    Over night your videos helped me TREMENDOUSLY! I watched all of your tenor videos and spent the whole next day doing the exercises and finding my comfort zone, literally over night I’ve stopped straining and can hit high notes I only dreamed of with ease, so bravo!! Can’t thank you enough, can’t wait to show off to the band!

      Jeff Rolka, would you ever make a video on vocal fry? And how to apply it to a note? For singing like guns and roses and other bands that have compression on their vocals... or for my case learning how to scream. I can make the fry noise on command but applying it to a note I struggle.. thank you for the amazing videos!

    Beautiful exercises! Helps to loosen my voice up! Thanks for this!

    The first exercise with steady sustained note is really useful. I record my self and monitor my pitch through phone app and it reveals my week spots. Well I'm a classical bass and my working range is typically e2-c4, but I have quite low primo passaggio at f3. My soft bass'y vibrato straightens a bit and sound gets too heavy on higher notes. If i drop an octave then my prima sound comes back. I have focused on first minutes of the exercise to find a cure for the zona di passaggio. It is my development area at the moment.
    Thanks again Jeff making these videos. It really helps. And for all the others there, if you are Jeff heavy users like I am, consider to become a patreon so he can make more these vids. Few dollars is nothing when you have a voice coach 247 on the youtube.

    I really loved this one, did you make a baritone range one for these exercises, Jeff? Couldn't find it in the channel

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  2 года назад +1

      Not for this one. The 'All Voices' on the thumbnail is too small. Do I not play it in various octaves? Let me know what your experience is like.
      Best,
      Jeff

    Another great singing warm up video by jeff. This one is cool. Holding the notes for longer and changing vowels is challenging, but rewarding.

    Hello thank your for your channel! What is your opinion on singing exercises vs singing songs? Which one is more useful when it comes to voice improvement? Thank you in advance!

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  5 лет назад +9

      Ultimately I think both are necessary. The exercises isolate specific vowels for evaluation and practice. Songs are putting that practice into context.
      I hope that helps!
      Jeff

    "You can start either here (D3) or here (D4). You can even start here (D5) but I wouldn't recommend it. " Me, starting from D2... ;-)
    Well usually I use D3 as starting point, but when I have something low to sing, D2 helps me with that. My problem nowadays is beginning of phrases, which this exercise makes so obvious - and specially higher. There is ever so slight hook from down to the pitch that I hate. I have to really pay attention on the beginning of the phrases to make it solid.
