Alright that's it, I'm going to linseed oil my 64 Chevelle rust bucket. Looks good on your truck. I like the way you did that green, matches up good enough from were I'm setting.
Really enjoy your channel...starting to be one of my favorite channels..your buddy from halfass garage is a wizard when it comes to fab work and all around automotive knowledge
Rusty Iron Projects R.I.P I agree ,he knows it would be a rookie move to have a hood scoop on a vehicle that that serves no purpose other than for “ looks “.
I actually didnt mind the grey door. It does look amazing now and glad to see the scoop gone. Its not a bad scoop just not for this old shop truck. Great video !
I love it. You started with a piece of crap and not only saved it cause you enjoy doing that but turned it into a fun ride with real asset value. Way to many guys get all fired up over something that ends up on Craigslist for the best offer. But your efforts are genuinely interesting and valuable, very impressive well done
I am not a big fan of fake patina, but overall I have to say I really like this truck. Love the old green paint with the primer showing through, and you have done a really good job of making it look uniform and nice. Good work!
Truck looks great! My DAd had one of these when I was growing up, I learned to drive a clutch in it (3 on the tree). He drove that thing for 20 years, gave it to a friend and I saw it driving around in the area for another 10 years. Great job!
The driver side door looks really good .You sure did move forward by going backwards .The theme flows together really well.As a kid some people said I had red hair because my brain was rusty. Boy if I knew then what I know now I could have been beautiful. Thanks for the video Dan ,looking forward to the TEE coming home.Spoke to big brother on Saturday , said I can have his '32 but not till it warms up.That car will never ever leave the family and will always be my BIG BROTHER"s car no matter how many years I get to enjoy it!
Looks badass, I'm glad you did the door it looks way better. And when you got done with the oil, that made it a hell of a big difference too.. Looks very very sharp, you did one hell of a job.. Keep those wrenches on turnin and the tires on burnin..
I've used Linseed oil on cricket bats back in the day (I'm Australian) and I've used Linseed oil on guitar necks when doing guitar repairs and it works great. I'm a mechanic of over 30 years and I've never seen anyone put Linseed oil on a vehicle before, but hey... well done, worked a treat. Learn something new every day. ;)
I’m glad you saved the truck. Wasn’t a fan of shortening it. Hate the fact of another LS swap. Glad that it is on the road though and not rotting away. Now about the oil on the truck. If someone is going to paint it they are in for a treat trying to prep the surface. The patina fad crowd is married to the look once they do that unless they take it all down to bare metal. Please don’t take this as hate. I love the channel. Big fan
Hey Dan. Nice job. I was thinking about giving my Fargo coats of red, green and white before the final topcoat. My final coat will be flat black. Then when I sand threw, it will look like there have been many paint jobs done to it over the 66 years of its life. Thanks for sharing.👍🍁 I see you still have snow out west. Here in Ontario, we have about 6" of icy snow on the ground.
@@DDSpeedShop Hey Dan. I was just thinking. There aren't many Canadians that are restoring the good old cars/trucks on RUclips. Is it because of our shitty weather?
my '79 GMC had been repainted. but i wanna use the scotch brite and linseed oil. some of it may be original paint. i think they painted over the two tone to match the dark blue of the rest. someone riveted on the old trim. also my fiberglass topper is a different shade of blue but almost matches. however my 1968 F500 utility bed is very brown rust and original paint probably.
The patina looks great the way you got it excellent blending talent there! Wish I could buy that truck but gotta get my nova done thanks again for videos! Can't wait till next one
Thank you thank you thank you. That truck now looks awesome. Exactly how it should look. Well done dude. Looking forward to seeing the t wrecks now. Especially with all the new found room in the garage for all the activities
100 percent ab so freakin lutely better with the door green. Loved the oil trick. That was very cool. Take that dang hood scoop and power brake on it and do a give away to a subscriber with it. 😄 Thanks for sharing again, Dan.
