That IS-2 from the picture at the beginning belonged to the Polish 4th Heavy Tank Regiment, and our local tank museum decided to give their own IS-2 this particular turret number (4241 with the last number barely visible). It's in running condition, and when they were still holding reenactements at the old museum square, they even hanged the milk churn on the turret.
This tank take a battle for Kolberg :) I 424 was go st like 15 km from my family home on north Poland. @zulus_small_scale_builder - there I have model in 1/48 scale, my first tank :D and story from this battel. Regards Pozdro
The evolution of this channel is crazy, I can remember when not that long ago Night Shift was afraid of adding stowage, now he's got a full blown diorama! Keep up the good work.
I just want you to know... -This hobby takes a lot of insight and that's really impressive -You can create something out of nothing, and that's what creative arts are all about, and I really respect that -You're a funny guy, and I could do with a good laugh -I extremely appreciate the Metro reference, one of my first Slavic games
That is mental. I couldnt believe he painted it black, it looked great. But then he started painting, holy moly that is enough work to make me tired for you watching
i used to build model kits as a kid and i thought i was pretty good. but you folks these days are on a whole nother level.. its way more sculpture than assembly props!
How funny and wholesome is the fact that 2 years ago Uncle Nightshift was just flirting with dioramas and now he is hooked. I await the video where there isn't a model, ONLY a setting. Dioramas are fun to do, and economical as well. While more expensive tools make the work easier you don't need the fancy stuff to produce a pretty good diorama, even if you only have some basic brushes, basic superglue from the supermarket, lots of plaster, the cheapest paints and TRASH!!! Plastic and metal trash can be a godsend! The father of a friend of mine is a veteran modeler, won contests and such. He once built a biplane model from scratch for the local airport; an exact replica of one of the biplanes based there. He used empty sour crème cups, cut them up, straightened them with steam and cut them to shape. He build the cockpit, the engine, everything out of plastic garbage and the cheaper, 2 component plasticine-like epoxy. Took him like a week or two. The airport has been rebuilt since but as far as I know it is still displayed there. Scratch-builds and dioramas are fun to do because there is NO END to your own autonomy. Takes a lot more effort, time, work, but you'll end up making your best works like this.
Wow, this bridge made of real branches and then the painting with different wood colors. Unbelievable, every week a highlight.Thank you Martin for letting us be part of it
Nice metro reference at 13:31 you have there! Model looks hella fine, I'm in love with the marks you've painted, the texture you've built on the model is awesome and the overall diorama being based on real footage is even nicer! Overall great job!
For anyone interested in real corduroy trench filling, we used bundles of logs tied into rounds and put on the backs of flatbed or tipper trucks. We did this because it was easier to roll them off the trucks into ditches without man-handling lots of individual logs. It also made them easier to move around with our rough-terrain fork-lifts. Once the top row was in place you only had to cut the top strings and spread them out level.
Driver: “Comrade, do you see the bridge?” Commander: “Yes…no more questions.” This looks pretty cool! I really like the overgrown brick wall, it adds a nice bit of warm color. Great job!
I just started smiling when I looked at the angle you had the gun. The IS-2 had notoriously bad gun depression and thus a rather slow rate of fire because the gun had to be returned to the default angle for loading. It was best in the role of bunkerbuster and not a tankdestroyer as intended from the beginning. The finnish tank museum in Parola has a few Soviet heavy armored vehicles from WW-2 and among them a ISU-152 built upon the chassi of the IS-2. Those beasts were huge.
This is already a work of art. It shows us a wonderful scene work. The textures and painting techniques have already reached a realm that can only be reached with a talent for painting. I envy your talent!
28:41 I use a lot of epoxy resin like this at work. Same 2:1 ratio of resin and hardener. Really easy to work with once you get the hang of it. One tip I can suggest is, if the edges of the water aren't nice and smooth, a combination of gel sealing tape and thin plastic sheet works very well. Just make sure that the outside edges of the barrier are tape-to-tape, and you'll have no leaks.
