Man dont be so HARD on yourself, you are learning and we learn from our mistakes, Good job getting Kenny up and running.
So true brother.
I sailed in the US Merchant Marine as a Chief Engineer, let me tell you there in nothing wrong with little screw ups when you're learning. I would only get pissed when someone made the same mistake over and over. Great job so far, keep up the GREAT work! The best thing is when you're done, you will be able to say "I did This" with pride!!!!
So great to see Kenny on the road and sounding so great!! Thanks for not killing Kenny!! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for him next!
Hey Mike. You did a good job. The ticking from the engine is gone . You have a nice garage and many trucks. I like all you video's. Keep on going. You are doing great. Make more video's. Good wishes
Thank you 🙏🏼
Well done,I’m pleased you got the top end set ,on the oil pressure, it should run about 40 psi hot at about 1300 rpm ,idle around 20 psi, the pressure relief valve can ,and do leak sometimes, but if you remove the sump again, check the mains ,bigends shells, you are correct,Cummins are a bloody good engine the go very well ,and most of the problems are down to not keeping the valves and injectors set,it does sound good, and some ones been fiddling where they shouldn’t have been,on the fuel/air screw on the pump, but great video, very well done, ps remember do not start a Cummins with checking the lash, get very expensive very quick.
Even though you're Peterbilt Mike, I gotta say Kenny is your coolest truck simply because of that massive Aerodyne cab. It's honestly a symbol of Americana. Great to se Kenny go again.
Kenny will look awesome stretched & he's running great. Just had our first snow & named storm of the season here in Belfast Ireland. 🇮🇪🇨🇦
It´s hard to believe it´s the same truck that had a small tree growing through it. It´s a good looking colour matched fleet you got these days. Cheers from Sweden (we ain´t got no snow yet..)
That's awesome! Great job Mike, you didn't kill Kenny...you can be proud to hear him run so well after having him in so many pieces...
Hi Mike I'm in Australia and love watching your journey with the trucks well done mate
That engine sounds so good now and with the jake brake, it`s going to be amazing. Have a great day Mike. Greeting from Norway
An easy way to remember15 degrees is to go halfway to the 1 o'clock position from 12 o'clock position... Kenny sounded damn near perfect after you started him backup the clatter you heard was normal upper drivetrain chatter... Good work Mike
That lil chuckle after saying kennys got more kahoonies......how dare you 🤣🤣🤣
Sounds so much better. Good work.
Good job Mike 👍 Don't worry about missing things, we all do it. I've done it so many times, now when I do a job, I check behind myself over and over and over again before I try something. Sometimes I still miss something after all that.
Kenny sounds brilliant now. Great work Mike. We all learn by our mistakes. Hope we can see more of Kenny driving around soon.
Heck yeah!!
@@mikethetrucknut please don't put super singles on Kenny!!!
Put some duras on Kenny
and I can't wait for K2 !!!
Maybe after that you should do a Motormaster!!!
400 big cam idle oil pressure 14-18psi 550rpm and 40psi at 1800rpm.
Perfect 🙏🏼😀
Yes that is normal oil pressure for a big cam iv .dont worry about it.
Good work Mike, it’s so kool to see Kenny strutting his stuff . Now I’m waiting for you to get new trans. In stubby and go for a rip. For oil pressure increase remove plunger & spring from oil pump & replace with new if you can still get them. Also shim the plunger spring to make spring tighter, and you will have very good oil pressure. As always keep up the good work Mike I’ll be watching, Thanks.
Kenny sounds much better. Nice to see it running down the road.
Great job 👍 Peterbilt Mike
Sounds good the air horn was a nice touch 👍
that pressure is fine all good there
Hey Mike, get a hold of Gentry and son's trucking here on RUclips. He gets a lot of truck parts from a salvage yard there in Tennessee.
The part yard name I s John story and they ha a website
How exciting for you and us to see you learn as and teach. Good 4 Kenny.
Mike the beauty of fixing engine is hittnig and missing and at the end get it to run,Wow!! what a feeling to acheive success😃😃😃,
Great job Mike. With reading the comments the answers I'd believe. So looks like your in good hands. Looking forward to the winter videos. Yep Cummins too.
HI Mike, enjoy your channel, love Peterbilt cabovers and Kenworth Aerodyne cabovers (100's).
This is a great hobby to have.
Dont be hard Mike KENNY has got his GRUNT back all down to you 😄👍
As for low n slow has done you proud in driving all the way home from collecting it, and then made the round trip for K2 + plus bits n bobs. So reckon S&L deserves a nice warm tucked up winter, cheers from Yorkshire england.
