I don't think this will fix the attrition rate. PR residents will join and leave for the same reasons. They should be addressing the issues that are causing people to leave.
I don’t think there is any bad or good in hiring PRs, usually after PR and living 3 years in Canada, you can apply for Citizenship. This rule will expedite the process but I am sure even before this rule, if someone really wanted to go for CAF, they would just wait for citizenship but surely join after.
yeah i gotta wait for 6-18 months now which sucks cause i finished everything except the medical which i cant until i finished the security clearance even tho i am a citizen now but when i was applying i was still PR
I feel like 10 year old Permanent residents are either 30+ or only few exist as most become citizens by that time. So this rule doesn't make much difference.
@@Vishnuskumar1995 ya I guess you’re right. But either way there is no “PR for 10 years” rule as of now. If there is can you send me a link? Cause I think this rule is only for RCMP
You gotta be a resident of Canada for more than 10 years. Which it is still the same thing as being a Canadien Citizen in which you have to wait 4 to 5 years to apply and get the citizenship.
That's not true. I'm joining as a PR and I'm under 10 years. The RCMP had a 7 year stipulation but I think they got rid of that even due to recruitment issues
What frightens me the most is the Aptitude test... I am a welder, Nigerian(difficulty in getting security clearance as Nigeria is slow in these processes) ... do you think my skill is in Demand in the CFAT?? P.s : I am also a university graduate, Bsc. Environmental science (from a Nigerian university)
As long as your degree has been evaluated by IQAS or WES Canada and it is equivalent to a Canadian first degree, then it will be accepted depending on the trades you pick. You can prepare/study for CFAT if you go to the CAF website. I wish you the best!
Some tips for you: 1. for CFAT, you can borrow some books at library, such as public servant aptitude or CBSA and US aptitude test (ASVAB) for practice and better understanding of test structure. That would do, I got 97%. And remember, CFAT score is big chunk of competition, the selection board would pick whoever got higher score in that trade. Also, if you wanna remaster your trade later(OT, occupational transfer), they would review your CFAT score first whether you are eligible to that new trade. So get as high score as you can for your successful military career. 2. Security clearance: if born outside Canada, it takes normally min.6 mo to 2yrs (or longer, saw one guy in St.Jean, took him 8yrs.) So give yourself enough time, once you submit all paperwork with CFAT score, it's nothin but waiting game. Good luck for your journey, and leave comments if you need further info
Also one more; study each trade thoroughly(pros and cons in consideration of their salary and posting issues), you can change your trade later whereas it would be much beneficial of you starting new profession in CAF with the right trade. Leave comments if you need more info on certain trades, I am an Avionics tech (Reg force)
The reason why there is a shortage of personnel is because the Canadian Armed Forces are run very poorly. There are citizens despite that wish to join, but are left waiting for a year so they move on with their lives. Rather than fix the organization their solution is to lower the standard for joining. My question would be are Permanent Residents even loyal to Canada? What if we go to war against the country they came from. Will they even fight? Also it seems to be a security risk allowing foreigners into the Canadian Armed Forces. What if they are just there to commit espionage for their home countries?
Hey Abhishek, here you go! ruclips.net/p/PL-B9EvSltWoDHA1Qttu1QFl9CbO6zBC1O If you want more practice you can grab the CFAT online training system at www.army-test.com/Kyra as well!