That solution was widely used in WW-2 and especially for traversing antitank trenches quickly. The british army had the Churchill fascine especially made to traverse AT trenches after D-day. It was carrying a huge roll of logs. It was one of the so called "Hobart´s funnies" tanks made for special purposes often on the Churchill tank chassis.
What a fantastic job! The IS2 cries out for rough texture. You have a true gift in your abilities. Thanks so much for making this historical scene come to life.
you've probably already selected your next model and starting building it with a diorama in mind, but i think you should build some sort of winter diorama next. you've made a lot of dioramas with a relatively similar colour palette of muted greens, browns, and grays, and it would probably be a refreshing change for both us viewers and you as the modeller. and based on the videos on your channel, you've never done a winter diorama so i think it might be a fun challenge for you as well. just a suggestion though.
I came for the models but I'm equally enamoured of your diorama building, especially the bricks and cobbles. I showed my best mate one of your dioramas. I think it was the Jagdpanther. Anyway, he's not a modeller, yet he said he was going to subscribe without any prompting from me. He likes what you do.
This is a great project, your realistic terrain and water is very cool. I like how you weather and show you vehicles dirty and well used. One this I like to add is battle damage, thanks will take small arms fire, glancing blows from allied tanks especially the heavy tanks. Great job
As for how often you post, listen to your patreon supporters. They are the ones that really keep you going. I might share the opinion of many in that I am not a hardcore modeler or anything, I just enjoy your content. Mostly I like when videos are posted at regular times because it kind of marks time during my complicated weeks. I was a skilled modeler when I was a teen and now that Friday afternoon vidoe of yours kind of reminds me of the end of the week. When you go every other week it breaks that cycle. I am just one person and don't count my opinion as being all that important, but it might be something to consider. Take care.
Greetings Nightshift, that diorama is on another level, it is nothing short perfection, you seem to out do yourself with each build, best regards from Australia.
AWESOME !!!! The tank itself was great, now adding in that bridge & landscaping, just makes it a MASTERPIECE ! If you ever want to make room in your studio for more dioramas, I'll happily display it at my house.....
It's always a pleasure to watch you create something so beautiful. You are a truly talented man. You are a real artist. Thank you for sharing your skills and ideas. It is most injoybul to watch a master at work. Thank you again.
Really cool result. And I think it's good that you point out safety rules. This is always underestimated in most videos. For newcomers to the hobby, it is often not so easy to find out that you have to protect yourself intensively, and it is not painting with watercolors.
Superb! You best work yet in my opinion. The tank alone is amazing but the, well conceived and well built, diorama just makes it even better. Well done.
I can't tell if your videos are encouraging me to jump back into modeling or if I just want to call it quits! LOL! I jest. Martin your work is spectacular and this 58 year old American is getting back into a hobby I put down 40 years ago! Thank you for showing me why I always love the hobby and the history that inspired it to begin with. Your work is not only stunning but the story your dioramas tell is captivating. I only hope to become a fraction as good as you are. Hey, a guy can dream. Bravo!
I'm trying to catch up with all your videos and this one must have been the one that tested your patience the most. On saying that, you did an excellent job with the tree bridge, so well done to you. I have enjoyed watching all the videos so far. It's good to learn from others. 👍👍👍
Always great to hear the “mah friends” at the start
An almost 40 min video from uncle nightshift? Worth the wait
I Agree 💯%
Model good
Definitely
I am a Japan person. I don't understand English, but I could tell that your work is very wonderful!!
The tank is fantastic enough, but the setting itself (especially the tree trunk bridge) is perfection!
A bridge made of tree trunks.I've seen such bridges.Smolensk region, 1942-43 year of construction.292 division of the Wehrmacht.
*This is just incredible. Absolutely beautiful.*

