      I just got started on Mythic dungeons… and they are surprisingly easy… in a way (for me at least since I hide behind my fellow players and give them support buffs as an envoker as a damage dealer which is the augmentation class) but yeah it’s very fun

    I've been playing since original BC.. I was never much into the raids but loved running dungeons, especially after they became "old".. when mythics came out, I started backing off the game in whole little by little BECAUSE I could not UNDERSTAND how mythics WORKED. I quit the game altogether a few years ago for that and many other reasons, and came back last week. I decided I should be doing something of relevance when I play so chose to finally learn about mythics.. this video was the first on the list of my search so I gave it a go. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! You explained it in such a way that I FINALLY understand how they work!! I was SO AFRAID of them for so many years!! And now I feel like I can actually participate in SOMETHING my guild does!! I can feel USEFUL in some way!! Great video thanks. It's good to add that it's everyone's job to stay alive. Use your survival abilities, for instance: less damage and immunities. Make sure to be using interrupts and stuns. Know which enemy abilities to interrupt, communicate and take turns if it's necessary. Higher levels are a gear check for sure, get your enchants, gems, phials, even food buffs. Always remember, mechanics first! Don't finish your cast if you need to move, JUST MOVE. Avoid all avoidable damage that you can. Cheers 🍻 good luck out there!

    Thank you for that video. I´m a main Guild Wars 2 player that just started out coming back off-time after ~12 years not even a month ago after quitting in early MoP. I figured that Mythic+ would be roughly the same as fractals in GW2, and for the most part, i seem to be correct (with some mechanics-differences of course, it´s 2 different games after all).
    However: i would NEVER have figured out how to even ENTER a M+ dungeon to begin with.
    I´m actually quite surprised by WoW, that they did something with dungeons, that GW2 deliberately did at launch. Entering the dungeon from the actual portal in open world (GW2 intentionally does NOT have any automatic group-finder for anything). I was always under the impression, that due to the dungeon finder (which we do NOT have in GW2), going into M+ would work somewhat similar (which is the reason i´d probably NEVER had figured out how it works)
    If you´re not a Guild Wars 2 player, but you´re curious what the differences and similarities between Mythic+ (WoW) and Fractals (GW2) are, you should read further. If not: just ignore the rest of this comment :)
    fractals in GW2 are, for the most part, somewhat similar to M+. They are 5-man instanced dungeons with scaling dificulty. However: we have a portal in the main HUB-city that just leads you to a lobby where you select your scale (1-100) and enter every fractal from (in fact, it´s your ONLY access to the fractals).
    With each scale, starting at scale 20, a new mechanic starts to take effect. It´s called "agony", and it deals a %-based amount of damage to you, ignoring boons like protection, invulnerabilities etc with every tick. A tick occurs frequently, and additionally on certain mechanics from bosses and instabilities.
    Agony is reduced by Agony resistance, a new stat exclusively used and found in fractals and applied by agony infusions (an upgrade that slots into ascended equipment) and this is basically our equivalent to a keystone, as this agony-damage can scale up to 180% of your max health per tick unless you have enough agony resist.
    I mentioned instabilities before, so what are instabilities? well, from what i learned from the video, they are somewhat similar to affixes, but they have a bit more variety and randomness. each of the 25 fractals can have a different instability every day. they occur on scale 26-50 (1 instability), 51-75 (2 instabilities) and 76-100 (3 instabilities), with each adding additional mechanics, wich change every day. Almost every type of instability can occur on every fractal, with some instabilities never occuring on specific fractals (for example, Flux bomb will NEVER occur in the "aquatic ruins" fractal)
    However: unlike WoW, we do NOT have a timer to complete the fractal, so that´s a major difference to M+ here
    Since GW2 doesn´t have an equivalent to "heroic dungeons", fractals are their own seperate category. however: Fractal scale 97, 98, 99 and 100 have an additional challenge-mode, that make the fight harder, and especially entirely revamp fractal scale 99 and 100 (basically skipping everything and going directly to the boss, while also sometimes adding an entire new phase after the "original'" boss fight, drastically increasing their difficulty.
    And, as already mentiond, since we do not have an automated tool for finding dungeons (or instanced content in general), everything is done through our LFG, which is categorized into 4 Tiers (1-25, 26-50, 51-75 and 76-100). you cannot open an LFG-group by yourself (works somewhat similar to the manual lfg in wow, but without the "application", you just join) for any T2-T4 fractal UNLESS you increase your personal fractal level. Said personal fractal level increases by 1 for each fractal at or above your current fractal level once you complete it (for example: if your personal level is 5, and you complete it, your personal fractal level increases to 6. If you then complete fractal scale 10, it increases to 7), and this does not only apply account-wide, it can NEVER be reduced. Thats basically our equivalent to keystones.
    If you´ve read this far: thanks for bearing with a player talking about an entirely different game, or even a competitor on the same market. I hope it was interesting for you to learn about a similar, yet different approach to scaling dungeons. have a nice day :)