Hi Mike, great job getting Kenny up and driving, he rolls coal like nobody’s business. If you can get that rear clip for a good price get it, you’ll be happy in the long run. Looking forward to seeing all the trucks getting fixed up! 👍
Greetings from the UK Mike! Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy all your videos. You got some fantastic cabovers. Thanks for uploading
That's Mike awesome video again love seeing kenny running again dont be to hard on your self your still learning Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
Hey Mike there is a tag on the fuel pump that has the CPL and the fuel cal. Part no and one other. If you have the proper cpl it will help you in the future. I think the engine was called a PJ 450, J was for jakes. The proper cpl will give a reference for the valve set procedure. Can’t run the engine without jakes, you will have oil squirting out of the rocket housing. We used to put cotter pins in them. Still need to set jakes.
Good boy this old Kent 🤗👍
Good deal Mike ole Kenny sounds good
Nice work Mike. I had a 1990 379 with an 18 speed, 444xt Cummins and double lockers. 444 is a pretty strong engine. Love your plans and look forward to seeing how things come along.
Kenny is so cool mate. I'm happy he is running so well. Great effort.
Oooohh doesn't Kenny sound nice 👌👌liked the oil fountains with the jake heads off😂
Keep going with the good work and fix those few bits on Kenny and you can have lots of fun in the show!
To say your not a trained mechanic, your not doing a bad job Mike 👍 well done and a great video as usual 😄
Hey Mike, great video as usual. Western Truck & Tractor repair (Warren) here on YT had a 3406B for sale, 500k with a brand new clutch! Don't remember the price
Sounds so awesome!!
Well Kenny is very happy ole rig sounds great burning 🔥 coal like he should don’t be hard on yourself just to hear u say maybe a Cummins for k2 great stuff Mike
Well done mike love your channel keep up the good work getting them trucks running
Sounds great. Nice job!
Super Mike, your the Man!!
Kenny sounds great. Glad you going drive it to work...why wait for Little Deck...I missed the upload of you checking the brakes...which one was that?...no snow in Az. 70° F. 🌡️🌞🌵let her rip, tatter chip
Kenny sounds much better and coming along nicely Mike.
Be proud of yourself, Mike. You've done some badass work to Kenny (your dad included!).
It was about to become a mummy and you've brought him back!
Good going Mike, well done 👍
Greetings from Scotland Mike best vid by far so far mate. You made mistakes, who doesn’t, the key is you learn from them. Can’t wait for the next vid, beats all the Christmas tv 😁
You’re an inspiration and I’d love to buy you a beer one day 🍻
Kenny sounds like a big cam should good job Mike !!
Nice job beautiful running truck
Happy holidays everybody thank you for the video mike 🙌👍👍
Happy you got running so much better, now to get everything else up to par, nice job Mike.
Good job, best way to learn is to make a few mistakes, as long as you didn't do any damage it's not a problem. You now need to fit a fifth wheel, hitch up to a loaded trailer and give Kenny a real test:-)
Good job Mike! Your Kenny sounds glorious!
Thanks, I can't wait to get him on the hyw
Love Kenny, I think the OEM front bumpers are the best, he would look great with an OEM bumper.
Yeah not a fan of the rectangle box
It's all good my friend seems to me you did pretty good. Keep on truckin!
Love cab overs piece of history in the making especially Cummins Diesel engines love can't wait to see more videos
Lookin good Mike, thats normal oil pressure for that motor. All you need is 10 to 15 lbs. for every thousand rpm, its all good buddy!!
You would be a riot to sit down and have a cup of coffee with.😁😆😆😁
So Great to see Kenny back Rollin Coal…. Awsum Work Mike 🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼🤠🤘🏼
I’m sure if ya had a CB in Kenny, those other Drivers were tryin to give ya a Shout Out
I've been a diesel tech for 16 years now and I still make mistakes. Mostly make the dumbest mistakes on my own truck because I get in a hurry and don't take my time. You would think it's my first day any time I open the hood on my 6.7 ram 🤦♂️ So don't beat yourself up too bad! You are doing pretty good for a salesman! 😂 I think 15 to 20 psi at idle on those big cummins is well within spec. Pretty sure they say anything above 10 psi at hot idle is good, but I don't work on the big stuff.
Another good long episode... the snow looks so nice ....
Your getting there! Your learning as you go, the best way!
Fair play man👍good work 👌
glad you got Kenny fixed. amazing to think that a stretched 389 can be twice as long from the factory as Kenny. good luck finding a good clip for Kenny. It will be awesome
Mike, get kenny on the road..you do great at beign a master at fixing those trucks, i can help even though i dont know about truck as you, keep on trucking and learning and fixing.
