    i have the 14mm DBD and love it...I like the ''feel" of the 14 over the 16 and have used this size since I started playing...the 16s just felt too "soft" for me but onto the paddle...the spin is great, hands battles are good and "flickability" is great for those far outside shots where you need to snap the head around to send the ball back towards the net...other paddles just can't flick it like this paddle can do for me...great review

    I played with the Vatic Pro V7 and started looking for a softer paddle. I played with the 60 DBD for 4 weeks.. It's absolutely softer, a killer in the kitchen, easy to spin, and very good on spin volleys. I felt counters, speedups, and blocks were this paddle's weakness (doubles play). A very small sweet spot on blocks and volleys felt like a limp noddle. The longer handle and short paddle head give me an uncomfortable balance feel. Been playing with the Vatic Pro Prism... OMG, The non-thermo form paddle is so much softer in the kitchen but has the stability to handle blocks and volleys. Excellent spin.. 16.5" with a shorter 5.3" handle feels so well balance at 8.5 oz

      The Vatic PP had less power and spin. Sweet spots were same for me but I have excellent eye hand control. The 6Z did have a strange feel if a hard counter hits close to the handle. I prefer the 6Z Diamond over the Double and prefer both over the Vatic.

    Also agree video is accurate - I went from a standard size, Paddletek paddle to the DBD and really enjoyed the transition, and how fast it was despite being a new shape/feel. Lots of pop, great spin potential, decent sweetspot and I tinkered with lead tape in a few places before just keeping some at 4 and 8 o'clock positions for some stability and improved twist weight

    As usual another well thought and articulate review. I have to say that one of my favorite parts of your videos is the footage of you guys playing. Some very sick points/shots.
    I have been playing recently with the relatively new Maverix Havik 16. I am really enjoying it and it might just knock my B & B Filth into 2nd place. I would look forward to your opinions on it.
    Thanks again for the great content.

    video is pretty spot on. I also got the pink graphics which are really nice in a world of boring black CF. I'm an advanced intermediate playing with the DbD 16mm and Electrum E (taped up). I totally find the elongated shapes give more reach for those real close shots but the hybrid (especially for those with good mobility) is a compromise, being so light and overall balanced. For singles I prefer thinner than 16mms but the DbD's power on drives and control makes it a great singles paddle if you want to play a more balanced singles game without giving up too much power. For doubles its control really shines with 3rd shot drops. I personally didn't feel its putaway power or pop was high enough to my liking but a bit of lead tape on the lower sides brings out its full potential. As a paddle you can just 'pick up and play', it absolutely lives up to the hype.

    My Vatic Pro Flash is getting worn out and it's time to start looking for another paddle and this is obviously one of the top paddles out there. Should I shell out the extra cash for a DBD or is it similar enough to the Vatic Flash (which I loved) that I can save a little money?

    • @RacketsandRunnersPickleball
      @RacketsandRunnersPickleball  4 месяца назад +1

      It's similar enough to the Flash so stick with that one. It's always better to keep things consistent either way.

    You have to try them also while playing double. A lot of the footage (almost 99%) is about single. Not the same game and majority of people will play double instead of single. Just a quick remark. Keep on the good job!

    I currently play with a Joola Vision 14mm. I love it and I don’t like change much when it comes to my play style. I’m wondering what a step up paddle would look like. I don’t want to go down on spin, power, or control, but I want to step my paddle up in relation to the 14 mm Joola vision. Is there a such thing?

    • @nagaray120
      @nagaray120 10 месяцев назад

      I also have the vision 14mm and i love it! BUt I agree with you, it feels like there are better options out there. I thought a 1.5 gen paddle like the prism flash 14mm would be an improvement but what I gained in control, I lost in putaway power...

    I recently purchased the Vatic Pro Prism Flash 14mm and the Double Black Diamond 16mm. I'm trying to decide which to keep. What are your thought?
    The Vatic gives me better shots at the net, but not as good with baseline shots. Overall, I seem to be a bit more consistent with the Vatic.
    The DBD gives me better baseline shots, but my net game seem to be less strong and fly a bit more. Could this be due to me needing time to adapt to a thermoformed paddle?
    I've been playing for approx. 4 months. As I become more experience, do you think one of these paddles will offer a greater benefit over the other?
    Do you think a thermoformed Vatic would produce the same or better as the DBD?

    • @nagaray120
      @nagaray120 10 месяцев назад

      Did you decide which one to keep? I am in the same spot. I played a 4.0 mixed tournament with the flash prism 14mm and finished 4th. The paddle is fantastic, I've never hit better resets, but I was missing putaway power. I noticed that all the women in the top 3 teams had more powerful paddles, hence my conclusion that I need a paddle with a tad more power and spin potential. Would love to hear what paddle you decided to keep!

    "You'll never need more power" That seems like a bold claim. Why would 6-0 make Black Diamond (power) and DBD 14mm? Why do so many pros and advanced players play with much more powerful paddles like Power Air, Legacy, CRBN1x, Black Ace, Filth, Pro Drive Ghost, Pickleball Apes Energy, etc. ?

      The pro plays with whatever paddle the sponsoring manufacturer wants them to play with for marketing purposes. In double, I rarely see multiple drives or hard serves. It is all in the soft game and handspeed. But the rec players love power. So it is the pro players that advertise the paddle and the consumer goes gaga over it because the pro plays with it. @@kyebean
