- These headlights were pretty yellow. They have some haze from the inside, most likely they are not sealed properly. After sanding and polishing they came out nice. You can learn how I did them in the video.
You can just use a headlight restoration kit if you don't want to buy everything separately
The pad I use - amzn.to/3vFac9Z
The compound I use - amzn.to/3xpa1Aa

I've watched quite a few videos showing how to do this just so i don't F it up, and yours is the clearest version with minimal words, so well done!
Thank you very much!
@@btnw8 Rubbish, u must use some UV resistant laquer or else u'll be polishing em after few months over and over again til u erode all plastic:)
"This tutorial is a game-changer! My headlights were severely oxidized, but after following these instructions, they look like they just rolled off the showroom floor. The key lesson I took away from this video is the power of DIY solutions. With a little time and effort, anyone can achieve professional-quality results at home. This video has not only saved me money but also boosted my confidence in tackling car maintenance tasks. Thank you for such a valuable resource!"
Short and right to the point. Excelent!
Thank you!
You need UV protection or it fades again!
Super job and video...Just think that a UV Laquer should have been applied to seal and protect rather than the wax
Tank u so much for sharing this educatve, money saver and useful video. I almost bought a new headlights, then i saw your video wolah! I got a new headlights with just a little effort, kudos to u, lots of admiration for u, all the way from Nigeria in West. Africa.
I am glad I helped you out. Take care!
No. 4 min video.
Amazing Video Bro ❤
Thank you!
8 hours to do and 4 minutes to admire😁
It took me hour and a half 🙂
#1000, #2000 and then finish with #3000 grit wet sanded and apply cerakote........lasted 3 years so far.
Wow, this is very useful, bro, thanks for sharing the tips
Glad it was helpful!
It changed colour even as the masking tape went on. What happened, did the deliberate teabag stains evaporate? ;)
I m thinking to go out for buying new headlights
I find it comical the majority of comments are just nitpicking or complaining about something instead of just saying... Good job.
Thank you! A lot can be said but i feel like not everyone wants to understand why I am doing more sanding steps or why I am not using 2k clear coat.
What if I don't have a buffing machine, what is an alternative to performing the compound scrubbing?
If you have a drill use it, if not I would suggest getting a Cerakote headlight restoration kit. If not you can use a microfiber towel and hand polish the lens.
Without using anti-ultraviolet liquid or spray paint? It won't take long for the lamp to turn yellow and blurry again after being exposed to sunlight and rainwater acid.
They should have never stopped making Glass headlights
Or K-cars.
Just do what they did and then mask and paper off the front and spray Dupli-Color Perfect Match 8 Ounce Clear Spray Paint and no wax or anything needed.
Beautiful results, but which part of this more than 25 minute procedure fits your title? What is equally important, as mentioned by another viewer, is without some UV protection coating the light will haze again quickly.
Apply a good paste wax monthly. Over a year with mine and no haze.
I was ignorant that paste wax could act as a UV inhibitor. That's good to know. However, for me at least, having to do that monthly would get forgotten fast. I believe there are wipe on or spray coatings available (ie Meguirs, and others) that can be applied on a yearly basis.
The title is about showing the whole process in 4 minutes. Yes, coating is a must if you want the headlight to last longer. However nothing is permanent. Thanks for your comment
Maybe not monthly, but a couple times a year.
Ceramic coat them or apply PPF
Hmm, so when will the next wax application be required? Since the UV coating has been removed, and now the headlight will prone to yellowing quickly , Thanks
I re-apply wax to mine monthly and no haze in over a year!
@@jaya.0069 Noted and Thanks
I have refurbished many lights this way and I can say that some of them lasted longer without maintenance than new ones with the original UV varnish. If you briefly re-polish the lights with car paint paste once every 6 months they will last for many years.
Nice...good job
Thank you! :)
Just saw video
Putting tape that was to much work
What is that compound?
nice result. I used meguir's plastic x, just polished it without sanding(im too lazy). I'm satisfied with the result but the oxidation will reappear after a few months. so how long does the wax protect your headlights?
Mine were done almost a year ago and are still looking nice
Amazing 🤩
What kind of compound, please?!
If it’s not sprayed clear coat before
Sanding is necessary?
Hi sir, can u pls name the buffing compound and final liquid used it will be very useful to me if u name them thank u.
Producs are linked in the description, the liquid wax I use in the end is Koch Chemie Hartwachs BMP S0.01 (will add a link for at as well)
Cleaned em..watered and sanded with 800.1200 nd 2000 like instructed.. cleaned and polished with the screwdriver and abit by hand...cleaned em and even milkier when they dried..the wax cleared em up abit but not much..didnt i polish enough or is it coz theyre plastic?
Its hard to tell when I cant see them, make sure to sand in cross pattern. For example 1000 vertical, 1500 horizontal, 2000 vertical and 2500 horizontal. Dry the headlights after each grit and inspect to see if you missed a spot. This will make sure you are not missing a spot. I will suggest to go up to 2500 grit and use good compound and pad for the polishing step.
3 hours and a boat-load of money to get this done!
Boat load .you just not good with money
@@renogunzddragon1900🏆🏆🏆🤑🤑🤑😆😂🤣
What Wax?
Use a eraser sponge first then a cutting compound. Same result.
Do we want to put clear coat on to protect the head light ?
Yes, it’s recommended to protect them, so they last longer. Use ppf or headlight coating for best results.
