    Gotta love morgana sacrificing almost everything she has, putting her life on the line to protect demacia, and Kayle gives her a fucking side eye

    • @PentaKayle
      @PentaKayle 5 месяцев назад +823

      I don't think Kayle gave her a side eye that meant bad. Remember that shes stoic and rejected all emotions cuz she sees it as a weakness but I think in her eyes she is saying "now that's more like it, good work" kayle never once doubted Morgana's power and potential, she just sees her compassion as a form of weakness that holds Morgana down not knowing that it might be the opposite.

    • @Hawko1313
      @Hawko1313 5 месяцев назад +496

      Kayle trying to act all stoic when she’s probably very conflicted about the differences between her and Morgana at this point.
      But great foreshadowing for never being able to understand why her sister will be able to resonate with mortals and protect people better than kayle can.

      @@PentaKayle Do you even understand the lore of the twins? Kayle literally doesn't trust Morgana by this point due to her excessive want to help the helpless. This takes place after Morgana abandoned Kayle on the battlefield to help refugees over her sister. They have argued about how to use their powers since they manifested. The entire point of the dichotomy is to show Morgana has genuine concern for Kayle after they were tossed from the sky, and Kayle simply is disgusted by her weakness.

Almost all of the village is on fire, there are dozens of corpses on the ground, but only in the very end that Yasuo comes to help, when almost all is over. Something I found really cool is that lamb doesn't take much effort when trying to kill tryndamere, it's quite the opposite, she shoots a few arrows that tryndamere easily stops with no harm. That's really smart because lambs arrow is supposed to mercifully and quickly take down those that accept death, while wolf brutally hunts down those who try to avoid it, so it makes sense Lamb only watches and eventually offers tryndamere a peaceful death, but since tryndamere refuses to die he stops lambs arrow with no effort while he does struggle to fight against wolf.

    Another great detail about Tryndamere's last fight: there are 6 enemies coming towards him. In the fight with Wolf, he strikes 4 times as if he hit something. Some were blocks, but there were 4 full on attacks. Kindred seemed to stop when Ashe fired two arrows at the two remaining enemies, saving Tryndamere from death. No more danger remained at that moment, so Kindred stopped / faded away.

      @@syncopatedglory Don't quote me on this, but I remember Kindred has always shown this kind of physical/spiritual parallelism. One of their earliest stories is of them reaping the dying on a battlefield, where Wolf's bites and Lamb's arrows happen simultaneously with whatever blow kills them in reality, and the writing style frames the two actions as the same thing. Kindred don't appear to hunt your ghost down *after* you die, like what we see with the azakana that Yone challenged along the Path. Kindred are direct spiritual reflections of your death.

      @Theeater126 4 месяца назад +11

      @@syncopatedglory Though they are in many ways a representation fr your coming death, they are very much there. Just think of them as an overlay to the "real" world. When tryndamere uses his last death ability , he is able to see into the "overlay" that Kindred dwell. He is still fighting soldiers in the "real" world, but is really fighting Kindred. This is shown when you look at his pauldron. It is unblemished at the start of the fight, but after the fight with Kindred, it has the marks of Wolf, a bite of teeth. Now, you could say that one of the soldiers had a claw like weapon that actually left the mark, but I only saw swords and axes laying on the ground.

    It's actually cool how the kindred is portrayed in yasuo's scene. The wolf usually chases his prey if they run, which is what Yasuo did his whole life. It is also why we see wolf waiting for him to run again, but because Yasuo is now content with his end, Lamb instead shoots her arrow

      Do keep in mind in the Lore of Kindred, if you were bit by Wolf it was supposed to symbolise a slow and painful death, while if you was struck by Lambs arrow it was supposed to symbolise a swift and painless death, Yasuo if he was running from fate for so long, wolf was already prepared to take his life, but its interesting how its both the arrow and also the wolf.
      Keep in mind the fight of Tryndra, wolf is continuously attacking first for me just honestly means that due to his choices in life have lead to a painful death.
      Kindred is the entity of Death itself, iv even got a tattoo of it as I do just love the symbolic message it has.

  • @knowone3610

    Probably my favorite part has to be the stark contrast between old Yasuo accepting his death (so Lamb takes his life with a single arrow while Wolf lurks in the shadows) and Tryndamere refusing to die and takes on both Lamb and Wolf. Considering that even Lamb was even trying to take Trynd's life along with Wolf shows that there's a part of Trynd that wants to die peacefully, but his undying rage prevents him from doing so.
    This cinematic is just fanservice for Kindred fans.

      i dont think its hard for ppl to confuse kindred as the lamb, while wolf is just the companion. with how league and LoR always seems to portray lamb as the "leader" of the duo, i kinda cant rly blame ppl for thinking lamb is kindred, and that kindred is a she.

