I don't think CSGO becoming an exclusively competitive game is the real reason for missing this gamemode. After all, they keep cs_office in the competitive gamemode to this day and people can even play it to rank up or down. I remember, we have been playing it many times. It was fun, mp5 could rival against snipers at long range with minimal recoil. Map had the potential to offer a unique game most often.
In order for the bots to reach the goal as VIP in CS1.6 or CS CZ you have to use the command "Go Go Go" because using the "Follow Me" command will prevent the bots to reach their goal and they will provide cover for you instead. With that said, other cut maps that didn't make it to CS1.6 besides as_oilrig or for 1.5 to which was as_tundra, were as_riverside, as_highrise, as_forest and for CS CZ was as_destown_cz.
Oh my god this gives me so many memories The struggle of playing the VIP with the bots to getting lost in the map because you were too dumb to understand what's happening to swinging in the pool or dying to the elevator Absolutely beautiful
I remember playing this map in 2014 ,i always wondered what this map is about and where it is located irl and how they managed to put ocean as a skybox🥺
I used to play this a lot, I would use the command panel thing to kill all bots until I get to be the VIP, then spam "Follow Me" until I get out. Did not work as expected many times, but was still a very interesting gamemode for me. As a T I used to camp with an AWP and just kill the VIP if he tries to leave.
One thing you might not know is the ZBot in Counter Strike 1.6 responds to radio command. If you radio "Regroup Team" then "Follow me", they will follow you like the Twelve Apostles and Jesus. Pretty useful even if you're not the VIP.
TNice tutorials was a fantastic beginner's guide, straight to the point, very clear. As a long-ti teacher I can tell you are quite apt at teacNice tutorialng!
Insurgency Sandstorm recreated this gamemode, it is called Ambush. Same concept, except there are two extraction zones. The VIP spawns with a pistol, but can pick up rifles from dead players. I highly recommend it.

I played a lot of as_tundra vs bots back in the day. Felt like being James Bond, sneaking around with a silenced pistol, trying to survive. Good times.
With that said, other cut maps that didn't make it to CS1.6 besides as_oilrig or for 1.5 to which was as_tundra, were as_riverside, as_highrise, as_forest and for CS CZ was as_destown_cz.
nah, I still remember the "Protect the VIP" line at the beginning of the round
Oh my god this gives me so many memories
The struggle of playing the VIP with the bots to getting lost in the map because you were too dumb to understand what's happening to swinging in the pool or dying to the elevator
Absolutely beautiful
love the fact that you mentioned dust2 as separated game mode
thanks for making this video, now I know the name of the map. I played it in an internet cafe with my friends a long time ago
I remember this gamemode. I remember been angry because I was the vip and couldn't be able to have a primary weapon
I remember it.
I played it once.
Instantly became the VIP.
Solo-stealthed my way to the chopper while the two teams were duking it out elsewhere. GG.
i always play this mode first everytime i log in to 1.6, man this game never fail to amaze me even tho it's a very old game
I remember playing this map in 2014 ,i always wondered what this map is about and where it is located irl and how they managed to put ocean as a skybox🥺
do you even know what an Oilrig is in real life?
@@zlatto ikr
I still play counterstrike to today, and I still love VIP mode the most.
It was actually played on community 1.6 servers quite often around 2010.
Guess this video is going to blow up
One thing you might not know is the ZBot in Counter Strike 1.6 responds to radio command. If you radio "Regroup Team" then "Follow me", they will follow you like the Twelve Apostles and Jesus. Pretty useful even if you're not the VIP.
This is my favorite game mode to play with Bots before, I would always play on the snowy map.
Zolance: The Counter-Strike Game Mode Nobody Remembers
me: which one?
Zolance: exactly
This map called asasination was one of the most played by me when i was younger .
This gave me a big nostalgia about cs 1.6 , and made me cry
Thanks for the video bro , respect
TNice tutorials was a fantastic beginner's guide, straight to the point, very clear. As a long-ti teacher I can tell you are quite apt at teacNice tutorialng!
You know you are old when you remember Oilrig, Poolday and fy_snow ...
The amount wall spam spots on this map is insane.
>nobody remembers
sir i have vivid memories of playing this for days, even one time on shrooms
Insurgency Sandstorm recreated this gamemode, it is called Ambush. Same concept, except there are two extraction zones. The VIP spawns with a pistol, but can pick up rifles from dead players. I highly recommend it.
I forgot about this.
The nostalgia coming back.
