Real talk, Marluxia's "guardian" is probably the most unsettling design in Kingdom Hearts. Something about the stoney face and black tears feels very disturbing, especially contrasting with the normally bright visuals of the games.
It's not that unsettling especially when compared to Ansem's heartless ship in the game prior.
@@nemisous83 Ansem's heartless ship is certainly unsettling, but it still fits within the general design principles for Heartless in the game. Its unsettling, but still feels rooted in the previous designs of the game.
Marluxia's guardian feels like its almost from a different game. I think that gives it a feeling of uncanny to me that makes it especially unsettling for me?
Nick Graham I’ll never forget when I first fought Ansem’s ship and deflected the little lasers, I was like “why is this ship covered in swinging little colorful cocks?”
@@MatthiasPendragon I think its cuz Ansem's ship is brightly colorful despite its gross look. Marluxia's guardian is pale and devoid of any color other than the scythes.
I always knew something was up because the end remember most lesser nobody's faces are obscured and you don't see a full aspect of who they originally were only bits and pieces such has either eye, mouth or not at all. It's very unsettling with the fact that that the guardian was serving him but clearly it had an independence of its own. It was clear during the fight it was watching Sora.
Hey, I know this is random, but I wanted to sincerely thank you for making these videos. I really do love Kingdom Hearts lore, but I don't ever want to play this mobile game, and the way you calmly explain to us this complex and long-running prequel story is incredibly helpful. Reading this stuff on a wiki would be impossible for me to comprehend and enjoy, and I almost gave up on it but then I found this channel. You narrate and show us clips of the necessary information in a very soothing and easy to understand way, while also putting real emotion behind the story by asking questions and theorizing things yourself. You are quite literally my only source for anything KH Union X. Thank you so much!

When Lauriam said to Strelitzia that they would never fight together at least until Strelitzia is strong enough to carry him on her back... and then you realized that's exactly what the Specter/Marluxia's Angel did during the CoM fight... Can Nomura stop playing games with our minds and hearts already???
On top of that Strelitzia suggests to be the rear-guard to Lauriam's vanguard in the update, Marluxia's guardian fights behind him in the final form

I think calling the guardian his sister is kind of a stretch like saying the Xemnas's dragon is really Master Eriquise or something.
Well, they do say that the memory of a person is strong enough to retain their links in others' hearts (like when the fairies summoned Maleficent)
Love him or hate him nomura’s writing is undoubtedly insane. To be able to pull things from projects he worked on so long ago and bring them forward and make them huge current events is something I don’t think I’ve ever seen another director do. He really does take the saying look at the big picture and multiplies it by like x1000
i agree, but st the same time, the things he withholds for other games and spin offs and sometimes we get no answers whatsoever is reaaally aggravating

inXine for real I do think he drags the plot out a bit to much at times. The story of kingdom hearts shouldn’t have to span over like 7 or games.
DraceEmpressa yeah there are others who do call backs but what I was referring to with nomura is how those callbacks are usually things that when you first saw them they didn’t mean much of anything and then he makes them huge important things later on.
I'm not going to prescribe any specific KH-meaning to the white robes, as it's part of funeral customs in Japan to dress the deceased in a white kimono. Strelitzia appeared in a white robe because she's dead, Xehanort dressed Ventus in a white robe when he took him to Destiny Islands because he thought Ventus was about to die. I don't know if there was ever a point in time where the deceased were specifically hooded, though, but it could just be a stylistic choice.

I believe her heart is undoubtedly gone from the world(s) but perhaps because of her desire to speak to us and her love for her brother, she may have ended up in the Final World after all like we originally thought, just not the one we ended up talking to.
The Final World is said to be where "Death & Dreams touch and a cross over happens often." Maybe this is one of those instances.

My theory is Strelitzia's heart went into the player's. Remember, when Lauriam met the player, he said : "Keep my sister in your heart".

