- In a surprising turn of events, General Motors finds itself grappling with a significant crisis in the electric vehicle sector. Recently, GM's CEO, Mary Barra, made headlines by abruptly halting EV production and abandoning a substantial portion of the company's electric plans. This sudden shift in strategy has sent shockwaves through the automotive industry, prompting questions about the future of EVs and the reasons behind GM's drastic decision.
The primary catalyst for GM's about-face on EVs is a stark reality-consumers are not buying them. Reports indicate that nearly 92,000 unsold EVs are accumulating at dealership lots across the United States, creating a staggering 342% increase from the previous year. The situation has become so dire that GM is now selling these vehicles at massive losses, leading to concerns about the company's financial well-being.

What a load of crap decline in US EV sales. They have boomed this year, selling more than ever.
If there is such a glut of EVs, how come I can't seem to get my hands on the Lyriq I want? My wife and I are retired and don't take any long road trips so an EV would be a great vehicle for us. Too bad... I hate to think I'll end up with a Tesla when I might have had a beautiful Caddy.
Wow, that sucks!!!
GM did not halt EV production.
Once it locks up and it takes three days to reboot, recharge, and get returned, you”ll understand the 12volt battery was a bad idea.
Hmmmmm my wife wanted a new EV so I went to the local love boutique and bought her a new one! Damn now I'm sleeping on the couch 😂
The Lyriq needs to make the 19 speaker system standard, the 7 speaker system is a turn-off for many. All other EVs in that class all have better audio systems than the 7 speaker system.
Sorry my dealership did for 78 years I only did it for 39 years Jerry Mcdonogh
I am so sick of the doom and gloom from GM EV haters till its sickening. But Telsa an inferior model to GM's EV offering and all EV brand can't keep them plain jane models in stock. Stop your BS. I dont believe it.
Get rid of all these electric cars are no good for the environment and they’re just pieces of crap
Is GM going to have Hud in it for 2024? Is the hardware going to be in it so an over-the-air download will keep it updated? (Please answer) I understand the system. My question When will we have the system in the Lyriq? let's say will the system be in the Lyriq starting Jan 1 2024???

From what I see they are cutting back on some EV production goals like the Chevy Silverado and EV trucks but reversing their prior abandoning of the Chevy Bolt. They obviously don’t see strong demand for EV trucks and full size SUVs at this time. I think they’ll keep their plans for the Lyriq on track. They just have to get them out to dealers.
I think all of this comes down on their employees pay increase since they went on strike to get paid better with today’s times…
2019-labor costs of UAW workers was 5% of total cost! Maybe it's 10% now! Increased wages won't make severe impact on vehicle cost...
Click bait
Like my EGO electric lithium 🔋 lawnmower and Craftsman blower, string trimmer, hedge trimmer but EV is going to be a long way off for me.
They have software issues and overpriced.
