I'm going to do this... My car has some old wax that's a pain in the butt to get off..and ya...I was thinking of painting it but I am going to see how it looks after just washing it with comet...I was stuff with comet all the time ya know like in the house when I eventually get to it...but ya shouldn't be that much different?
Your car, truck, whatever your beater…😂😆 That got me, thanks for the video. I’m about to comet wash my old 72 Ranger XLT… I heard Freiburger talk about comet washing old vehicles on roadkill but he never really went into detail about it. Thanks for the video. I bet if you comet washed it and then used a mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil it would look amazing. Check that out if you haven’t. I think it’s 2 parts linseed oil to 1 part mineral spirits.
I did the linseed/spirits thing on my sweptline... Now I googled this video about comet wash to try and get it off, because there's so much sawdust and pollen stuck to it LOL
I believe CLR is fairly acidic so I would be cautious about using it. You would need to neutralize it with baking soda and water or it may cause more rust in the long run.
I have a question for I have a 71 f100 ranger the truck belonged to my grandfather and he decided to spray painted the truck John deer green years ago now it's cipping off so my question is how can I get the old John deer green off the truck and bring back the factory green back?
I’d first start with a good pressure wash, since it’s chipping you may be surprised at how much will come off. The remaining paint will most likely need to be sanded off.
a comet wash is also a great way to prep a surface for painting. I learned this in Dan Gelbart's video on coatings.
This was my actual question so thanks for the comment.
I just did this to my ‘76 D100 and it took away all the fading. The truck is perfect now, at least perfect for me haha. Thanks for showing this!
A very nice project truck!
You could coat it in penetrol to keep it looking good and keep it from rusting anymore.

That's amazing never would have thought of that
Great video I got a 67 k10 I'm gonna do like you did that one. Thanks.
That looks amazing. Thanks for the info.

@@willetling5597 lmao 🤣 maybe try more mineral spirits
Great job! Thanks
Hey there, what do you think of doing CLR first to get rid of some of the rust, and then do the comet on the paint part?

Dang ol doge boi messin with the camera n what all.

That's what I was thinking I am going to start with 400 and step
Throw some Penetrol on it now. It'll look amazing!
Great old D 100. I'd buy it b4 u did all that scrubbing...
I'm just using seagull poo to keep up the patina. Everytime I wash the truck I get another poo coating for free.
Yeah that works great too, I’m lucky enough to have a pine tree over my driveway so I get bird poo AND tree sap!
Are you gonna clear coat the truck or paint it?
I’m going to keep it like it is and let the patina evolve as it gets older and gets used.
@@RacingRejects wish I could do that with my c20 but it cant evolve anymore or she wont be streetable haha
I use Bon Ami instead of comet.
Any specific reason why? Just curious.
