- After arriving in Ipoh Perak and hearing it's reputation for having some of the best food in Malaysia, we had to head out try as much of the cuisine here as we could and find the best places to eat in Ipoh. Let's take you on a food tour across Ipoh Malaysia and try some of the best desserts they have to offer. We got to try the famous white coffee for the first time which is beloved across Malaysia and originated here in Ipoh. We also tried a variety of unique desserts, cakes and pastries that blew our mind. From the famous beancurd dessert, heong peah, kaya puff, egg tarts and more unusual and interesting street food snacks. We never tried anything like this before and these Malaysian desserts definitely left us speechless...

White coffee doesn't mean its white with milk. Its because of the way the coffee beans are roasted. There are 2 ways of roasting. One with sugar and margarine. The other is with just margarine. I think the 1st one is called white coffee. You can ask the locals. Good choice of bean curd with ginger sugar. Ginger is good, helps to settle your stomach. Ohh those puff buns are superb especially for tea or breakfast.
those feels that roast the coffee beans with margarine term the end result white coffee.
Guys...please do come to sarawak....there will be RAINFOREST WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL coming up in June...so do fly to kuching sarawak and experience Sarawak first hand...
agree. it would be diff experience in sarawak
Tau Foo Fa - beancurd (soy-bean curd) : soothing food for the bowels. I love it with palm sugar syrup. I think the rice ball content might be black or red bean paste? (not sure).
black sesame paste
Bro that kaya puff is the reason why I drive 3 hrs to ipoh for, so good
White Coffee is coffee roasted half of the way through and to a lower temperature. By roasting it to this much lower temperature, you get a whitish colored bean that is higher in caffeine because you roast out less caffeine. This results in a very nutty and sweet taste profile much different from traditional coffee.
All of those desserts look so tasty! We need to give Ipoh a visit some time soon!
FYI if you're a foreigner and a Malaysian tells you that the food from X city is the best, it's only because that person is from there. All Malaysian food is the best!
Thank u for this wonderful video n for also showing your food exploratioms in Ipoh.
The Tau Foo Fa (soy milk pudding) is actually chinese dessert. You can find them in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. In Malaysia we only have sweet version, I think in other country they have savoury version which I never had before.
The kaya puff is the best! Love it!
My 2 favourite travellers! Enjoy Ipoh, but in my humble opinion, KL still has the best mix of foods 😅
Malaysian coffee is the best.. ,>> well balanced.. fresh and authentic.. it's originally from fresh roasted coffee beans blended with a little of butter or margarine.. Always remember Malaysian "KopiTiam" aka coffee shop.. 👍😊
kopi tiam, kopi is coffee in Malay, whereas "tiam" is the meaning of "shop", a Chinese dialect (hokkien). A mixture of 2 languages.
Kind of ashamed. Ipoh is my home town and I don't even know where to get good food anymore.😅. You guys are awesome.
The kaya puff fillings you can make it your own. Is made from egg yolks + coconut milk + sugar, cook in slow heat and continuously stirring until it thickens. You can make them for your bun fillings too or spread on toasted plain white bread with butter.
Happy eating and enjoy the food guys. Get ready to add 2kgs to your weighing scale soon... Hahaha
Have fun and I enjoy your travel video
Thank you 😋
Wow, welcome to my hometown. Usually foreigners won't come to Ipoh lol.
Malaysia terbaik ❤️👍🇲🇾
that bean curd, if u pack back, put it into fridge and chill, it will be awesome
The filling in the glutinous rice ball is sesame seeds. The very bean curd is very very soft tofu, (bean curd)
White coffee in every coffee shop is different ,you should try more original coffee like Kedai Makanan Nam Heong or it opposite restaurant
The black-seed core inside glutinous flour in your the tofu custard (wth ginger syrup) is actually black sesame.
It would help if you ask the vendor what are you eating. Or, maybe do a bit of research first guys. And, yes that's really a bit too much of 'desserts' at a short span. Hats off you guys for managing all that sugar high that you both did. 👍🏻😅
Hi guys,, enjoy your travel in Malaysia 🙏
Good job guys...50k subscribers
just so you know there are 2 types of egg tarts one is the original egg tart which is pure yellow in the middle (without any brownish burnt look) and the second one is the one you ate which is a portuguese egg tart (with brownish burnt look) but most locals called it "po tart" which translates to portuguese tart and that white round thing is not a seed its actually a "mochi" but stuffed with red bean paste and those other white things yes they are actually made it to look like tofu but its called "tofu fa"
Thanks for coming from afar,
And tried our tau foo far.