So I don't think the Spector is anything as direct as Strelitzia's nobody, death and becoming a heartless are two different things. Now we know that the sleeping worlds and the world of death touch, so it's entirely possible that her spirit crossed over into her brother's dreams, and has always been with him. While the Spector on his boss fight is a manifestation of that, only taking on nobody symbols cause he was a nobody at the time
I dont think the Spector is anything more than just a cool final boss form similar to the Ansem ship and Xemnas dragon

I think another interesting thing to note is that if you look at boss form marluxia (the one where he looks like he's coming out of a flower on top of the white hooded figure) he has a large flower emerging from behind him which resembles a type of flower called a "bird of paradise" - it's official name is Strelitzia. the flower itself represents thoughtfulness (which makes sense given her connection to the player/other players not inducted into the dandelions/her brother) and immortality (although she perished, she is watching over her brother as a guardian figure, even in his nobody form). awesome job on the series!
What if white coats protect someone from Data, and thats how Strelitzia entered the datascape and appeared before Lauriam while he was unconscious?

Okay, MAYBE I’m going too deep into this, especially for someone who isn’t really caught up in the Union Cross nonsense, but if we want to use old English Literature to find potential references (which I wouldn’t put past Nomura) Marluxia’s design was definitely meant to be somewhat of an inversion of the Grim Reaper, with the companion Nobody in his COM fight being almost a female inversion on the inversion, but in the book The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, there is a part where Death (the Grim Reaper) and a woman in a white gown (who I believe is known as “Life in Death”) are gambling to decide the fate of a bunch of sailors. It’s unlikely that this has anything to do with this, but it could be a cool reference at the least.

Strelitzia appearing to Lauriam in his Dream reminds me a lot of Ephemer appearing to the Player in X[chi]. Maybe Strelitzia, by dying, has become Unchained. I suspect Unchained is connected to Death and the Final World bc of its connection to dreams. I also suspect Sora’s ability to astral project himself through the Guardians’ hearts in ReMind is because he, too, is Unchained (as is Yozora, probably). But does being Unchained free someone from just their worldline, or from time itself? Xehanort obeyed the laws of time travel, but Sora has thrown them all out the window. We’re in uncharted territory now. I’m starting to think there’s a real possibility that UX is not taking place during the time we assume it is....
I don’t think the White Coat Strelitzia is a Nobody-I think she’s the first of a new type of enemy, similar to the Lingering Wills. When we encountered the stars in the Final World in KH3, and the game made a point to say that they are too attached to the real world to move on, it felt reminiscent of the idea behind the Lingering Will, an unsatisfied desire so strong it takes physical form. Like you said, Nomura could also be doing Alternate Timelines, but I would personally prefer he expand his metaphysical Heart-lore lol-it always felt like a cool new take on sci-fi tropes.

Maybe becoming Unchained allows you to go to Japan, where MoM, Sora, Riku, and Yozora disappear to?

To me the white robe that she is wearing looks a lot more like a foreteller's robe the black coat. Sure it may not have color or a mask but it also doesn't have a zipper or those silver hanging things. Maybe it is more a mixture of the two.
It does appear that Lauriam's white guardian is some echo of Strelitzia made even sadder by the fact that at that point in time Lauriam likely has little to no memories of his time before getting into the future and so likely doesn't remember his sister at all, unless he dreams of her which may be very likely.
I do kind of like the idea that there will be seven white robed figures at some point, however I really want someone else to see the white robe not in a dream state before we decided if there will be more of them.
If Strelitzia heart is inside Lauriam then in the present story we have a way to remake the body. All it will take is Lauriam trusting Even, and Ienzo to take a look at his heart which is hiding Strelitzia's. I was a bit unsure if I really wanted her to come back. The only true deaths that we have seen are the keyblade war children in chi, Eraqus, and Xehanort if Strelizia does come back which it is starting to hint that she is. The war children where not very strong wielders as Ava saved the most gifted in all the unions, and the two masters could have lived on if they had wished, they basically had to chose to go into the afterlife. Really keyblade masters are scary I can see why all the other wielders are so respectful of Yen Sid.
I hope they ditch the robes in the future, they're overused. Nomura is one of the most celebrated character designers in all of vidya, but the endless cloaks are boring.
@@SuperNintendawg The foretellers robes are some of the prettiest clothing that has come out of KH games. Right next to Terra's and Eraqus' outfits. Sure I have never really liked Masks but that is because of my religion and as the Foretellers are not part of it I really doesn't matter. They are also likely going to lose both mask and hood as soon as the story allows. Only to put them back on if the masks are the foretellers way to keep darkness at by the same way the armor, black coat, or clothing from the three good fairies does.
I will admit that the black coat is a little overdone at this point but it does have lore importance and overall I am not to upset about it. There may be people wearing it for as long as the story is being made simply because of it's lore.
I am also sure that their is a lore reason for the white robe. After all we know Strelitzia's face so there must be another reason for her to hide it.
On a last note the only people we don't see if they have taken off the hood are Demyx, Lauriam, Elrena, and Luxord and it is very likely that they also are going to be wearing something new when we see them next. So over all they do seem to be going away form the black coat for everyone that isn't Luxu or MoM.

