As someone who went back to college almost 10 years after high school, it is NEVER too late to follow your dream and pursue what makes you happy. Other peoples perceptions of timelines do not matter when you are working towards YOUR future. If anyone sees this comment and is struggling with their decision on if they should switch careers or majors to do something that the older generation thinks is a "frivolous" choice but will make you happy DO IT!!! It is your life and you only have so many years to enjoy it before it is too late. FOLLOW YOUR HEART AND FUCK THE REST
Following your heart leads to a very fulfilling life. I learned that lesson the hard way. I let family, friends, and society determine my career choices, to my heart’s own detriment. Chasing money led me to a very devastating end. Now, 18 years after high school, I’m finally giving my heart a chance and starting all over again. Money comes more easily now, which is ironic. It’s like the universe supports my decision. I know I’m not alone in my experience. I know that Asian families put a lot of pressure on their kids to succeed in lucrative left brain careers. Ugh. Fuck the money. Your heart knows best.
not that I’m focused on this but since mostly alone it’s easier to not listen to most.. and I feel if you ask ten people for advice you might get ten things and now have to grow through all this and end up at end still having to decide , only with added burden of these ten? so back at square one.. easier to gather info why not but think through self and obviously whatever u come up with initially can change and that A okay. A lot of times I’ve experience some well all usually against what I’m doing now, then and I’m sure in future.. I keep trekking and eventually 9 outta 10 come around not by convincing or really caring to be honest cause I’m focused and what I’m kinda doing.. Point being I totally get it, to do you and f’m but I feel not that kinda f’m with some.. they can come around, maybe they lack proper knowledge or need more experience in what your involved in if interested. not sure idk
You're always beautiful!! That's not only appearance, fashion style, artworks, but also this gallery wall... I couldn't express to words. I always love your art vlog video!!✨💕😍
I recently learned that water actually dries out acrylics. Instead of rinsing your brushes while painting, simpy wipe them off. You can use wetting agent instead of water if you want to wipe more paint out of your brushes. Only rinse them with water when you are done with them. Make sure the brush is competely dry before using it again. It really works. This lets your acrylic paints stay wet longer. If that first painting was actually water-soliable oil, then disregard this.
Oh dear, yet I'm always spritzing my prepped acrylic paints with a mixture of retarder and water. So that's why they dry out so fast. Really frustrating! Thanks for the tip!
Was recommended your art studio makeover and have been watching since, you have inspired me so SO much ! I really hope you find happiness in this and that you succeed in your career!! you are so warm and encouraging
Loved the pieces, the self portrait and floral arrangements were probably my favorites :) I also appreciate your willingness to tell your story. Making yourself vulnerable is risky, but lends encouragement to others ❤️. Thanks for doing these inspiring videos!!!
Usually I watch RUclips while doing my homework. But I’m mesmerized every time you paint, it’s impossible for me to do my homework while watching your videos because I can’t look away from them. Keep on painting Ashleigh! You are definitely going to get very far in this field.
Your art is gorgeous and so are you. You are so talented and have inspired me to paint again after I had lost confidence in myself. I love your videos and hope you have another for your viewers to enjoy ♥️
I absoloutely Loved that you put your Art up on the wall! I have only just done this due to the fact that people like what I have painted. Prior to that I didnt think my art was good enough just goes to show. Thank You for your inspiration.