Nice vlog..
Two wild nomads let loose in KL. Sounds like fun!
the taufu fah taste better with dark sugar syrup
Go try the famous curry dry noodles in ipoh , yee fatt
I guess the green stuff is made using lotus paste. Salted egg is quite pricey so the quantity maybe too small too notice. The chicken part is made using chicken floss which is quite light on the taste as compared to chicken filling in siew bao. D*mn nice blue plate though.
The ball in the bean curd is called tong yuen. Its quite similar to mochi ball, but eaten in sweet soup. The black stuff is black sesame. It can sometimes be filled with crunchy peanuts or red bean. Its not meant to be spreaded in the beancurd, which kinda makes it disgusting. Tong yuen is best taken without the beancurd and just plain ginger soup, which is the traditional way to eat it in winter solstice festival.
wow 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍👍👍 enjoy guysss

Ipoh ❤
White coffee is very good?
its ok, 90% of the westerner i know cannot take the slippery, airy texture and the tasteless of the soft tofu.
You should google how chicken floos are made. You'd be surprise that it's made from real chicken - i was surprised as well. Lol
It's more tofu than jelly...
You're hesitant even to take a bite how could you give a good reaction?
probably chicken floss
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
👍👍
You guys really need to do your research. Start with No. 1, that tart is Portuguese, 2. The ball buns are Chinese, 3. The soft toufu is Chinese too, 4. The pia is also Chinese.... You were basically trying foreing food sold in Malaysia....
❤
I think the white coffee that your stomach upset
Well, watching how the fat melted away day after day was very surprising, I just did what I was talking about and within the first 14 days or so I was visibly defined, I just go'ogled Baker Henistole and after 30 days I actually developed strong pecs for the first time in my life lol!
brooo, this time too much mindblow for u. sugar level evenmore? then u had 2 boxes of biscuits. xD
What do you expect from desserts🙄? Everywhere in the world desserts are sweet.
👍👍👍
Is you in Ipoh at the mo?
Not anymore...
@@TravelsonToast phew that's better!!! the curiousity was killing me! 😂😂😂
✌️😎✌️❤️🇲🇾
Why is she always frowning when she tastes something?
🙂
I never seen anybody so scare of food than this girl on the video
Malaysian Food will make you loose your passport and have to stay longer
IPoh Mari tarak sombong
Again. If you order any coffee in malaysia, that shit should stain the outside cup & flow into the small plate. Haiyaaaaa.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💞💞💞 9:53
“I wasn’t expecting that”, in the first place if you go to a new place to try new food, you should have an open mind and should have no expectations.
The fact that you said “I wasn’t expecting that”, while frowning constantly just tells me your ability to review new foods is mediocre, while doing 0 research. If you want to review food with this close minded mindset, you might as well review your own local food.
Also, you said that most of the food was “too sweet”, but mind you, you said yourself that you are tasting desserts for the entire video, desserts are sweet, duhhhh, of course they have sugar.
U must be fun at parties
#HoWie Lim , well said.
Stop. It's not malaysian coffee if it doesn't stain the cup. So, unfortunately, you're sharing false info & you went to a bad spot for coffee. Ipoh is best known for dimsum & beansprout chicken, bec they're mostly cantonese. But the top tier of food in malaysia is hands down, PENANG. Even locals go there on the weekend just to eat. I hate youtubers not doing their research.