Ya I was one of the commenters that said paint that door . It looks good now I've had several 60s and early 70s Chevy trucks my first vehicle was a 1964 Chevy dually flatbed my dad's old truck he gave it to me when I was 18 years old it was same age as me I was born in 64 it was heavy duty big ole truck I loved it . It had the big straight 6 I think it was a 290 something and a four speed first gear would of pulled down a house . My favorite truck I owned was a 66 GMC fleetside short box I lowered it myself the cheap way heated the coils in front and messed with the leaf springs I loved that truck it was a six cylinder also original paint it was a pretty blue color I once owned a 66 Chevelle in blue too I miss my old Chevy's I owned a blue 70 Nova too I had to build that car I bought it as a roller. I was dumb I sold it too had a 65 Chevy 2 2 door too owe how I miss my old Chevy's
Man this is really cool, i have a 1970 gmc that I'm doing a vintage air swap in right now has a 283 with a 327 crank an runs good, was white but someone tried to grey primer over the original paint so it looks horrible. Thinking about doing what you did an try an go for a patina look
The linseed oil brings it all together and protects the rust from becoming cancer. I would drive that truck if I could buy it. It looks really cool man I love it. The short bed conversion looks awesome, that is what really makes it cool. I saw the "Turning Rust" Channel do the Boiled Linseed oil thing with the Scotch Brite pads thing, pretty cool looking for sure. Turning Rust channel is pretty cool too. Truck is Cool Cool Cool. You could put the hood scoope on just to do something you love and piss everyone off because its your channel. If you can put it on so its reversible with out cutting a hole in the hood that would be a shame the hood is so nice. It really would be a shame to cut a hole in that hood. Forgot the inside of the tailgate.
Dude me personally I like a nice clean new paint job. But with that said I really think that you did a hell of a job making it look blended and I really like the boiled linseed oil trick!! Have you ever seen Mustie1 on RUclips? I cant remember if he used that but I know he uses bar and chain oil and melted down toilet ring wax to preserve his vehicles! Again dude great job cant wait to see what you do with the T!!
Looks great Dan!! Thanks for doing the door and the center caps!! I try and send you some beauty rings for the wheels.....maybe get Brent to make a roll pan in place of a bumper??... you could louver it as another option to practice.....😂🤣
I put some buckets out of a Mini Cooper in mine which were all manual and I made a console which turned out nice. Cheap option for seats. My bench was in bad shape and felt like rock .
I'm glad you painted that door it really makes truck look good
Thanks
yeah im glad i did it
I don`t care what anybody says you did a great job on that door !! Without spending a ton it made the truck look 100% . Well done !
Man, if only our politicians listened to us like Dan does 🤔
haha
1928ModelA1931 🤣🤣
Being stuck inside, this is a refreshing distraction!
bummer! stay safe
That's probably the most love the finish on that pickup has seen since it left the dealership.
Alright that's it, I'm going to linseed oil my 64 Chevelle rust bucket. Looks good on your truck. I like the way you did that green, matches up good enough from were I'm setting.
haha no guarantees
I've seen a lot of people doing it. Thought it couldn't hurt to slow down the rust. Can't hurt the look. LMAO
I never dreamed it would look that good.
Mike
thanks mike!

I feel the same way. Mind you, I live in Manitoba also and am a "paper" gearhead - nice to see a guy with this talent and so down to earth.
Truck has really turned pretty cool. Looks better with door matched for sure. Great work. You sure get a lot done.
Thanks 👍
I’m glad you painted the door ...it does make the old girl look better .
thanks man!
Seeing that scoop sitting on the hood is making me nervous.
I'm sure it's there just to get us to comment. LOL

I actually didnt mind the grey door. It does look amazing now and glad to see the scoop gone. Its not a bad scoop just not for this old shop truck. Great video !

I'm with you there. I hope it's there just to get us to comment. Lol
Roger Loesch definitely run it over.. with vast hatred, like it owes him money!!

The truck looks great. I wouldn't pay attention to the hater's do what you want to it and make it yours. Mint 👌

You should try nu finish and make a video. I’ve wondered about that vs linseed oil
That's wild how you do that paint.
I liked to see you make a two door out of a 2000's Crown Victoria that looks as good as your 57.
maybe one day
