    So lovely.. this reminds me of my late aji who loved dharia kitchdi, fresh bhaji and pudina chutney. She always made sure that when she cooked it, she served this within a few hours. I never saw or ate it again after she passed and never cooked it by myself. This will help and brings back a lot of fond memories of our elders.

      I hope you give it a try and it comes out like your aji used to make!

    Aunty, was this served with boomla (Bombay duck) in the old days?

    • @GaithreeDeviLuckan
      @GaithreeDeviLuckan  2 года назад +1

      Yes, we did some reading and dried fish was used to give meaty flavour to a chutney or curry that was made because generally meat was unaffordable to the early labourers

    • @thelibraryismyhappyplace1618
      @thelibraryismyhappyplace1618 2 года назад +1

      @@GaithreeDeviLuckan Thank you Aunty. You could keep dried fish without refrigeration, so it was accessible in the rural areas before they got electricity. My mum was from the city and used to having electricity, then she married my dad and he was from Natal South Coast and they didn't have electricity. Quite a learning experience for a young bride.
