- In this video I’m cleaning up the 63 country sedan wagon that has been sitting partially covered in possibly a barn or someone’s garage or yard for many years.
It has some minor rust on the body in the normal spots corners of the doors, lower rear quarter panels and a good amount of light surface rust on the remaining lower panels and of course the normal surface rust on the roof and tops of the fenders and tops of the doors.
With a little elbow grease and some Ajax I was able to clean most of the surviving paint.
LUCKY!!! Barkeepers Friend powder works EVEN BETTER than Ajax. It has Oxalyic Acid and dissolves more of the rust without removing as much paint. It also removes rust stains from chrome and stainless without scrubbing, just dab it on w a sponge and let it sit for a bit. It's like Tartar Control Ajax. Diggin your videos
Happy Thanksgiving, Lucky VIRGINIA & ROY
Too bad you can’t Ajax off what someone did to the hood! But then again you know all kinda cool tricks so I’m sure you’ll work some kinda magic!
Very cool
Will this get a satin clear sprayed over to protect the rust oops I mean "patina"
My dad always used comet to get rust stains off his car windows because of the hard well water. I tried it on my patinad car years ago and have continued to do so for years
Just watched HRG love this Galaxy Wagon. It deserves a built Ford FE Big Block or a Stroker big block 460.
Bitchin wagon. I’m a fan myself same year but a falcon. Always a thumbs up wherever ya go.
Nice tip on rust removal. Hey when we going to see you on some new HRG shows? I have motor trend on demand last show was of Alex wining roadkill nights, Whole family enjoys the show
What ever happened to the pontiac convertible you had sent out for bodywork on HRG?
Hi Lucky. Is that just oxidation that your cleaning off. What is that wagon any how.
Did I miss an episode? I haven’t seen this vehicle before. Is this one from Lucky’s detailing shop?
Lucky you can get someone more qualified to too do that. You're needed on bigger things
Never ever cared for patina unless it's on an original low milage car that wasn't sitting out in the weather for 50 years.
What a difference a little elbow grease makes.
Very cool! Reminds me of a road-trip from Memphis to Chicago, summer of 1961, when I was almost eleven years old, in my dad’s company car, a Chevy station wagon, all the way up there on two lane roads. The first time I ever used an outhouse was out back behind a gas station in northwest Tennessee. Scared the daylights out of me, but a boy’s gotta do what a boy’s gotta do! 😂 Thanks for all the good times, Lucky! ❤
People putting on fake patina and the people taking off real patina just need to swap cars.
This was extremely gratifying to watch. HAPPY THANKSGIVING, LUCKY!

What a difference cleansing powder and a *extra-mild* abrasive pad makes.

Lucky- will there be a next step to protect what's left like one of the patina products like Poppys? Wax or matte clear? I have similar situation with a 70 blazer. What about areas where the paint is dull but still good? Thanks for the vid! Happy Thanksgiving