    It's also very interesting to notice the symbolisms into the Kindred's actions:
    -In Aatrox's "death", the only one who comes for him is the lamb, because he accepts it and actively wants to die, even though it does nothing and fades away, as Aatrox is immortal;
    -On Yasuo's scene, we first see the wolf together with the rain of arrows, indicating that he could still fight against his fate or, in other words, he could still block those arrows and keep on fighting, which is what he "always did" throughout his life, indicating that the Kindred expected him to fight once again. Yasuo himself, however, doesn't wanna keep on fighting anymore, as we could clearly notice from his expressions and hesitancy to use both sword and wind once again, and as he accepts it, he instead receives the arrow of the lamb;
    -And as Tryndamere fights the Kindred, we can notice that the lamb barely fights, as it's duty is for the ones who accept death, rather than fight against it. But there is one more catch: as the fight ends, the lamb was clearly charging one last shot, more focused on it than in the previous ones, which could indicate that he would have no choice but to accept death, as he could be reaching his "limit" on immortality (just like it happens in game, where it's restricted by a set duration), and it only gives up on the shot as Ashe saves him from two warriors who were about to stab him from behind; so what it seems to me is that if Ashe had not shown up at that moment and saved him from those two, he would've actually died. This also leaves us to theorize whether Ashe's appearance really "pulled him out" of the undying rage, or if he was actually just about to hit his limit regardless.
    Edit: One last detail that I forgot is that it would've been the third arrow in the fight, just like in Kindred's E, which could mean some sort of "confirmation" of his death. I do know that in-game the lamb would just direct the wolf in the last attack, rather than shooting another arrow, but here the circumstances are different, I don't think it takes away from the point, and it probably intentional as well.

      I think Kindred is quite a bit more profound than that, actually. Yes, you are absolutely right that everything about Kindred screams the concept of Yin and Yang. You have Lamb and Wolf; female and male, light and dark, culture and nature, poetic and instinctual, patient and impatient, detached and enraged.
      And yet, Kindred is a symbol of Death, and Lamb and Wolf both represent death. So rather than there actually being a distinction between Life and Death, perhaps we are being told that there is no such distinction or opposite - the only meaningful, real distinction is the attitude towards mortality: acceptance or refusal to accept.
      If you really want to go even further, that is actually what many truly great stories of our modern society is about. Star Wars gives us Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda, both accepting death, and the story is about the dichotomy of that versus fighting Death in fighting Darth Vader. Harry Potter makes it even more obvious; Dumbledore and Harry's mother both accepts death, whilst Voldemort destroys his soul in his battle against death. Even the biblical story of Jesus is maybe in some sense about Jesus' accepting to be killed.
      And Kindred represents exactly that essence, I think.

Without Ashes arrival, I believe Kindred would have stayed until Tryndamere himself killed enough enemy warriors to secure his own life, Ashe just hurried the process along.

      How balanced would it be from a game perspective to play as literal death¿ I doubt it would be at all lol. Kinda hard to make it feel like that in game but at the same time if you really think about it, you can feel that way when playing Kindred. When you mark someone they usually sit under their tower or run away. Kind of like death is coming for them and they know it. When Kindred shows up if they just run away you can easily kill them. This would be the Lamb's version of taking a soul. If they stay and fight Kindred's w summons Wolf and then you have the Wolf's version of taking a soul. The fact that you can mark people for death literally could give you that feeling of "Hey I am playing death and I am coming to kill you" which is what I think they were going for. If you do not feel that way I think it might be because you are thinking about Kindred lore wise which in this case would probably make anyone not feel like Kindred is actual death because you can die yourself in game AS Kindred lol. Some champs definitely give the feeling of lore accuracy but the more powerful they are lore wise, the harder it is to make that feeling in game imo. He can either accept death by staying where he is, or dodging kindred/a volley of arrows through a version of his in-game ult. I perceived the Trynd and kindred scene differently. Although he was fighting the soldiers in real time i believe kindred actually came for him and he didn't make it up in his head. kindred came to claim Trynd and was going to succeed. She only stopped because Ashe came and killed the two soldiers that would've killed Tryndamere. Ending the scenario in which he dies. so kindred no longer saw it necessary to attempt to claim him and left him be.

