Bonded is my sweet spot. Old grand bonded and early times are my go to at this money range.
It's always nice to hear of affordable good whiskey! Cheers
I like em Jim beam is great however heaven hills Evan Williams really does work for me bottled and bond $$ good product for everyday drinking
Yes I totally agree. Evan Williams Bottled in Bond is great whiskey!
Bottle and bonded is my Goldielocks pick I like 114 in January
It’s very good. Be on the lookout for my new video posting in the next few weeks where I make KING Grand-Dad
Bottle bond tastes like a 100$ bottle
I've purchased like 12 of them this past year.
It’s very good. I like it a lot.
Not huge into the peanut dust notes
haha they have some other very good qualities too.
@@TheWhiskeyCove Im sure. Its just not to my taste.
Where did you get OGD bonded for $15-16?
In Colorado. I think what I was saying if you pro rate it to 750ml as it was a 1 liter I bought for 19$
@@TheWhiskeyCove Oh wow, that's nice. For some reason that is priced super high In NV. The biggest size the state gets for that is 750mL & lowest I've seen it is $26 total. In MA they have the 1L for $23.99.
@@motohead077 the 114 is also usually at 29.99 but I’ve seen it at 24.99 quite a bit recently.
@@TheWhiskeyCove just saw the 114 for $24 here in Brownsville, TX. (btw, I looked up ODG reviews since i picked up a bonded one right now and your review of the lineup is EPIC). Exactly what I was hoping to see.
@@losingitrush awesome man and glad you like it. I’m a big fan of old grandad. Obviously you have to be realistic for the price point but well worth the money. Thanks for watching.
My favorite bourbon for the price is Old Grand-Dad 100 proof. For beer, Voodoo Ranger Juice Force IPA. Both have a citrus note.
Ah voodoo ranger from my neck of the woods! They make some great beer up at new Belgium.
@@TheWhiskeyCoveI live near the Jim Beam distillery in Frankfort KY- note the OGD 114 sold here lists both Clermont and Frankfort on the label. We get the New Belgium beers from their Ashville NC brewery.
All 3 are affordable and very consistent with the quality of the juice 👌 🥃👍. Very Underrated too.
I like the description of "thin." I've used "meh" or "boring" before, but I think I prefer "thin," now. Gives the impression that if it had stayed in the barrel longer, it would be richer. Also, in my limited experience, I'm finding that most "Bottled in Bond" bottles seem to be the sweet spot for value. I suspect, though, as my pallet develops, I may start appreciating the 30 to 50 dollar range, soon.
Bottled in bond is nice for sure, but once you start hunting Single barrel bourbon. More money but very tasty whiskey
I’d love to see OGD 114 against bookers!
The older discontinued (2004) 86 proof was a lot better. Also I’ve had Bonded bottles from over 20 yrs ago that were way better than the new stuff. But still I always recommend the Bonded to new Bourbon drinkers.
Unfortunately that's how it is with most stuff now, not just whiskey. Imagine how good whiskey was prior to 1962 when max barreling proof the law allowed was 110 & how good the value was when 1/2 gallon bottles were legal.
The 114 OGD is a great value for the money and a strong statement in high proof bourbon. I will have to try that bonded!
I knew the 114 was solid but that bonded was great!
I’ve done a 50/50 blend of Bonded/114 and it was quite good. I might have to grab a bottle of the 80 proof and try a couple more.
old grandad 114 is really affordable if you can find it. it used to be just about on every shelf but has gone missing since covid. great vid patrick
Where’s that accent from?
Wales originally. About a decade stateside
One of the best reviews out there 👌
Thanks man! I have a new video coming up in the next few weeks. We make King Grand-Dad. Can you guess how it’s made lol?
Old Grandad is my daily ginger/bourbon drink! I've spoken to a lot of experienced bartenders who swear by it! People always make fun of me when I break it out, then fine out they picked up a bottle the next day!
OFD 114 is 14% better than the BIB. !>)
See whatcha did there! Thanks for watching!
I use to love drinking Old Granddad Whiskey 80 proof. But unfortunately it’s now hard to find in the city I live in.
It’s crazy how the last year or two that it’s been like that. It just goes to show it’s good whiskey and people have caught on to it.
It's my favorite. Stop buying it. It used to cost less and tasted slightly better years ago.
Haha I’m all stocked up now thanks.
What is your highest scores whiskey?
I enjoy your videos for the information and perspective.
George T stagg 2022 was 98 and Russel's single Rickhouse I think was 96.
I like whiskey I love ol grand dad
It’s great for the price! Cheers
At 3:07 you said it was about $10. Here in northern California (about 100 miles south of the Oregon border) I find it for $20.
Yeah that's how it is in Maryland- I'd love to find it for $10!😀
@@freestaterevolution Right? I find it to be good stuff.
I like Old Grand Dad Bonded as an easy sipper in the summer. I love OGD 114 and have 4 backup bottles on my shelf. ( I found it for $20 at a store in Wisconsin and bought 4!) I also buy extra bottles of OGD 114 to give to friends who have not tried it.
Some great presents to give friend. Do you find 114 spicy?
@@TheWhiskeyCove . Just a little spicy to me. I taste more of a peanut than spice.
Please just drink it
😂
OGD BIB is the best to me. Keep all three on the bar thought. BIB is an orange citrus bomb.