6:19 I love how saying "using real earth from my garden" almost sounds like a legit product and brand name.
It took me a while to realize that he was genuinely just talking about soil from his yard.
This is the 1st vid I saw from this guy like 2 or so years ago, I revisited now and boy do I still love it
Thanks for showing an alternative to punch&die tool, you make us minimum wage hobbyists happy :)
I winced when you sprayed the black primer on those very realistic looking logs!!!
13:26 Love the radioactive sound effect.
"comrade soldier, you are finished!"

amazing, absolutely incredible!
You know I don’t like this diorama… I freaking love it! Now all we need is a panzer of the lake diorama lol.
That one will be in the works very soon :)))
The man says he ruined the water, but I think its perfect. Amazing work my friend, you are inspirational
when modelling is not any more modelling but art ! what a master piece ! congratulations !
Another night shift video today's gonna be a good day
Moar longerer videos plz, this was fantastic. I hope more companies use your expertise on developing products!
Brilliant. Please feel free to do long videos more of Uncle Night Shift is always a good thing
Absolutely love the cork and your method of making realistic cracks, something new for me, thankyou!!
Klobouk dolů, to je veliká paráda. Radost se dívat a poslouchat.

Great detail, well done.
Yeah! New diorama by Night Shift! Awesome!
For me, your videos will never be too long,
I'm sure most of us would enjoy if they were longer.
same here.. 😊
I love those birch trees you added, they really make it pop. A lovely thing.
As I always tell you, I congratulate you for your work, but I thank you much more for explaining it and showing it
When watching Night Shift's diorama making is more interesting than a TV series...🤪
Thank you Uncle Night Shift. Keep entertaining us. Kindly do a modern tank next time.
I've very quickly become totally addicted to your uploads
Thanks 👍
Driver: “Comrade, do you see the bridge?”
Commander: “Yes…no more questions.”
This looks pretty cool! I really like the overgrown brick wall, it adds a nice bit of warm color. Great job!
Wouldn't be Friday without a video from Uncle! Sweet build, brother!
Stunning result - so much detail in every section!
This is Fabulous! Especially that water! You remind me of Shep Paine! The American oldies here will know who I mean!!!

I instantly knew that that’s was going to be of that photo. And it’s a beauty!
This is already a work of art. It shows us a wonderful scene work. The textures and painting techniques have already reached a realm that can only be reached with a talent for painting. I envy your talent!
I was not expecting the Metro gag. Made me giggle. Great work as always!
I love the way you say "Corduroy Bridge" and this is actually my first time hearing that term, though it totally makes sense.
28:41 I use a lot of epoxy resin like this at work. Same 2:1 ratio of resin and hardener. Really easy to work with once you get the hang of it. The thin plastic sheet goes in-between the tape and the resin?
Mate that’s awesome! Very cool. I’ve put so many branches in my green bin recently - I feel ashamed of myself! Save everything!!!
This always puts my model tanks into perspective when you see a masterpiece like this
I like your little "chapter" breaks (bricks, bridge, concrete..etc). Nicely breaks a long process and video into organized chunks.
Always happy to see "real earth from my garden"
ma‘friends. the best intro for me. You are a god.
Great diorama - creative and beautifully staged. Thanks, uncle.
The choice of an oval base for this scene is just perfect!
As always - excellent! But I think that you could pay more attention for bridge, because logs will get more damage with moving tanks.
WOW! Your rivet making method is just so effective - like all of your methods... just WOW!
What a fantastic job! The IS2 cries out for rough texture. You have a true gift in your abilities. Thanks so much for making this historical scene come to life.
That black veneer is so eye catching ;) incredible work!

Instant classic! Clearly one of the coolest dioramas ever! Totally love it!
Dude - you are super-talented and the river is fine. Don't go OCD.
This is just incredible! I can only imagine the huge amount of work this masterpiece required 😳💪
Great job as always! 👏🔥
That is amazing. It actually looks like a photograph. Love all of your videos.
Simply an amazing work of art. I salute you Sir. I am now binge watching all your videos. Thank you.
First video I've watched on this channel. Safe to say, I'm invested
You know its going to be a damn good Nightshift video when its more time in the making and its 25min plus duration
This painting is the best. Ever.
I like the new Video Style
And the Diorama is also very great
Absolutely top notch build from start to finish! 👏👏👏👏👏
This is a great project, your realistic terrain and water is very cool. I like how you weather and show you vehicles dirty and well used. One this I like to add is battle damage, thanks will take small arms fire, glancing blows from allied tanks especially the heavy tanks. Great job
Awesome !! That's all I can say, . . . . AWESOME !! Your best diorama yet in my humble opinion 👍
I like your videos, not only because you're a great artist, but also that you sound like Boris Badenov.
Excellent, looks so real. You are good and I look forward to seeing others. Take care my friend.
Thanks for Share your experience. Absolutely great diorama , I watch movie four times already🤪🤪👏👏

Another brilliant dio, Uncle...........
Wieder einmal ein starkes Diorama. Die Videogestaltung ist neu aber auch sehr gut. Macht immer Spaß da zu zu sehen
Really nicely done. The trick with the road wheels and track is excellent and looks proper. Looking forward to your next one.

The black primer worked very well especially on the rusty bridge parts. Great work!
You have an amazing talent, Martin!! I salute you my friend.😉👍🏻
This is awesome!!!well done!
Impressive! Very impressive! Such a meticulous attention to details!
Metro reference made my day. Thank you uncle night shift.
Really cool result. And I think it's good that you point out safety rules. This is always underestimated in most videos. For newcomers to the hobby, it is often not so easy to find out that you have to protect yourself intensively, and it is not painting with watercolors.
This is probably my 10th time watching this, and I have to say, this is hands down my favorite diorama, I’ve ever seen…ever.
Longer videos are ok!
Amazing work as always!
Thank you 😊
Absolutely fantastic brilliant workmanship.
Stunning work! Very well done Sir! Greetings from Southport, UK.

Always a pleasure to see a new video of your work. Always inspiring.
A big thank-you
Greetings from Belgium
So happy to see you posted and with a nearly 40 minute long video it makes it ten times better!
