Learning the riffs of your favorite artists is a cool way to understand their style and how they think about the music they're making. Practicing those riffs brings us closer to their music and also helps us understand the technical requirements of their songs. For this video I transcribed three riffs from three very popular (and very awesome!) vocaliststs:
Riff one is taken from Beyoncé's song Drunk in Love
Riffs two is taken from Sam Smith's Lay Me Down
Riffs three is taken from Queen's Somebody to Love
The specific harmonization and rhythm is adjusted in order to facilitate using them as vocalization practices. Enjoy!! - Развлечения
I can honestly say JEFF ROLKA has unburdened my friends and family from suffering what I thought was my singing!
I'm 36 and I've always wanted to sing. I'm practicing with you everyday! Thank you.
If I may say so, you've come to the right place. Don't take my word for it though, work through the videos, practicing a bit every day, and let me know how things go.
That being said, if you're new to singing or singing technique, this is a difficult video to start with. It's about more than just hitting the notes. I would suggest you begin here:

I love this one! I love riff exercises because they feel a little bit closer to singing in context!
I really love riffs! Not only the melody is beautiful but it does work on your vibratos.
Still an amazing excercise. I used to practice this every now and then. Thanks Jeff!
Jeff this video is SO good. I started to tear up. Love it. Thanks for all you do.
Without any further ado at 0:35 😉 Thanks Jeff! 🐯

Quick question. How much time before singing should you start warming up? Can I warm up 3/4 hours before singing? And then can I use different warmups just as exercises for the days I do not sing?
It really depends on your needs. For some, warming up that much in advance might work just fine. For me, it wouldn't be so good. Experiment a bit and see how it suits you.
Jeff
@@JeffRolka thanks for taking the time to answer Jeff!!
I have a question teacher Rolka. Are you familiar with the Flageolet or flute register? Do you have an exercise to tap in to this register?
Thank you so much for all these posted videos.
Yes, but those would be on soprano videos. I don't title them that way, though some of the extended range videos get to that area.
Best,
Jeff
@@JeffRolka I'll check them out, thank you.
Is this supposed to be done with one breath, Jeff? Thank you so much!
You might experiment with where you take your breaths - or - if you take them mid-phrase. Both practices could be helpful in real-world song implementation!
Jeff
very good exersises like this could be created by the man of the west only i mean the melodies in the base thank you
You're welcome! Thank you for your kind words and watching!
All the best!
Jeff

I'm a classically trained tenor, but I'm still looking for some techniques and I can say that my singing is not perfect yet. :) thank youuu
G# is when i pass over the passagio, or my voice changes.. Does this make me a baritone or a tenor, does anyone know?
Thanks for subscribing - it depends on several factors, not the least of which is how your voice is operating before that changeover. For more information about the general ranges of things though, you can find that out here:

@@JeffRolka Thank you so much Jeff! And for everything you do : )
