He's not wrong, this works AMAZINGLY well. It's like making an in situ compost heap that rots down whilst you grow on top. It does shrink back a good bit, but you're up and growing FAST and you repeat the process yearly until its genuinely full of some of the best homemade compost. Cracking idea! 👍
I love your content. I have been doing this for years. And I have to add more every year. This is the only issue. Other than that growing great crops in mid Missouri
Doing it with fresh organic matter means there will be a lot of shrinkage. I can't believe how much I've put in my raised beds and how much it has shrunk, to almost nothing and that's even with some top soil added

Can’t beat a good “zhuzh”.
Mark, I like that we learn all the technical horticultural terms from you - like zhuzh! lol. Seriously, great video as always!
😂
I've been wondering how to spell that for a while❤
I’ve always wondered how to spell zhuzh! 😅😅😅 Yet another thing learned from this channel 😊
Zhuzh came into the English language from Romani Gypsies and it means to clean something. Hearing it used like this is disappointing and nonsense.
@@jjboswell5043 oh no such disappointment
Ahhh, I've seen some put old logs in them. I was tickled that u used the zhuzh for muching!!!!😂
I'm slow what is zhuzh
What's the last ingredient

Hmm, I'm wondering about those pumpkins...
Will they eventually sprout, even though they have been buried?
Good to see you again
Mark is a keeper 😉. Thanks Mark for your loving commitment, generosity and you are such a great bloke ✅👍
yes>>>if you have any paper products fill too>>>>all cardboard works>>>>>and next year>>>That soil will be a rich black diamond soil
Followed your advice and that’s what I did too in my raised bed!!!

Thats awesome! Getting my house m8 enthused as a lazy gardener? Your ideas help her get "Motivated"
zhuzhing up the outfit ……I mean the mulch with the secret ingredient….horse manure?
❤ Mark zhuzhing up his bonza garden! Those fruit trees!!
Russell Crowe I love you man.

I wondered about the heat from breakdown, but this is winter for you, so I'm guessing it's a benefit.
How long until you can grow in that bed?
Straight away. I planted potatoes in it directly. Cheers :)
@@SelfsufficientmeI knew it! Potatoes! Great idea.
Doggyo checking u out😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
Yes!! Nothing gets wasted!! (Unless it's diseased) And zhuszh!! That's a word. 😂😂
Steven Irwin but for plants
Cricky
I usually just throw my rotted pumpkins in the compost heap so I ensure I get a crop for next year.
Russel Crowe of home gardening
im wanting to use palm fronds, does that work?
Yes and I was grossed out when you didn't don a pair of gloves to mix that last ingredient in!
😎
You know you can feed your chickens with the pumpkins it’s excellent feed
Water Is the last ingredient .. Is It ?
That straw is $19 per 2.5 cubic feet. I might as well buy soil!
You are being robbed. Go to a farmer. It's way cheaper.
Is mold or flies an issue with this type of plant matter that is decomposing? What if we wanted to put something like this in a small pot indoors?
Let it decompose outside. Only after it has broken down into compost, then use it inside
Leftover straw?
I wish! Too rich to waste (but I dont need newrly as much as you do, so I'm stuck paying a premium for smaller amounts)
I love it but the all seeing eye on hat and shirt makes em a little nervous 😅
I found my straw doesn't break down but turns into a moldy muck...do you have a way to get it to break down.
Keep turning it. Make sure it gets warm and wet
@@baalqefel1570 hard to turn with corn stalks growing on it!!!!
@@hherrera9855 hahahaha add compost. Its not a bad thing, you just need some worms
I think only You alone in this Shift..... Where is your Morals and value ❓❓
Mat-ta?
Is water or manure the last ingredient?
I was guessing potatoes... 😅
Mr 💩 is the last ingredient
💚🍀🤙✌️🖖
Zhuzh
How do You keep rodents out?
No logs or rocks?
Nothing to hold water better...
Everything he put in holds water
Look like Compost , for me 🤨 ...
It will take a Time to become the Soil 😂 ...

How much material can the sprouting pumpkins push through?
Not a fan of shorts made of stuff we've already seen 🫤 More interesting to see bits that don't make a full video, updates etc.
Shorts are usually a first engagement content for new viewers to come
