  • My friends, tonight we'll build the new 1/48 armor kit from Tamiya - the famous T-55. A kit that not only lends itself to some simple improvements but also countless interesting, often field-made modifications such as a rebar cage around the turret filled with sandbags and bricks acting as spaced armor!

    "I didn't want to go over the top with detailing on this model" - Adds custom made rebar, a cage from the rebar, hand made sandbags, 3D printed bricks, missing bolts, etc, etc, etc.

  • @aaronwhite1786
    @aaronwhite1786 3 года назад +6

    Hell yeah! Been waiting for this one! Also, I'm really jealous that the smaller scale one has those tracks and the to-scale guide for assembling the tracks. The 1/35 I'm working on had rubber tracks which are fine, but I grabbed some aftermarket ones from Miniart that click together, and I tried gluing them all together at once and bending them around the wheels without much luck.
    Now I'm going to try and go back and re-assemble them in smaller sections that I can then glue together.

    • @NightShiftScaleModels
      @NightShiftScaleModels  3 года назад +1

      Maybe you left the glue set for too long? 5-10 minutes is usually enough if you use quick setting cement, you can also try it by feel. If the track is flexible but it doesn't fall apart if you manipulate it, it's the best time to wrap it around the running gear.

    • @aaronwhite1786
      @aaronwhite1786 3 года назад

      @@NightShiftScaleModels Yeah, I think it was a combination of too much glue in parts, and too little in others. Turned it into a link of track that just broke apart in places, and wouldn't bend in others.
