Oh God, they did, didn't they? I went and saw all of them in theaters. Ya never really think about that stuff when you're a kid, but dear lord, that man's schedule must of been all kinds of chaotic.
The Mask amplifies the wearer's personality and core nature. Stanley is a nice guy who became a cartoony goofball, the thug is a corrupt criminal who became a cartoony monster.
Her - "Whose motorcycle is this?" Him - "Its not a motorcycle, it's a chopper." Her - "Oh, well than whose Chopper is it?" Him - "It's Zed's baby...." Her - "Who's Zed?" Him - "Zeds dead baby." Lol
This is one of my all time favorite movies . Nomatter how many times I watch it I always die laughing XDD . Jim Carrey killed this role and I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the mask ! I'm glad you decided to react to this movie and I look forward to How to Train your dragon 3 ! ;)
This was the first movie I knew about Diaz. She looked amazing. After this she was famous and suddenly her look changed she got thinner. In this role her face is rounder just a tad more weight and she looks divine.
And the world was introduced to Cameron Diaz... So, this movie is based on a comic. It's....less family friendly. As Big Head -- what the character he transforms into is actually called in the book -- Stanley Ipkiss isn't a generally harmless Bugs Bunny-style karmic prankster. He's an outright murderous psychopath (the mechanics and the gangsters he confronts the first time he transforms in the movie? He actually KILLS them in the book). With a sense of humor. And he dies at the end of the first story. It's actually Kellaway (along with Stanley's ex-girlfriend Kathy, and the one who actually killed him to stop his rampage) who are the main users of the Mask, can (more or less) keep Big Head's murderous impulses under the control, and remain fundamentally good people under its influence. It was a nice twist that "good girl" Peggy ended up being a selfish crook, and "bad girl" Tina was good all along.
Fun fact: this is the original mainstream appearance of legendary beauty Cameron Diaz. However, in the tradition of the Italian stallion Sylvester Stallone, she did appear in adult films before this.
Loved this film for the contrast between mischeif (Loki possessing Stanley) and evil (the gangsters and their 'real-world' actions). A bit that was cut for being too gruesome: the woman reporter who betrays Stanley to the gangers? She's thrown into the printing press (a small moment the next morning of a man smudging the ink on his morning paper with his thumb is all that remains of this sequence).
Loved your reaction! This has been one of my all time favorite movies ever since I first saw it in the theater as a kid with my dad. I even remember the hype surrounding it before it came out, and we couldn't wait until it was finally in theatres. We also got it on VHS as soon as it was in stores. As someone who grew up watching a lot of old school cartoons, I love how Stanley became like one big wacky cartoon character whenever he put the mask on and would even emulate some of those classic characters (such as the wolf the first time he was at the club). Also love all the references to many classic films! This movie is just pure fun from beginning to end, and it still makes me laugh so much today! :D
You know, when I saw the The Avengers movie for the first time, part of me was thinking in the back of my head "Would the Avengers have been able to stop Loki if he had the Mask?". It's like trying to stop a literal cartoon character that's practically a god in the real world.
@@rushmaverick1923 When i saw son of the mask and loki himself transform it told me that Loki doesn't require the mask because all it does is give a mortal the ability replicate his powers with a certain limit of time .(The mask only working at night.) ya know?
@@Dogmaguy74 The Loki from the MCU and that Loki have completely different powers sets, aside from the ability to shapeshift. One Loki and create illusions, the other can warp reality. Compared to the MCU Loki, the Loki from Son of the Mask is way more powerful, so giving his powers to a different version of himself would definitely make things more difficult for the Avengers.
Even the cartoon series of this one was my childhood on Cartoon Network! The voice actor really pulled off Carrey's vocal tones and attitude. Other Jim carrey stuff that'll make your ass laugh it up: Ace Ventura 1-2, Dumb and Dumber, Me Myself and Irene, Liar Liar, Cable Guy, Bruce Almighty.
Didn’t see anyone clear this one up: “That’s a spicy meatball!” was a line from an old classic ad (for Alka-Seltzer. It showed a guy filming *another* ad, but after like half a dozen takes of eating the spaghetti and saying the line, he needed something to settle his stomach…)
RIP to the best comedian ever. He was supposed to be the next big thing. Richard Jeni. But he was severely mismanaged. His comedy specials on RUclips are one of a kind!
The the Mask of the Norse god of Mischief has one journey left in it before being taken back to Asgard by Odin himself and placed the weapons vault of Asgard...
so, either reaction videos to horror movies or to comedies with a silly tendency are my favourites from your channel. this one was really entertaining. i really like it, when somebody laughs at a stupid pun, it always makes me laugh 😅 anyway, this has probably already been mentioned, but the source comic to this movie actually is pretty dark and more according to what people would do, if they had unlimited, cartoon-esque powers. i hope somebody tries to adapt that in the future some time. i would love it.
The Algorithm put this video in front of me again: the first Trixy Blue vid I ever watched! It was nice to see it again and I am impressed by how far you've come since!
It's pretty insane how they managed to do that with this 1994 movie yet flicks that came out years after like the 2001 Mummy Returns has such a bad CGI that it's hard to watch today.
It was not. Not by a long shot. The Adventures of Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) had a scene where a priest is attacked by a knight from a stained-glass window brought to life, which still holds up fairly well today. Then there's the Pseudopod from The Abyss, (1989) and the T-1000's liquid metal form in T2 (1991) both of which still work. And you're also forgetting Jurassic Park (1993). While most of the dinosaur footage was done using traditional methods, the CGI effects were blended very well. The Brachiosaur reveal is STILL held up as a triumph of visual effects today.
@@Ambaryerno Young Sherlock Holmes was the first CG character in film. The Mask was the first to seamlessly blend CGI with a live actor, when his face turned into a wolf, or his heart beat in his chest, etc.

"smoking" she says in the end, we gotta find Blue a mask of her own ... Love the reaction "he is on so many drugs..." and Milo is the unsong hero. This is one of those movies I believe you can watch a million times. It just makes you feel good and smile.
The Mask dramatically faking his own death in front of Dorian Tyrell's thugs in the film is an homage to Bugs Bunny dramatically faking his own death in front of Elmer Fudd from the 1940 Bugs Bunny short, A Wild Hare.
As I recall the mask was supposed to embody loki the god of mischief. Which is why things go all sorts of out of hand when people wear it. That said watching people watch and enjoy the comedy years later is priceless. Comedy doesn't usually transcend generations unless it's rather prolific. I enjoyed the reaction..and hope you continue down what ever reaction viewer hole you go down. I think after this the 5th element would be next...but that's me.
Such a fun reaction, I enjoyed watching your reaction as much as I enjoy watching this movie. So watching you watching it while watching some of the actual most watchable scenes together... was an extra super double enjoyable watching experience.... that's a lot of watching 😂😂😂 I also think my own jokes are funny (a reference to your Kill Bill vol 1 reaction).... and my enjoyment had nothing to do with your extraordinarily stunningly beautiful good looks, breathtaking eyes, or your gorgeous smile and cute laugh... it was more your cute little noises and excitement whenever a scene started to turn around for Stanley, usually whenever Milo was saving the day, he was the Real hero in this movie imo 😁 Another hilarious and silly Jim Carrey movie that is definitely worth watching is, Bruce Almighty, I think it would also make a great reaction video that I haven't seen anyone else do. Edit: oh and also the Ace Ventura movies if you haven't seen them yet 👊👍