    There is one small detail that would have made Yasuo's death a lot more satisfying and that would be if Wolf had closed his eyes after Yasuo closed his symbolizing Wolf ending the chase. This would put more emphasis on the fact that Yasuo accepted his death because he knew if he had tried the wind wall he would have failed and faced Wolf, so Yasuo instead chooses to take the painless death over the vicious one and accepts the arrow from Lamb.

The way they faded away, Ashe joining the fight, and seeing the warriors right behind him who got shot by Ashe’s arrows. I started to wonder if what Tryndamir saw was Kindred, but who he was fighting was the warriors, any of their attacks being what would “kill” him. What I noticed as I’m a lore freak as well.
    -
    1. Kindred’s quote at the beginning is a nice way to compliment the Music Video & it’s title “Still here”
    2. Kayle’s wings seem to growing upwards while Morgana’s wings are growing downwards.
    Subtle referencing of how Kayle always feel high & might, looks up to their mother.
    While Morgana has the opposite view of what Kayle sees & feels.
    Another far-fetch is that referencing how Kayle is never on the ground & always looking down on others,
    While Morgana is always on the ground, able to judge everything equally
    Morgana choosing & embracing her magic, knowing they will lose that fight if she didn’t do so. And Kayle’s side glanced could also just be Kayle’s condescending attitude
    3. Yasuo being a ronin reminds me of Kenshin Himura, the wandering samurai who made an oath to “No more killing” after they have shed countless blood.
    In the moment of Arrow Rain, i’m pretty sure Yasuo see the image of Wolf at the trees, possibly knowing that “If he keeps on resisting death, it will be much more painful. And if he chooses to accept death, it will be fast & swift, but peaceful”
    4. Tryn’s on the verge of dying.
    I believe Kindred (Lamb & Wolf) did appear, not physically, but more of spiritually.
    Kindred only ever appears when a living being is on “Death’s door”, or another way to put it “moments/seconds/minutes before dying” you will see Kindred
    If you notice, Lamb barely attacked, and Wolf is the one that’s ferociously attacking Tryn. It’s cause Tryn is resisting trying to die, even before his iconic “Ultimate” kicks in.
    I think when Lamb shot a few arrows, it’s to “check” whether Tryn is accepting death or is still resisting.
    Tryn being able to break Lamb’s arrows tells me that Tryn is in a state of confusion & conflicted.
    Not knowing whether to accept death peacefully, or to keep trying & still fight for his life.
    Hence the lyrics “I’m Still Here”, it’s like Tryn argueing to Death itself, Kindred, that he is not dying just yet.
    Tryn almost hurting Lamb & Lamb vaulting backwards while giving the tilt of either confusion or curiosity to Tryn means they understand what’s going on.
    Lamb withdrawing her bow after fully drawing it, I believe it’s not because of Ashe coming to save him. It’s cause Tryn simply chooses not to die.
    Another note, the whole fight scene was dark & grey, colourless colours. The moment those two arrows that came from Ashe went past Lamb, there were colours & light.
    And it began to fill the environment with more light after.

      I like to think that, since it's hinted that this isn't Tryndamere's first encounter with Kindred, Kindred actually sort of "respects" his will to not die across their various encounters, and Lamb mimics the shots of the real people while Wolf teleports around to the positions of the enemy swordsmen, allowing Tryndamere to kill them in the real world while beating back death itself in the death realm, intentionally giving Trynd the opportunity to live.

    • @shrrine

      You know when they say it is his imagination, they don’t actually mean that hes just “imagining” it. It just means Kindred is present for him and him only. It would not make sense for everyone else to see them when it is only Trynd’s time to die. Their fight is very real and not just something he makes up in his head. Personally I believe that they take form in the things that are supposed to kill you in the physical realm, like in Yasuo’s case where Kindred’s arrow takes form as one of the arrows within the volley and Aatrox where Kindred materializes in the flames that kill him. Kindred is taking form in the warriors surrounding Tryndamere.

  • @adelaideharper9201
    @adelaideharper9201 5 месяцев назад +38

    I had a very different interpretation of Tryndamere. I think that when he went to his undying rage he confronted death - Kindred. She is symbolism as well as reality; you don't necessarily fight her physically. It was a metaphysical battle as he defied death mapped onto his battle with the warriors who should have killed him. Which is real seems blurred to me. They both are, I suspect. Ashe's arrival signaled the end of the conflict and so they vanished. He didn't imagine it, however; Wolf and Lamb came for him in the guise of those attacking warriors, and Tryndamere conquered death yet again. They are, after all, death itself. This might hint at the nature of undying rage.

