Spider noir?! Come on, man! Why the title change again, when you had "spiderman noir" right there?! The fans are smart enough to know this isn't, in any way, related to spidey in the mcu!
Do u mean them making him Ben instead of Peter? That has nothing to do with the title change. And he’s always been called spider noir officially and by fans
So in this Spider-Man Noir series inpired in the comic book character Spider-Man Noir Ben Reily will be the protagonist and Spider-Man and there will be actual monsters and almost all of the villains of the comics won't appear or will be completely diferent... This isn't Spider-Man Noir. First lets talk about Ben and not Peter. In the original comics Peter being Peter is important for his morals and relathionship with the others around him. And there is also the fact that we already have 2 Bens on the original story, Uncle Ben that is dead and Ben Ulrich that is Peters "Mentor". If they just grab Peters relatioships and give them to Ben then what is the reason to change the name? "Because people will be confused with MCU one" I think people are smart enough to understand that it is a diferent Peter, are we forgetting about the Movue with the THREE Peter Parkers? And there is also the fact that most people watched Spider-verse and understand that Peter Parker is Spidey-Noir. The Villains being monster... just no. The original Noir universe is a lot more grounded universe (Yes Peter gets his power trough a mistical spider but the rest is pretty normal) and that is what makes the Noir universe interesting and unique. Transforming those villains with extraordinary gadgets or powers and turning them into an more grounded and scary version makes them unique. The Noir universe is exactly what the name suggests, a Noir inpired marvel universe. That is the reason why Peter uses guns in the story, why is romantic interest is Felicia Hardy, why there are elements of horror and terror, why the story goes to a lot of dark places, why it has mistery elements and why this series takes place in an certain time and place. I know people will use the old "Its an diferent verison they want to be diferent", yes you can change but you have to still be able to look and say "Yeah, thats Spider-Man noir" if you can't do that then don't change. People like the comics for some reason after all! And there is another point, this story has never been adapted (Noir apeared but the story didn't), why can't you adapt it and intreduce it to those who never read the comics? So yeah, I'm not excited to this series. If you are good for you and it can be an awesome series, but it won't be Spider-Man Noir. Some spoilers of the original comics for you to understand my points. There will be HEAVY SPOILERS for the comics!! For those who don't know, in Noir storys is very common for the main characters romantic interest to be someone with an mystirious and sometimes dark past to contrast the protagonist. The protagonist being a Man without a future and romantic interest being a Woman without an Past. I know that in the post spider-verse comics Peters romantic interest is MJ and I hate that change with all my hearth. Yes Peters and Felicias relationship would be hard to work, but that is the point. Has anyone ever watched Cowboy Bebop or Lupin the Third, than you know that is part of the relationship. Its a relationship that may not have future but you can also see it working even if is wrong or dangerous. Yes in the end of the story Eyes without a Face Felicia goes away and she and Peter don't end on the best terms, but that can work as an end to their romance and as also and bad moment of their story. If the story continued they could work things out or never actually work it out, in this types of storys the "will or won't they" and the "Inevitable tragedy" reign supreme. The goblin and other villain being human makes them more scary in the story. The villain of the first story is a man that controls the city and in the second the villains are an maniac and an racist/evil genius. It explores the human mind and shows that behind an monster there is just a man (I don't believe no one watched Scooby-Doo). But the story also explores tragedy, in the end of the second story Robbie suffers and lobotomy from Octavius, Peter wins but there were casualties and one of them was one of his best friends. Noir storys end with tragedys a lot of times even if the hero wins in the end.
I don’t know what to say about that Nicholas Cage is playing Ben Riley since he doesn’t even exist in the Noir and there is no clone saga in that universe as for the rest of the Noir Marvel universe you haven’t seen the other heroes like X-Men Noir. Well Norman Osborn in the noir is called the Goblin because of his green skin as he was a circus freak as that’s where his gang from including the Vulture came from and Sandman did appear in the sequel to the first comic only he didn’t turn into sand but a hard to kill person.
I have a personal theory that in his youth he was Peter Parker, but he started going by Ben Reilly to distance himself from May to keep her safe if anybody discovered who he was. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me anyways.
I dont think they changed it to not confuse audiences. I think Sony legally cant do a live action peter parker or else they wouldve saved their asses by now rather than doing "morbius" and "madame web". "Ben Reilly" is just another Spider-man adjacent character they have the full rights for. I think the only true spiderman content Disney will allow them to do is animated movies and video games. They cant even make animated cartoons for him.
Ok as much as I like the idea of a Spider-Man noir series but I can’t help notice why is the character Peter being replaced by Ben Reilly? On top of that why is Nicholes Cage is back to voicing Spider-Man Noir (now before you start I don’t hate his acting , I’m just wondering why he is the voice of him again)? He already voice him the spider verse, soooo…… beats me 🤷♂️? On the other hand, I am looking forward to see a fresh start for a new version of a Spider-Man character. I hope Vulture would make an appearance, as well as Felicia Hardy.
honestly, if you go into this series without expecting a one-to-one adaptation of the comics, this will probably be a great watch. adaptations don't have to be the same thing in a different form of media, as long as the artists and writers behind this show get to express themselves and they tell good stories- then theres no issue here. if you wanna see a good spider-man noir story, read the og comics, they're still there.
@@almas4663 oh no you're absolutely right, what i'm saying is that the contents of the story don't have to be one-to-one for the writers to understand the core of spider-man, furthermore the core of what spider-man noir is.
I don’t get why they changed it from being Peter Parker to Ben Riley, or at least I don’t understand why they thought people would be confused about it. With all the multiverse stuff going around and multiple different spider people, you would think that it would be obvious that spider man noir is an alternate universe version of Peter, but they still went ahead and changed it. Oh well, I’m hoping they don’t stray too far away from the comics and that they make a show with a good story, good characters, and good fight scenes.
They should delve into the igsotic nature of Spider-Man Noir and the scientific characters of Spider-Man for their monster idea. Give Spider-Man Noir Spider-Man enemies who are either supernatural or results of mad scientist shenanigans of Norman, Conners, or someone else and have superpowered villains and tech based villains be retro tech based. Like rhino from 2014 the amazing Spider-Man 2 but make the mech suit have old military armor and tech. Same thing with Silvermane. Make astronaut John Jamison a classic werewolf story. Morbius too. A Noir Lizard would be perfect. Make Mysterio a scary wizard with real magic. Make tombstone a zombie. Make Kraven a serial killer
Hopefully they make this like Noor in the shattered dimensions game. He had awesome vulture and green goblin monsters to fight, and im hoping to see both of them and more
Im at 4:21 and this already sounds like garbage. Episodic? Nicholas Cage? BEN RILEY? Nick can’t act to save himself from death, no one wants an episodic format because it proves time and again that people always end up feeling like there was more to be had, and Ben Riley doesn’t even make sense as he is a whole different character and Spiderman Noir is supposed to be a PETER PARKER VARIANT. Not THE peter parker. I hate these producers so much
OK look man I’m very confused, so is Spider-Man noir going to be ben Riley or Peter Parker or is Nicolas Cage going to play Ben Riley and someone else is going to play Spider-Man noir like I’m very confused he supposed to be a teenager like, is it going to do a Mandalorian thing where he doesn’t take off his mask or is he going to be older or they’re gonna do some CGI thing to make him look younger?
With Sony pushing a multiverse Spider-Man 4 you'd think they'd have to know that the audience would be able to tell the difference