@peterbelt mike I love your videos sir keep up the great work I love the cummins engine on my moms side of my family my great times uncle is the one who created the cummins engine
3 things ---
1. Congrats on getting it back on the road, you should be proud....
2. Thanks for answering the wheelbase question i asked, i thought kenny looked shorter, i think stubby looks shorter because the deck on it. Maybe we should call him Stubby Kenny,,,,he’s so short.
3. Damn you Canadians haul ass in the snow !!!!!!! 👻
👍😉. Thanks video Mike.
Mike you should be proud of yourself the video was awesome and Kenny sounds amazing. From listening to the early video of him . As someone said we all learn
. Regards to Jim
George Whelan from the UK 🇬🇧
Damn does Kenny run smooth now. Like a kitten at the milk pail lol
ongratulations .... kenny sounds great ...... and you had a great time with him on the road ... !!!!
Kenny is alive ... !!
I encourage the pressure may be from the sensor that is wrong ...
Around 2003 or 2004 Cummins almost went broke. They would only warranty their engines for a short period for nearly a year. Ford bought shares in them for a spell that pulled them out.
We all make mistakes , it’s how we rectify them and learn from them , we’re only human . Nice job now it’s running well
It sounds good Mike good job
Yee haaa! Great job mike . Kenny sounds fantastic now ! A little bit Tlc goes a long way . It has not really took you long considering how rough the old girl was on the first vid sitting neglected . AB FAB ! Cant wait to see K2 get a re-birth too . All the best .
Low oil pressure definitely a Cummins thing operating temp at idle 15 is good 1500-1800 38 to 40ish is psi is also good electronic like n14 and m11 don’t go into safety shut down till 7 or 8 psi so you are well in the safety zone let Kenny roll !!!
Brilliant , my favourite American truck, I was daft on bj and the bear when I was young
Sounds lots better! We had an old Ford dump truck with a 350 cumapart , ran for years with oil pressure so low at idle the buzzer wouldn’t go off! At speed it wouldn’t make no more than about 22 pounds. Had a shiny 290 was the same way. Currently driving a 2020 Farmall with an X15. Noisy as can be!
Hi Mike,
YES!
I start to watch your Video, and now the engine runs Like to be. Starts at all cylinders directly, not like last time, and without noice, only a littebit to much smoke by start, but the engine ist mit new.
Lets see, when te engine ist hot.
Nice, i am Happy for you!
Kenny Rides again Mike, You Didn't kill Kenny yeah
Kenny sounds glorious, he's purring like a kitten. I would deffo stick with Cummins in K2 Mike, you cant beat that distinctive sound that they have.
We have 3 t800 kenworth's and ours idle at 20 but they go up to 60 on full throttle
Sounds alot better 👌
Excellent progress Mike 😁👍
An alarm in the shop! No one wants to still those ole cab overs, or the tool box way back in the woods 🤣🙃😂!
Keep up the good work now
Kenny sounds pretty damn good now!
My dad had a 1979 cabover Ken worth like the one you have and it had a vt 903 Cummins v8
Congratulations on getting Kenny going again. Finally???! LOL 🙂Happy Thanksgiving from Texas!
Sounds good, not clacking or ticking noise.
@34:33 mate that was some oil fountain stuff going on there. Nowt wrong with the oil pump!
And so you made a mistake. More importantly you knew you had, owned up and went and fixed it. Job done.
I love cabovers im glad you didn’t kill Kenny
Might check the piston oil squirters, not sure how that one is set up but on the older Cummins they were plastic and had a tendency to break, but a Cummins does run a low pressure high volume oil system
Oh boy a 444, I worked on a few of those. Good engine if the driver took care or them. About your tick, I'm thinking the overhead is not set correctly.
I see STC on a Cummins, is that on the 440? STC is a whole different animal. If you look closely on the top of the injector, there should be 4 small holes. You have to lift up on that part with the holes and then set your injector to 5-6 inch lbs while holding the inj up. A 90 deg pick will work to put in the holes and lift up. Also your STC oil block on the fuel pump side of your engine is not working. If working correctly the engine will smoke upon start up and then when it has oil pressure it will change the timing to take out the smoke.
good videos mike always good kw can not go wrong ......
It's always hard to get that last little bit of odd throb out of a Cummins. Doing the overhead with a dial indicator can often get them to that last little bit of glass smooth idle. Makes a difference to some folks (like me), but it's time consuming and frustrating ...
She’s purring Mike!
We all forget things. I understand Peterbilt/Ford people forget things more often though lol.
Lol 😂
Awesome 👌.