    "Got my heel crushing the snake" - A biblical reference to Christ (the heel) crushing the snake (Satan - the Hebrew word for Satan meaning adversary). Satan being the catalyst that introduced death to all humans. As a result, death, being the adversary of all living things (depicted as Kindred), is being crushed or rejected but will catch up to everyone eventually.

    I got three points to mention:
    1. 7:20 I think that that's actually Morgana's ultimate. As someone else has already pointed out, it would explain why it required more concentration from her and why it seemed to pain her.
    2. While I agree that Tryndamere was probably imagining fighting Kindred, and he actually fought the other warriors around him, I also think that it's possible that he actually fought Kindred, while Ashe shot down the other warriors from a distance, and as he stopped hallucinating, Ashe just shot down the final two, and that's why there are no more enemies for them left on the scene.
    3. 28:36 You can actually see two people dead right behind Tryndamere. It might just be that we can't see the arrow in the other one because of the camera angle. (To follow up my previous point: it would also explain that if Ashe shot down the all six warriors, why we cannot see more arrows. It might just come down to camera angle.)

    I love the coloring of Tryndamere's arc:
    - in the opening shot, showing him in the real world, it is tinted yellow
    - when we get back to him the setting shifts to cold blue and shadows
    - finally following Ashes arrows, we see the light return as a wave as we transition back into the real world
    Absolutely breathtaking

    This cinematic is just breathtaking. Especially the CGI and art just did it for me. Add amazing lore and soundtrack and boom, I am hooked on it for like an hour straight.

    I love this cinematic, bu my fav part is probably with Tryndamere and how his undying rage is portrayed as literally fighting off death. Also, I love the animation of his face when he comes to his senses and realizes that it's Ashe who came for him. Chef's kiss.

    Kindred is unironically one of the best depictions of Death. Not just in media, but like in all cultures. It's wild that such a flushed out "god/spirit" came from a game company.

    One amazing things to point out is the reference on what part of Kindred is executing dead, for Yasuo since he accepted his fate was with the arrow, and on the contrary Tryndamere who refuse to died is the Wolf who is trying to take him down. and that is exactly how Kindred works :
    "Lamb’s bow offers a swift release from the mortal realm for those who accept their fate. Wolf hunts down those who run from their end, delivering violent finality within his crushing jaws."

    A cool detail that I haven't seen anyone talking is that Morgana is not only holding Aatrox, but also the whole army behind him (the purple light of her magic can be seen very briefly in the background)

    I believe that the Kindred vs. Trinda doesn't happens "in his mind", but in an "arena" created by the Kindred - its their W skill "Wolf's Frenzy" where you create a blueish area for the wolf to hunt in!

    Banger video, Necrit! As a person who doesn't normally keep up with LoL's lore, I always enjoy listening to you filling in the blanks for me! Thank you for your work!
    A very cool and subtle detail I noticed at 25:20 : I don't think it's 100% as you say that she simply "decides" it's not yet time. I believe she was ready to give Tryndamere his "death" (because remember it's going to be revealed that 2 enemies were right behind him, ready to strike him down) she was already pulling on the string but she lowers her bow just as Ashe's arrows fly into frame, symbolizing that Ashe saved Tryndamere's life, sort of. So was there a possibility for Tryndamere to die there? I think the chances were very high!

    Another detail I did notice if u look in the outskirts of the area surrounding Kindred and Tryndamere u can see a glowing lighted wall that kinda resemble the Lamb's ultimate when it's used.

    I've always loved Kindred, seeing them in a cinematic amazing. Though I do find it disappointing that Riot wouldn't commit to Yasou's death, it undercuts the weight of the scene by saying it's "possible" future events.

    That is one of the best cinematics riot released in years. Gotta love the unwordly unnerving vibe Kindred gives, as well as the small tilt she makes with her head when Trynda not only refuses to die, but also almost hits her with sword. 10/10 I forgive you last year cinematic

      Haven't seen too many people mention this but yeah 100% they nailed Lambs movements, calm and elegant yet unnerving and eerie at the same time. It's like they managed to translate how she moves from her voice alone. Haunting yet beautiful.

    i dont play LoL, thats not my kind of game.. but god dammit, the lore behind this game and the champions is just astonishing. My deep dive into this started with arcane, since then i watched all cinematics and lore videos and its just amazing, how talented these writers from Riot are. the details, the power, the emotions, the tragics.. I cant wait to see the MMO and getting to experience all of this live in a game
    Great work @Necrit, i appreciate the fact, that ur videos are easily to understand for a non-native english speaker like me (thats also the reason for my bad english, sorry for that)

      It hasn't always been great and there are still some characters with terrible lore, but sometimes they really do nail it.