@@SuperNintendawg Oh yeah I can see why you are a bit board of the Black coats. They do have lore behind them and I don't really mind them on MoM and Luxu but the other characters should really get a new look. Which it does appear they are moving towards.
From watching Hmk's video that Straletzia has passed away but refuses to gobthe light of kingdom hearts because she is unsatisfied with how her life turned and now only her soul only lives on to help Laurium/Marluxia like an angel.
The Master of Masters must have seen someone with a white coat since he has already experienced a keyblade war in his youth and was most likely the one who created the black coat from seeing one these Angels potentially.
I think the Spectre may be Marluxia's remnants of Strelitzia, since it bears the same Nobody sigil. Much like how he was a hollowed being without his heart, his memory of her is also a hollow shell. (maybe he was somehow able to hold on to that memory of her, or perhaps had a reoccurring dream of a woman in a white coat, not knowing who she is but feeling a sort of connection). Perhaps the Spectre is meant to be more like the Lingering Will, where instead of rage and anguish (Like Terra), it's the leftover feelings Strelitzia had of wanting to protect her brother, and the sadness and pain she felt knowing she would never see him again (which explains the tears). It appeared before for him to help him fend off Sora, in what was his time of need, perhaps reaching him through space and time, or perhaps there was a small part of her heart still with him, that came forth to protect him.
Either way, Nomura Never Forgets.

Also white robe to protect from light sounds right. Why cant pure light be even as dangerous is not more dangerous than darkness if it's not used right. Riku shows how darkness can be used for good/properly.

I know I'm late on this, but just confirming that the game 100% wants you to know/assume the white-clad figure is Streletzia: she calls him Oniisama, which is what Streletzia was calling him in the earlier scene.

I’ll say this, I don’t really care for Union X, but these last bits of story have been really good and these videos make digesting all of it so much easier.

That's because in Japanese custom, the dead (or nearly dead) are dressed in a white kimono for their trip to the afterlife.
These Updates are Nice. I personally cannot be bothered to get into Union X as my phone isnt down for all this. However i think ill give Dark road a shot ONLY if its an entire story and not in monthly segments.

My theory is that Vanitas IS Darkness. Darkness possessed Ven to kill Strelitzia. When Ven made it back to the real world, Darkness remained dormant inside of him until Xehanort, unknowingly, drew it out. That’s why Vanitas is so evil and refers to himself as Darkness... because he is. Ever noticed how Vanitas flies around on a swarm of keyblades from fallen wielded? Notice how he “controls” them just as Darkness controlled the wielders in Union X by corrupting them.
Now when Ventus defeated Vanitas and went into Sora’s heart, he brought that darkness into Sora as well. Which is why I think Sora has the rage form. Question is, why does Vanitas look like Sora if Ventus hadn’t met Sora beforehand??
I honestly think that becoming Vanitas was what Darkness wanted this whole time. Think about it, up until Vanitas was created, Darkness could either 1) not have a form or 2) possess someone else, but still have a constant light inside of that person that Darkness must deal with. So when Darkness finally got his own vessel free of light, you can imagine he’d be unstoppable.

They gotta make this game into a kingdom hearts GAME not a mobile one. If not that at least make a kingdomhearts game that you as the protagonist experience the world as a weilder.

