In three years, I went from having absolutely no experience in 3D Animation to working at DreamWorks Animation Studios teaching just about all of the 3D software used to make movies! Wow that's actually super helpful, I never thought of offsetting gestures from dialogue.
What do you find yourself struggling with in your shots? Is it acting? Mechanics? What do you feel like you aren't learning enough about in school?
Should I prefer online schools or animation colleges
It would be great to see what's your process of making an animation. I struggle with clearly dividing my work into blocking, refining and polishing stages. I'd be really helpful to hear some tips about that from you!
I think the anticipation of an action is a bit hard sometimes, especially if a specific character has their own way of doing thing, such as unique facial expressions, body language, and such...
For me it's timing. I always end up making pauses and holds last for exactly one or two seconds, rather than figuring out a natural length for each one.
For me I'm still trying to wrap my head around timing and spacing I tend to struggle with that the most in my shots

This is why taking an acting course is very important. I understand not everyone goes to a 4-year college university but if you do, its a mandatory class when you're getting an animation degree.
Great video Sir Wade! The "i dont know" one really helped me see how different the message can be with the timing of the gestures.
The good thing is you can watch the video again right after you watched the whole video to find all the pauses and gestures that Wade made while he was talking.
This is really cool. JD consistently has pointed out this in many of his Acting Analysis for Animators videos. You summing all that in this video by demonstrating multiple examples and variations made it even more clear.

Thanks Sir Wade, I've already watched your interview with JP before and found it super helpful, the subtext and other stuff that he mentioned has blown my mind, he gave an interesting idea on how he approached the dialogue shot, though I haven't done acting shot before but I will definetely watch it again! super super awesome!!!!!!
I like to use when you were explaining the process as I could see your body language begin before you started to speak and made it extremely simple to understand
I love acting, cause there is so much behind this, I didn't think of it before, but it makes so much sense...from now on, and i hope i never forget this ( i will save it for later anyways) hahah.. I will keep it in mind for my next acting choices! Thank you or sharing this tips with us, for some may seem obvious, but whene we are doing something right away don't always think about stuff like this.
Been a while since I was able to watch your video. It's like a breath of fresh air. I noticed that in the gesture that was made while talking, it seemed as though the person doesn't really care. It's pretty interesting.

this is fantastic...acting tips are really helpful..Currently working at someplace where they don't quite accept the idea of offsetting the acting from the dialogue,My shots dont get approved if its not hitting with the dialogue. Really Thankful as atleast im not wrong for thinking of working this idea.

just be self taught?
Is there like a requirement to get into a animation company;
Dreamworks ,Disney, Pixar,eg;
Like a degree of some sort.
Just at the moment animation mentor is a little bit out of reach price wise.

Is it necessary to make acting video myself Or finding random person to do acting for my animation shot will be fine because right now i don't know anything about acting. Sometimes i make good acting video but sometimes don't ???.

I have a question..
I have a problem with some movements in acting..
For example..
A hand texture when someone is angry.. The shaking of the hand is always hard to achieve on the timeline frames..
How i can do the shaking of the hand and do appear normal to the audience?
i kinda learn body language at the same time here.. extra helpful😁
