Not sure how many caught that, but 13:58 is a feature. If someone shot you in the ass with a rifle while jumping you gained a bit of speed. It was sometimes used to catch timing on some peeks by having a teammate shoot you from behind as you rush. The damage for friendly fire was reduced so you took ~10 damage per shot. The countless wallbang spots on every map, the two man boost on Inferno window, 5 man defuse on Nuke from B on A, the fast jump-cross underneath wagons on Train etc... It was so unrestricted and never boring. You were let to do anything you wanted, so we all used our imagination to the fullest.
CS 1.6 was an experience I am grateful to have been a part of. The countless hours of LAN experience, going from one LAN café to another. The rivalry between teams and the friendship that was build upon it. Sleeping together with the brothers on train/bus stations, parks, internet cafés traveling various cities only to compete for no prize at all but for pure achievement. To be the best or among the best.
Doing the same thing for years and never feeling boredom or a need to stop. It's what love and passion are. The most fun I've had in my life and sadly the most fun I would most likely ever have... If there was a world where you can trade years, I'd definitely trade anything for 10 years of pure joy and happiness.

It's like meeting an old friend you have missed for so long. 1.6 is just such a clean and polished game. Every part of it just fits with the rest.

Its amazing how cs:source wasnt that popular and it was released like a year after cs1.6 yet its physical movements and characters are so similar to cs:go for such an old game i was said I spent my childhood on cs1.6 and didn't even knew of cs:source existance!
It's mostly deathmatch 32 server no round now with like 10 awpers on each team same with source. Game over.
What I love about 1.6 is how the models fly after a headshot

tbh to this day no game comes even close to the satisfaction of headshotting someone like in 1.6 (1.5 and 1.3 included)

Sorry but Quake 3 is the God tier of movement, but GldSrc is up there.

This is amazing to see. In the end, he still is that same kid who picked up a game, once upon a time. Now sitting in his room, having made his entire career from his love and passion for it. Reminding himself what it was that made him the best of the best - pure joy and passion for the game. Wonderful stuff.
I started to play CS in 2000. Watching this 24y later bring back the craziest memory.

Wave of amazing memories coming back to me from 1.6. This game was the pinnacle. So well paced and so balanced.
I always thought 1.4 and 1.5 were the best.

Yes, it felt like great chaos before the beginning and it favored the best gamers.
Later it became more n00b-friendly and 1.5 changes signaled the beginning of that trend. I loved quick scope and strafe-snipping and then fatigue was introduced shortly there after. @@xxxCyr0x

I've watched you since I was a kid 20 years ago man, this brought so much joy to me. I remember carrying my CRT monitor/computers to friends house in our Canada winters to watch you play in CPL Summer/Winter. I love it, I can't watch this enough. Thank you so much for the upload
This brings back memories, but maybe not the kind most 1.6 fans have. In 2002 i lived in an apartment where the guys below me liked to smoke green leafs and the guy above really liked CS 1.6, playing with speakers, not headphones, and also using ICQ, the message app of choice at the time. I remember hearing ICQ:s uh-oh! and the bouncing and explosion of grenades through his floor. At the time I was more into Quake although now the game of choice is ofcourse CS GO. Always nice seeing the content from you, f0rest!
2002 is pre 1.6 :D But I know what you mean. Such a nostalgic feeling. Rocket Arena/CPMA, CS and UT99 were my favorites, and still are to this day. Definitely miss the ICQ-era.

Brings back so many memories, i used to host custom servers. alot of de_rats and shoothouse maps. Poolday, scoutsknvies, awp, lego, custom climb maps. the og only up maps. We used to import our own gun skins and sounds. Now they make you pay for all that. 1.6 was the most fun.

Love the outside intros! But I recently about 3 weeks ago went and played 1.6 just for a vibe check and to see what the timeless classic was up to in 2022. In North America it was mainly spanish speaking 5v5 pugs, but all in all, it was a good time.

@@user-kn3tx9pg3e No problems my dude! I also think he says it's the no sugar version, trocadero zero. It's really hard to describe the taste of it though. It tastes kind of similar to the scottish soda "Irn Bru". Trocadero is best enjoyed paired with a classic swedish kebab pizza!

been playing cs on a high lvl for the last 13-14 years - this video really evokes those nostalgic cs 1.6 feelings
and I thought to myself - he plays like me, whereas it was me who actually modeled my game after CS legendary players like f0rest :)
Can we just get back to 1.6 times? Everything was so easy back then and the community was just legendary, so many cool people. Im truly nostalgic right now, it was a lot of fun.

Oh boy..I still remember when I first discovered CS 1.6 back in 2007 when I went to my cousin because he had a Pentium 4 PC and he could run that game. I was 11 at that time..After that I went straight to the internet cafe and played with my friends for hours until one day when my parents bought me a Pentium 4 PC. It has been almost 10 years since I last played any CS game but I’m still watching some CS videos when I got the time and when I want to feel nostalgic again. I love it when CS legends come back to play some CS 1.6. Who knows..maybe one day our paths will cross again on the old de_dust2.

@@ghazzaouiibrahim2510 i have about 5000 servers in my list, and 40% of them have more than half of the slots filled. It also depends on what time you are online. Between 19.00 cet and 00.00 most of the players seem to be online, at least on my list. Why you see 3000 servers i dunno,where are you from?

imo the pure mechanic of 1.6 is still better than CSGO. and no bullshit shotguns, mp spraying and other crap. it was AK/M4 and pistol that was it. sometimes mp5

goldsource movement is so fucking CLEAN very satisfying to pull off strafes and jumps and stuff.

I don't know about today, but a couple of years ago fastcup used an ancient official server build. It gives the same game experience as 10+ years ago, but the vast majority of public servers have new builds REHLDS installed, where unlike fastcup you can feel the shooting is more modern and responsive, and it's confusing at times