Sandpapers sales 📈
F**king amazing.
What compound?
was that 7 or 8 types on sandpaper?
What about UV protection?
Wrap them in a tint, ceramic coating, or some kind of headlight coating for the longest lasting result.
what is the "compound" i should apply? did not see that in the video
Check out the description
4-minutes? More like all afternoon.
😂😂😂
He's talking about the length of the video........ Way to make yourself look stupid 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He's talking about the length of the video. Way to make yourself look stupid 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
he literally said "shown" in 4 minutes
Word up!
Took me 5 minutes with some oven cleaner paste (vim) then hosed it off.
I have to try that
What if the problem is the inner part?
Then you will have to open the headlight and clean it from inside. Seen a video where a dude cleans the inside with a microfibre towel and 2 magnets. Havent tried that yet tho
do you have any thing that powered to spin a cake mixer or fan or drill will work improvise
think i would rather pay a shop to clean mine. to much work
Aww, get out of that recliner and do something!😁
Lazy or what
Get off the sofa
I just replaced mine with new lens (on both wife's car and my own) probably took less time than this did !
@@bbo40 Very wasteful!!!
I think you should get your watch fixed 😅
Better to use T-cut, no problem and done in a couple of minutes
Where can you buy all the fine grit sandpaper. 1000,1200,1500,2000,2500???
A paint supply store for automobiles
Next; how to get the dings out.
800 grit Ver , 1200grit Hor, 1500 Grit Vert, 2000 Grit Hori, 2500 Grit Ver
How long is every grit step? and what if i dont have a polishing machine?
It takes 3 to 5 minutes. You can polish the headlights with microfibre cloth by hand if u don’t have a machine.
@@btnw8 you have any thing that powered to spin a cake mixer or fan or drill will work improvise
Why do that. All you need is mothers wheel polish. Same results.
Just did mine today with mothers and it came out amazing!
Aluminium polish won’t work for these headlights, u need to sand the rotten 2k clear on top.. otherwise you will have a line and difference between the 2k and the non coated part of the headlight
Everything is Planted
What compound?
It is linked in the description.
what if lose the wax....
Reapply the wax once in a couple months for maintenance
Are you meaning 4 days brother 😂
cost of restoration accessories >>> more than cost of new headlight
I don’t think so 😂
The time is sped up
Of course it’s sped up.
That’s to save you time watching the video.
Just saw another video where the guy used mothers mag polish and was finished in 2 minutes. No brainer..............
Have used mothers too, then clear coat.
wow...
Most of us think the job is 4 minute due to title.
Way too much prep & restore.
Just go with the toothpaste for a 6-12 month job. Tape if your messy.
You cant get this result with a toothpaste
I bought a kit for this and they got even milkier..i followed the instructions 😤
Explain the situation, I may be able to help
And in three months you will be doing it again
Almost a year has passed since the restoration and the headlights are actually holding up pretty good 👍
@@btnw8 not possible because there is no UV protection or maybe it sits in the garage 24/7
The man is construction worker and he uses his car every day. I saw the car a couple days ago and the headlights were still in a good condition 🙂
@@btnw8 then he has been polishing them in between
It is not possible for plastic with no UV protection to stay clear
😂😂 Okay, however you like, take care
some of the sanding can be skip
Yes, I agree
Smaller steps requires less sanding. 1.5x grit size steps is optimal I think.
A Headlights Cleaner from ABRO 3 minutes .
WOW, poor coffee on your new headlights and clean it off! GENIUS!😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Keren..
perfekt
Then go and buy new headlights. 😂
I j7st us3 a rag with a drop of breakfluid. Clear headlines in 2 minutes or kess. 😂
Never tried that, will try it on scrap lense and see what happens 😂
More like 2hrs
I'm looking for the Crackhead technique the man did on my car. Idk what he did to get my headlights so sparkling but I know I don't want to pay him $20 a light 😂 this too much😂
Talking and showing slowly please.
I will consider that in my next video, thank you for the suggestion
Might have been easier to jus buy another car 😂
By using small increases of grit size, you don’t need to sand a lot.
I find it’s much less work to use small increments because large increments requires a lot more sanding. The sanding should take much more than 10 minutes.
Then cw circular with 300 grit, then ccw circular with 600 grit, then ovally with 1200 grit, then opposte ovally with 1500 grit, then triangular with 500 grit, then . . . BS.
8 hours of the work shown in 4 minutes 😂
its no protection on headlights since u sand it down so after 2-3 months its worst then before :)) smart.... :))
I see, I see 👵
The moans about the 4 minute thing in these comments 🙄..Lads would ye ever cop on!
ピカール知らんのか?
I don’t car what grit they use. They was made for you to spend your money and buy new lenses. Back in days head light lenses was real glass not plastic so save your money. Toothpaste and home made remedy’s and buy new one 😊
Bs
Too much work buy new ones easier
Easier if you pay someone to do it, but for sure not cheaper haha
The new matrix headlights will set you back well over $2000 each.
Toothpaste works better and faster
Might be faster, but I don’t think it’s better
Clickbait title !
Its meant to show the whole restoration in 4 minutes. I guess it can be missunderstood.
@@btnw8 Yes it catches the eye ! maybe it would of been better if you had added the words 'in a 4 minute video' 👍
Bullcrap
Man aint nobody doing all of tht. 4 minutes my ass . 4 minute vid sped up smh 🤦🏿
Lazy bones