I’ve been unmotivated to do anything art because of depression but I recently started to pick back up on it and your few videos have really made me want to do a portrait, your videos are art itself, thank you ❤️
Long awaited video that truely did not disappoint. Trying different things does keep things fresh, you will settle for a time on one type of medium for a time and than switch to another. I haven't seen too many artists that stick to one forever few do. One can tell that you are getting better with each portrait you do. Making mistakes is ok and you noticed it right away and corrected it. That is a good thing so dont let it frustrate you. Portraits are one of the most difficult things to paint or draw even of ourselves. It takes a lot more practise than say a landscape. Landscapes if you make an error only you will notice it and even than nature is not as perfect at a distance as a c,ose up of a face. You are getting better and its noticable. Keep going, keep painting. The gallery wall is a great idea i may borrow it from you seeing how i have a lot of wall space and art just stacked up all over. You will find that our experiences good or bad will help us in a lot of things in life. For example taking business, as boring as it seemed, will help you in Art and in everyday life. Not going to university to study art is not a bad thing it allows you to progress without an influence of some teacher or teachers to copy their style. RUclips videos are sorta the same but glean what bits and parts from them that you want. Your videos are not protraying a style but a seach for where you want to end up and that is refreshing and i think why so many people watch you. You should make a email or a post office box that people can share things with you or even send items that they created to you. Just a thought. I truely look forward to your next video and seeing your progress. Just keep the positive things people tell you and ignore the negative that will eventually come along as your channel grows and it is growing very fast. Just be you.
I so appreciate all your comments Randy. You have given me great advice and encouragement! And it’s great to hear you see an improvement in my portraits already! I feel like the practice I’ve been able to do has helped tremendously as well. The PO Box idea is a great idea. I’ll look into that. Wishing you the best with your own gallery wall. Thanks again for your support.
Thank you for sharing about your art journey!! It truly is inspirational for someone like me who is about to graduate college but still so unsure about what career I want to pursue 🥺 I wish to follow my passion for the arts but I’m not very confident in my abilities. Thank you for sharing, and I love your art and vlog style!!
I love that you actually put up your own peices on the gallery wall - I think many of us get hung up on wanting a quick and controlled aesthetic that we just go and thrift haul some posters and hang them up. I love the personality and warmth of this!
The way you present yourself is amazing. Your way of talking captured my attention. Thank you for this. Watching this felt like therapy, you have renewed my motivation.
You made a beautiful art wall! I love how it looks and how you tried other artstyles and techniques. Your art journey is very inspiring to me. When it was hard to listen to yourself you maybe didnt do it but after you realise what makes you happy you go for it. And your rocking it!! You are so talented and you can do it! I love your vids! I am in love with your artworks! Especially with the background music, it's just so soothing. All of your videos are so aesthetic and always inspire me to paint and try new things.
I just found your channel today whilst searching for “art studio room ideas” & am now a subscriber. I absolutely love your content: I find your videos, background music, your voice & content extremely relaxing & inspiring. Your super talented! It’s scary to venture into the unknown, but as you said in your art studio set-up video: (to the effect of): having jobs that allow us to embrace glimpses of what we’re passionate about, though not fulfilling; when the drive to pursue something that’s been inside of one their entire life, it’s hard to deny it. I agree that it’s so important to explore different areas in art, (in life) outside of our comfort zone-> this is where we learn more about ourselves. “Growth happens at the end of our comfort zone “ ❤
It's so calming^^ The way you edit your videos,it's so relaxing to watch. I've been waiting for your new video regularly since I saw your first video. Your videos are so beautiful
i’ve never really been that into painting or anything artistic but after seeing the process and the journey of creating you’ve given me some motivation to start learning & creating !! thank you for that
Just loved watching your videos! So glad you decided to do it and can’t wait to see what amazing things come from this. I would personally love to see some videos on step by steps using different paint.. like a how to paint with oils, watercolour, acrylic… etc! ❤️❤️
Wow, your channel is so nice, your art is very beautiful, not only the paintings but the video itself, your honesty… all of it. I’m glad you decided to take this route, it’s quite inspiring.
I swear to god your videos are so calming and soothing that it helped me with my Anxiety phase which I am going through currently. It helped me calm down a lot better than relying on medicines. Keep up the awesome work. :D
I cannot tell you how refreshing it is to hear an Artist on RUclips talk about Chicago, I'd always felt so outcasted when the majority of online personas talk about Nevada and California. You've recently showed up on my recommended and I honestly can't wait to see what this new journey and focus has in store for you!!!!
