My dad was from Tennessee and move to Detroit in mid 1950's. As much as he love Detroit he never stop loving his country music. As kid myself in 1970's i remember thsese song and country singers that my dad cherish. My one sister was name after Tammy Wynette. I had the rare privilege to get to party with Hank Jr. one night at a bar in Newport, Ky., named "THE FUZZ CLUB". It was a Sunday night, and I was sitting there at the bar listening to the band, and in walked Hank Jr., there by himself to visit with the musicians in the club. We sat side by side at the bar, and he bought my drinks and we danced all night long. He was a perfect gentleman, and very down to earth. He didn't act like he thought he was anything special. He was delightful, and I will never forget the night I got to party with Hank Jr! Not too many people get to say that!

In '95 I saw Hank during his Hog Wild tour, played every instrument on stage that night. And I was fortunate enough to have seen Merle with Willie in Memphis. Just amazing how the music was simple but real and straight to the heart.

I am a recent country convert. Johnny Cash led me to the Highwaymen, which led me to Waylon. By the time I got through the first album I bought "The Essential Waylon Jennings" I was a FAN. I am right grateful for all the music he left behind, and sorry I never got to see him perform live.
