Hey Swiss, just got back from Queenstown a couple days ago. An absolutely stunning approach in real life, but the departure terminal is smaller than it looks.

I have a Cessna 180 and live over the hill in Wanaka. The QTN strip is 2000 meters long and is a Captains only landing, this isn't a problem for my plane. As you said it "Was" the 4th busiest in NZ before covid ...a few months ago I flew over and was the "Only" aircraft in the airspace ... rather than being # 15 light GA ...6 helicopters and 2 airbus 320's all on the go. They said " You can have any runway you like" Tragic...

VIDEO IDEA: THE a320 Fly By Wire is free and has an AUTOLAND feature built into to the experimental version, have it try to land in worse and worse conditions
Flew into Queenstown the other week and this terminal looks very similar to it. I flew in on an ATR and out on an A320 less than an hour later. Not sure why an ATR was parked at a jet ramp in the sim either, usually an international gate too. Air NZ also flies their A321's here
Air New Zealand does take the A321 neo into Queenstown

What happened?
A Rainy stormy Night in India/Kerala
A Boeing 737-800 operated by Air India Express
was landing at a tabletop runway
During the finaly approach the wipers of the captain side was not working
and Since it is a hard landing only captains land in this airport
The aircraft touched down nearly missing half of the runway
Despite the co pilot alerting the captain to go around
There was no respond
Few seconds later the aircraft overshot and fell from the table top [22ft i thini]
and broke into 3 pieces
but always concerned about india. you don't point out other crashes

First officer should've taken control when the captain really tried to butter on that tabletop runway.
I flew here in rfs storm with a a320 and stop so close at the end of the runway, plus I landed early

When I flew here IRL, it's a bit if a scary, you think you're still above the clouds but it's just so foggy and then you just hit down on the runway lmao

The thing about Queenstown airport is that you do need a certificate to fly there. So not every pilot can fly there due to the small runway

i haven't landed in queenstown before as I live Close by. I have landed In Dunedin And that was very fun. Its very different landing in Dunedin then it is Auckland or Literally any airport.

Fun fact: The Boeing 737-800 is bigger than the A320 in terms of volume and capacity. So the Boeing 737 is the largest plane that can operate there
Fun fact the airbus 321 neo also operates into QTN ...max op weight of 101 ton, way bigger than 737-800 ...just saying.