I've had a gallery wall in every place I've ever lived, but not with my own art! I'm lucky to have had a grandmother, sister and daughter who have provided me with art. Also have garage sale art, ebay, and Etsy on my walls! I would like to see you explain your placement and content thoughts on creating an interesting gallery wall. Love your videos! Thank you so much for sharing yourself and your world with us.
Just discovered your channel. You are an inspiration. Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated. It was what I needed to help get me out of my artistic block at this time. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
I just recently found your channel and I'm glad I did, your art is gorgeous! I'm much older , 50 and started doing art to help with depression and fell in love with it. But a lot of my own negatively gets in my way a lot. What I see in my mind is beautiful art but trying to get that on canvas or paper is so difficult. ... your abstract painting was my favorite 😍
Very beautiful work and the abstract piece you did, spoke to me in a way that conveyed a range of complex thoughts and emotions that could only be expressed and understood in that form. Thank you for sharing that. Also, your views and thoughts on art and on your own personal growth as an artist are inspiring. Since you've started this channel, I've seen exponential growth in you as a person/artist and your willingness to not be perfect and to allow yourself room for change in order to improve, only adds credence to your growth as well as your level of authenticity. No gimmicks just you, your raw talent and your paintbrush...thank you
So very kind of you to say! I’m so happy to hear you s resonated with that piece, as I thoroughly enjoyed making it. I feel like I’ve grown a lot too through this entire experience. Thank you for noticing. Have a great day!
I loved this! I'm so happy I discovered you. I agree, trying different styles is so important. You've encouraged me to finally dive deep into my own experimentation with freedom to explore! Also, creating a gallery wall has been on my list for so long. Really wonderful to watch you put this together. Cheers from California! xo.
I made the same kind of career decision as you did. I studied science instead of art because I thought I have to make a living. But I never forgot about my passion for art. Now 20 years later I'm still making art as my hobby and I have just started even a RUclips channel for watercolour. So who knows with technology we could do anything we want.🥰💞
your art journey is inspiring. I quit my job as a scientific researcher 3 years to pursue my dream as an artist in my 30s. I'm learning everyday, it's not a easy road, but I feel fulfilled and happy :) I wish you all the best.
An art groupie's perspective: After watching this, I decided to stop messing around and to sub your channel already!! This was a fun kind of "can-do" challenge to watch unfold! The pieces you created, and your process for each piece, were different and fascinating, and the pieces work together beautifully to create your gallery wall. There's a lot to be said for being able to do a successful self-portrait, including modeling for it, finding both the likeness and the statement, and trusting your process. There's also a lot to be said for curating an eclectic art exhibit in your own space in a way which allows each work to speak, yet brings them together cohesively. You wore several hats successfully in this video. Your poem with the "Don't be nervous" quote took me back to a music theory entrance exam I took not too many years ago, and a fellow test-taker's timely advice to me just before the start of the test when she saw my slight look of panic. We shared a laugh, and that little light moment propelled me through the test with good results and with no further nerves. If this had only been a sit-down "story time" video about your varied journey to where you are now, it would have been inspirational, especially since you gained something valuable with each experience, but the symbolism of watching the confidence with which you transformed a blank wall into a representative gallery wall, as you chronicled the ups and downs of the journey which has brought you to this point...great stuff!!
Oh wow! You’ve described the meaning behind this vlog better than I could have haha! Thank you so much for your kind words. It was such a great experience, exploring these different styles and curating them into one collection, in a sense. Hopefully it is a practice I can keep up throughout my art career. Again, I appreciate your wisdom and kindness. Wishing you the best!
