I put a false bottom in my Anvil and just use a BIAB without the malt pipe. It’s given me a very significant efficiency increase.

Great video and idea for future videos. As for the bag inside the or outside the malt pipe...definitely outsite. The issue with inside is you will get channelling when sparging as the bag will prevent a true uniform filter bed within the malt pipe and sparge water will run between the bag and malt pipe wall leaving all that beautiful wort behind.

Hey great town hall of what’s going on or stuff just to laugh about. One of beers best properties is the enjoyment and interaction with others… Take advantage of that, good information for the newer folks coming in that are eager to learn something new… As always have a brew for me…🍻Cheers.

I've been wearing a baseball cap to work for the past 23 years. I say keep wearing it! Maybe you should change the After Dark name to "No jacket required" or something like that... make it suggesting that it's laid back... Casual Friday sort of thing.

  • @dindrin

Keep this going. I like the length - not too long...
By the way - the product page for the 4L Oxebar seems to have a typo in the description on the size - "Oxebar Mono is a lightweight keg" (presumably copied from the 8L one). Title is correct.

Thinking about converting my now unused freezer to a keezer. But maybe I should try that mini keg first. Seems like it would be easy to clean and it’s less bottling. What do you think?

I like the idea of the mead kit, but have you thought about doing one for just the ingredients? I do 1 gallon batches already, so I would only need the honey, yeast, nutrient, etc... Just a thought. I like the additional content. Also, just keep the name. It's good.

Can't seem to get my hands on a Pliny in North East Pa. Any recommendations? We did make a Pliny the Elder Clone from a kit. Lots of fun with a lot, lot, lot of hops. Amazing how smooth and flavorful it was without being overly bitter!

Okay, I'd love to see more videos using Kveik yeasts and pressure fermenting. I've always used temp control until recently. I decided to go back to using my all rounder with a hop bong. But I can't find a vessel suitable for my all rounder with the hop bong. So I'm going to use my freezer now for carbing up beers in kegs with CO2 and/or just using a picnic tap. I don't want to convert it to a keezer as I already have four taps. Thanks!

OK, here is a question somewhat related to the Pliny. I just kegged my attempt at a Younger. Massive double dry hopped. About 2 days after the second dry hops it seemed to start fermenting again and raised the alcohol by more than a percent. Is this from amylases in the hops making some of the starch into sugars? Is this the source of the dreaded hop creep?

    • @jasonnykamp6173

Tweaking other's recipes is definitely a good way to start. Read some books like Designing Great Beers, Brewing Classic Styles, etc. And then take that with the BJCP description of a style and build a grist that you hope fills the description. Brew, evaluate, adjust recipe, repeat. Also, compare to a commercial version you like (which admittedly can be difficult to find sometimes). I usually compare what I have built to recipes found in the books to see how close I am and make adjustments from that info as well.

I have a question. I have been trying to brew for the last 18 months but life gets in the way, I got 3 kids 7, 12 and 14. I just can't seem to get the time to brew and when I do have time, I am just so dang tired that I just not today. What are some tips you might have to help me cut down time and keep me motivated to get started and keep brewing it? Thanks in advance.
