As a massive Cryptopsy fan to me it is fairly obvious they decided to bring some classic cryptopsy (none so vile- era) influence back into the riffs. Christian must have studied jon and the early stuff and was able to channel that killer style (mixed with his own originality). This album is a perfect mix of their classic style with a modern touch. Badass album. 9.5/10

I had kind of given up on Cryptopsy since Lord Worm left the second time, but this is actually fucking solid.
Me too, this release is decent musically for sure, I would just rather more guttural vocals BUT that's just me

Christian Donaldson did such a good job establishing the new cryptopsy sound. This isn’t a call back to none so vile, they’re creating something different. Every riff in this album still keeps the same feel of the band, but has a different flair added by donaldson. A worthy successor to jon levasseur, who is also a guitar virtuoso
I'm not digging the vocals at all, makes me think of deathcore vocals or something.

He has a wide range of sounds and has always been unafraid to experiment with new techniques over the years...
@@RepublicOfWesternCanadaNOW Not that vocals define a genre, but I personally consider Cryptopsy the first, if not one of the first, deathcore bands. Genres change, but their sound definitely was the blueprint for Despised Icon. Despite all that, I don't personally hear deathcore vocals. Sounds like old school death metal vocals to me. White chapel vocals are what I think of when I think deathcore.

I'm going to say this is the best album since and then you'll beg. Great focused and interesting riffs. Much more like their earlier material.

Awesome album ! Tons of good riffage, slower parts are atmospheric as hell, and these constant waves of drumming damn - good lyrics too - Its one you can re-listen to many times and find new things