Truly inspiring! My journey is slightly similar...though I still struggle to find courage as am constantly scared of not meeting my expectations! Great paintings and all the best...hope to keep seeing more of your journey :)
Thank you for sharing your art journey. I was torn between animals and art my whole life and I still am. I took courses in community college but perhaps it was just the school or the time but I never felt as though I was learning more and I gave up. I have now had a surge and a spark that has made me reconsider pursuing art again. You have helped me more than you know
I’m new to your channel and your videos give me a great sense of calm and serenity. Loved the flower painting in This video, would love to see you do more and hear about your journey. Best wishes 👍🏻
Omg, precious, this video has helped me a lot. Thank you for showing your naturalness and your essence through all your videos. I really liked that you have shared your experience in the world of studies. I still do not have very clear that I will study in the future since like everyone, we do not want to choose a bad option. I don't know, this video has served me as a lot of inspiration, I hope you are super good. Thank you with all my heart for transmitting your magic and helping me.You are incredible and wonderful person. ✨💓💐💌
I’ve never related to someone that much as to you. I’m an architecture student obsessed with painting. i was considering changing majors but I’m too scared of art school that I thought about marketing . But now I’m still stuck at my uni trying to finish at least Bachelor, but then I’m really starting to think more about pursuing art. Architecture was a choice made mostly because of influence of my family. I’m really impressed and admire your bravery to follow your dream. I wish you all the best
Thank you for sharing that vulnerable ending about art school. I'm currently in that space at the moment, haven't applied to an art school, but my portfolio is ready even though I'm being pulled in a different direction. We'll see.
I hope you enjoyed this vlog! Which painting was your favorite? ☺️ oh and as always let me know if I need to add your language translation.
omg yes I enjoyed it so much! so calming and comforting aaa
Korean, Japanese OK?

I have also a drawing tutorial youtube channel place me🙏🙏🙏🙏
Such a fun way to explore different techniques, loving the moody landscape and self portrait 🌻
Thanks Molly! ☺️
Beautiful painting, the color composition so natural, keep going to create new painting and explore new objects 👍🎨🍹
Thanks so much!
I loved this! I'm so happy I discovered you. I agree, trying different styles is so important. You've encouraged me to finally dive deep into my own experimentation with freedom to explore! Also, creating a gallery wall has been on my list for so long. Really wonderful to watch you put this together. Cheers from California! xo.
Ah that’s wonderful! It was such a great experience for me and think its so important! Wishing you the best ☺️💖
I made the same kind of career decision as you did. I studied science instead of art because I thought I have to make a living. But I never forgot about my passion for art. Now 20 years later I'm still making art as my hobby and I have just started even a RUclips channel for watercolour. So who knows with technology we could do anything we want.🥰💞
me encanta la vibra del canal es tan inspirador y relajante lo amo
I love how you are passion about art, you inspire me so much. Thank you 💙🌼
What a great gallery wall! Once I have enough paintings I'll probably want to do the same. Great vibes in these videos. Now I have to get drawing!
I'm learning many things from you - art and life. Thank youu, you are one of my inspirations
your art journey is inspiring.
I'm so glad RUclips recommend your first video to me and now I can't stop watching your videos😄 you deserve to be recognized more!❤️
Truly inspiring! My journey is slightly similar...though I still struggle to find courage as am constantly scared of not meeting my expectations! Great paintings and all the best...hope to keep seeing more of your journey :)
Thank you! I understand how that feels..wishing you the best! ☺️💖
@@AshleighKing Thank you! 😊💜🎨
I LOVE THE FLORAL PAINTING..
Thank you for sharing your art journey. I was torn between animals and art my whole life and I still am. I took courses in community college but perhaps it was just the school or the time but I never felt as though I was learning more and I gave up. I have now had a surge and a spark that has made me reconsider pursuing art again. You have helped me more than you know
So beyond happy to hear this ❤️ wishing you the best!

Omg, precious, this video has helped me a lot. Thank you for showing your naturalness and your essence through all your videos. your life story is a touch of gold to another wonderful vlog
Wow, thank you!
We'll see.