Well there is a theory calling in to question that is Roxas really Sora's nobody or was it a red herring?
All nobodys looks like their somebodys this information points to Roxas actually is Ventus's nobody.
When Sora opened his heart to darkness both Kairi's and Ventus's hearts where inside his. That means it is possible that xion's heart was in Roxas's. This points to there actually being 4 nobodys. Roxas and Ventus is too close to be anything else. Nanime does look like Kairi. So that means two nobodys are missing. Sora's true nobodys and xion.
The reason for the mistaken identity is simple that they didn't know about hearts resting inside hearts. Even Xanort had no clue about that.
So this theory blows open so many doors. Even the possibility of Kairi becoming corrupted by darkness. I wouldn't be surprised if an upcoming game features an epilogue episode where Dark Kairi is the final boss.
There is enough to point to a dark fate for Kairi
Alright. So, according to this game, and in relation to the others, all but two of the organization are accounted for.
Xemnas, a nobody of terranort
The next five members are all made from the crew of radiant garden.
Axel and saix are humans in the town who ended up in the crossfire.
And both larxene and marluxia were apart of the keyblade war.
That leaves both luxord and demnyx to be accounted for in the story. I wonder what role they'll play in this games lore.
We may have been given a clue about Luxords true origins already, but as far as I know Demyx is still a complete enigma

Maybe she became a being of light. I strongly believe that this next saga will be discovering what it’s like in kingdom hearts. I also think it will be a kingdom of light, to contrast the realm of darkness, inhabited by beings of light similar to heartless, unversed, etc. .
Dude. Great summery. Here’s what I think: Strelitzia became an angel. Her heart ascended to heaven because she is pure. Scala ad Caelum does mean “Ladder to Heaven”. Heaven is somewhat cannon to KH now. Eraqus brings MX to heaven or the afterlife when he is defeated. The white coat, maybe it doesn’t protect the wearer from light as the black coats ward off darkness, maybe it protects other people from the wearer’s intense light. Why would Strelitzia, a character of was inherently as pure and sheepish as Ventus need to protect themselves for the light? That second form Nobody has Angel wings. I feel that maybe the nobody was created by Marluxia out of his love for her. Or maybe she is a special case like Naminé. According to The World Ends With You, angels have the ability to transcend time/space. When Sora and Kairi strike MX together in Re:Mind they grow angel wings together. The concept of an “Organization VII” is also very interesting. 7 Angels, rather than 13 Nobodies/Vessels. Different from when a nobody is born, you’d have to die and go to heaven to become one.
Let's not forget the possibility that it could be Strelitzia in the Final World, where she was talking to Sora. :)

It’s definitely not Strelitzia. It’s Yozora’s love interest. Sora confirms this in REmind.
Kairi is a Princess of Heart and has demonstrated Dream Eater powers. I figure the same thing happened with Strelitzia because she had to have traveled the Worldline at some point to reunite with Marluxia. That said, why didn't she remind (see what I did there?) him he has a Keyblade? He and Xemnas and Larxene all have that plot hole.
Note: I know Strelitzia isn't a Princess, I'm saying it's possible she became one as a way to avoid becoming a Heartless and Nobody. The emblems could technically only belong to Marluxia.
I never really bothered to care about UX until now, but WHAT? Marluxia's final boss form in KH RE:COM actually has a backstory? You're insane, Nomura! Though now I wonder if Dark Road will explain how Ansem got that big ship form in KHI and Xehanort that dragon form in KHII.
I think tying the marluxia robot thing to his sister is kind of a stretch especially since its just an extension of Marluxia similar to the dragon being an extension of Xemnas.

I might look into it too much but, isn't the Marluxia's guardiant strangely ressembling the shape of the Strelitzlia? I mean the flower, from wich she's name from. Well some people might have looked into that already i suppose though.
Nomura loves using names that have some sort of sense for its main characters, but Strelitzia's name means vague things, except the classical meaning of "thoughfull" and "joy" wich could simply point to her wanting to support her brother.
There seems to also have another meaning but its rare, wich is Immortality. And with that last weird dream Marluxia had... Mmmmmm...
Anyway, thanks a lot for those videos, wich greatly helps understanding Chi's and UX's story.

Maybe Strelitizia became a nobody and ended up in the future after the events of kh3, and her powers will be unique, kinda like namine and her memories alternating/restoring powers. In the opening of Dream Drop Distance, we get a small scene of how ansem and a few of organization 13 members become nobodies, and in both kingdom hearts 1 and 2, Sora give up his heart to free Kairi's heart, which created both Namine and Roxas, after all in the kingdom hearts universe, if the body lose its heart, it becomes a empty shell and eventually, that dusk will gain a mind of it's own. 🤔🤔🤔
