When my band director put the recording up of this song the whole class was so exited! Now whenever we get it out we all are so ready and exited to play
I played this in 7th grade at a regional band congregation in my county, revisiting as a freshman in college is so much fun. As a trumpet player, I lived for that melody!
We are gonna play this for our spring concert! I’m super excited because after we preform in front of parents we then preform in front of judges a couple days later and go to six flags after! Our school won last year so we can hopefully expect the same.
In middle school, I was assigned lead Aux for most songs. While we never played this to a crowed, easily my favorite memory from band then was when we had a sub and a student took the lead and we managed to get through this song with minimal errors. Thank you for posting this so I can relive those memories even after I quite band in my 12th grade year.
I remember distinctly playing this during my band exam in high school and the person watching us perform this was so impressed by my rhythm that he said, "you keep her around. She has good rhythm". And my band director being so proud of me and by the end of this song I was so proud of myself. I was playing the bongos for this song
Showstopper to play at our local theatre for the performing arts, being in 7th grade. The constant round song parts of this piece with all of the instruments playing together overlapping each other is on a whole new level. This will never stop being an absolute masterpiece. A wave of nostalgia. Thank you Brian Balmages.
Wow. What a nostalgic song. I’m leaving my current school and percussion, and this was the last song we learned together. All the memories flood back when I listen to the last song I played and learned with them. 😊
We just played this song for our region concert, it was really fun! I play tuba and counting the rests was a little hard but I really enjoyed playing it. I think my favorite part is the clapping.
I remember playing this in 2013 in middle school, definitely one of the more memorable pieces! I enjoyed every bit of it, was really fun and interactive
I’m playing this song for district band on oboe tomorrow and I’ve been playing the oboe for 4 years and this is easily the best song I’ve ever played. Its so fun!!
In middle school and we have to play this at a comp in a few months this is definitely one of my new fav songs to play and I enjoy the memories we’re making in class with this piece💕😋
we're playing this for our spring concert this year, and I love it! I'm a tuba, so my part's not that interesting (as always) but I still love this piece!!
as a tenor sax, im glad to have one of the easiest parts lol. Im playing this for a middle school honor band and im hella excited. I also had the piece blue ridge reel at another concert and it was super fun
I’m in 8th grade last year in advanced band I was in 7 th with 8th graders and our band director is amazing we played this song just as good as the recording and made it into a state wide conference which we are going to soon and to make you believe we sound exactly like that recording we won a supreme award playing that song as well which was the best out of all the 50 middle schools that played.
In middle school (5 years ago) I played this at district honor band. I completely forgot about it, but I'm playing another song by the same composer and I remember playing this
The low brass part at 1:17 is actually 🔥🔥 it fits so well with the horns having the melody.

@@murdermaster8975 im a seventh grader and we played it for our second concert!
it was so fun
I played it in 8th grade…
As a baritone player, the last 30 measures are a certified fire moment
Edit: it's been 2 years. Let this comment die
As another baritone player, I agree
I’m euphonium and playing this
As a tenor sax player I can agree (basically the same part)
As a trombone player, the whole song sucks (46 measures of rest total and basically all whole notes and a lot of repeated notes)
I play the flute and I always struggled to hold back a smile when they started playing the end it was always so good 💀
We are gonna play this for our spring concert! I’m super excited because after we preform in front of parents we then preform in front of judges a couple days later and go to six flags after! Our school won last year so we can hopefully expect the same.
