- A 200 year old coin somebody dug up and dropped here when they were metal detecting is what it looks like to me. I was at this old deserted Ne England farm with my Fisher F19 testing out the new 5X8 coil and got a really good signal. It sounded like a coin but I didn't think anything of it and kicked the leaves aside as we usually do. When I swung back over it it had moved. I started picking through the top brush and there it was, a big old large copper that turned out to be an early 1800s Draped bust US large cent. But hat is not it ! the more I detected and dug around this place it was clear who had ever been here before did not know what they were doing because there were relics and other good finds in the old plugs. It was a great day metal detecting relic hunting at this old place.

NO WAY! 💥💥💥@13:15 WHY is that stainless stamped steel fork out there? Same thing happened to me working a colonial site. Snagged a large cent, a beautiful 18 inch ice harvesting axe head, some colonial cutlery, and then Zeep-Zeeped over a sweet high tone. It was a foil lined seafood takeout bag, containing a lobster cracker, a mini seafood stamped steel fork, and cracked lobster shells. It was 2 inches underground and I'm 45 minutes from the ocean. WTF?

Seems like a great coil! Really did the job picking relics out of the trash. Beautiful large cent! Just like the saying goes: Finders keepers, Losers weepers. Bet there was some colorful language when the person discovered that loss.
Wondering why all the chimney stacks are always in a pile,never standing like in other places.
That spoon bowl is possibly coin or 90% silver from the 1700s/1800s. If it's thin, and malleable/bendy, that's the giveaway. If it's plated, the copper usually shows through on the bottom of the bowl. The dents in the bowl are also a good clue. Good find!

Thank You Charlie for sharing. So what are your Thoughts on the new coil?. I have the white 5x10dd and 11"dd coils currently for my f19's. Just wondering what the pros and cons might be on this new coil.
At the 11:04-:08 mark the rock in the foreground appears to have a cross and date on it. The moss obscures whatever it is but it seems like there is something on it. Might be worth another look if you get back to the area. Do let us all know if you find something cool carved on it.

That was my Draped bust large cent sir !! I dropped it during the pandemic. New hunter during lockdown .Stopped their to smoke a bowl and most have dropped it ! Sorry for not filling in plugs , didn't read that in Metal Detecting For Idiots I bought .Is there anyway I can get it back 😉
