
Favourite mod was the Trouble in Terrorist Town server run by Allied Gamers (changed its name to Girl Gam3rs later on). Had the most fun in that community.
Damn near got perm banned on multiple occasions for running over Vick with a car lmao good times
@@ekiM2K I was about to RDM Vick once but I pushed him off as he pulled the trigger on me LMAO
Base Builder is so fun, please make a video about this mode
For your next video i would like to recommend you take a look at the superhero mod, its my second favorite after zombie plague
Big fan of the F-Zero GX music!
Are community servers still active in 1.6 or css? Community servers are basically dead in cs2
jailbreak was the best for me. I used to play it with my lil bro. We used to play on a server called Fragaholics. The owner and admins were super chill and such a good community. One day it came to an end but best time i had ever.
Love your videos bro, keep up the awesome work!
I used to hunt, this very uniqe game mode, called American Footbal, this was very rare already back in the day, and had very few players in it but was hella fun for me
I miss the old deathrun when people didn't bhop the whole map. I used to have tonns of deathrun maps in the folder when like 8 yrs old. Golden days.
Dodgeball!!! Ice Break! Man, I forgot about some of these modes.
0:58 do i hear metal slug 5 OST?
:D
I love playing zplague back in the good old cs 1.6 days
Now that a fun vid. And ill pay you for those transitions. OMG ❤🔥
That metal slug OST is 🔥
There was the War3x mod which gave a spin on the regular cs mode but with skills + mods that you can level and grind. Was CoD before CoD :P
Hey man, I really love your content! One question: can you cover CS - clones at one point? There is one game I have in mind: Global Offensive, a childhood classic (at least mine😂)
Some of these game modes are more beginner-friendly than the regular CS gameplay. I played more death match than vanilla CS as a kid. I also played lots of Zombie Mod.
When i was young i never knew how to bhop on those deathrun servers💀
Hi
You forgot the Paint ball mode 😊
Was a lot of fun and very good video 😊
I miss the old days😢
Thank you for the jerk of Nostalgia (am re-downloading cs now)
1:47 what is the map name ?
Fy_snow_2016
@@Matwi00thanks bro !
can u do a more in-depth zombie mode scene? those we're my main game modes in 1.6 and source. zombie escape, zombie mode, zombie riot/horde etc
cs zm was the stuff
too bad it isn t a game
A fave mode of mine was SuperHero, it was so fun to experiment :d
There is trickz in CSS wich a bit like KZ but in duo and is using mechanichs such a runboost and flashboost
not including base builder is a sin, although not the most popular. it was by far the most unique and it really deserves a standalone game... it was amazing.
bb s were so popular that you litteraly couldn t join any servers but for some reason they would dissaper or get empty
@@pumpkinspice5848 bb was extremely popular but sadly it just fell into obscurity ever since csgo launched. for whatever reason the most popular mods ( jb, surfing, bhop, kz ) were recreated but not BB. very weird since it was so popular.
one game mode i always played after i came back from a longer break was headshot only.
it was mostly restricted to deagle only and was played on aim or fy maps. one classic map that comes to mind was aim_deagle7k.
maybe it not really it's own gamemode as it was pretty much fight yard but with a bunch of plugins.
i don't know if there are still servers around and not sure if this was a thing on 1.6 as i've mostly played css.