    • @TheSwaglock
      @TheSwaglock  2 месяца назад

      Not to be a nerd that feels the need to explain everything. But the reason you can't queue up like heroics is because the content is significantly harder, and random queue groups generally lack a lot of organization. Sometimes it's great, but as someone who runs keys frequently I can assure you that Mythic+ would become an absolute nightmare if you were randomly assigned groups.

    When the time runs up, are teleported out of the dungeon or can you continue to figure things out, just not get the key? I am also a bit put off by all this preparing. I'd prefer to figure things out with the group. That's the fun, imho. I already have to study all day and I prefer playing WoW to do something else.

    • @TheSwaglock
      @TheSwaglock  9 месяцев назад

      If your timer runs out you can continue to run the dungeon. Upon completion you’ll receive a key at one level lower than what you just ran. I encourage running keys to completion even if you don’t time it as a way to better learn the dungeon. Keep in mind that they become progressively tougher as levels go up. So a +2 mythic is a very safe space to learn the dungeon and how to handle some of the mechanics. Then you’ll continue to face more challenges as you step up. By the time you make it to +15’s you should have a good understanding of the dungeons.
      I’d also suggest looking at raiding as well. Similar to dungeons but bigger groups and more focused on boss fights. Those emphasize throwing yourself at the same challenge constantly until you get it figured out.

    • @TheSwaglock
      @TheSwaglock  5 месяцев назад

      I explained everything you need to know in order to get started. Everything else becomes self explanatory along the way. The video does explain how to get into a group for mythics, as for getting into the dungeon itself you will need to look up the name of the dungeon you're doing and figure out where the entrance is. Or ask the group you're in. I cant put that in the video as it changes every season.
      As for the order of the keys, it does not matter what order you do them in. Once you run your first mythic level dungeon you will get ONE key for a dungeon to do. Completing that key will give you a new key and remove the old one.

  • @GigEdict-S1C

    How do you get a key? I only hear how to get a key by completing a mythic dungeon. How do you get one outside mythic?

    • @TheSwaglock
      @TheSwaglock  Месяц назад

      The only way to get a key is by completing a mythic dungeon. However, keys only increase the difficulty of a mythic dungeon, so if you run what we can a Mythic 0, you dont need a key. A mythic 0 is just a mythic dungeon with no key inserted, it's base level mythic.

  • @WarrickRanger
    @WarrickRanger 3 месяца назад

    My advice: detach yourself from the notion that timing a key is "winning" and depleting a key is "losing". The only time you lose is when you don't learn something from the run. Yes, you will deplete keys, and a whole lot of them if you are pushing yourself to get better and taking on challenges just beyond your comfort zone. That's how you improve. Yeah you'll have to deal with a lot of jackwagons who believe their iO is their entire identity, but you can ultimately laugh it off and ignore them.

    • @TheSwaglock
      @TheSwaglock  7 месяцев назад

      Gear required for mythic dungeons changes every season, so it wouldnt be useful info here. Knowledge of the dungeons goes way further than gear anyways. However, you can loot gear at the end of each run, and on tuesdays you get a piece of gear from your vault for the highest dungeons you did. That info is all given to you ingame, so it didnt feel necessary to include in the video.

    Am I the only person who uses the same 4 spells to heal? I must be trash at this game 😂

      Obviously depends on your spec and how it players. But so long as you’re enjoying the content you do, and feel like you do well enough at it, that’s all that matters!

    I just came to see if they removed affixes. It's the reason I quit the game. Looks like i'll wait a few more affixes to see if they'll stop being lazy by adding that cheap annoying bs.

      TWW just removed a good handful and added in affixes that simply empower mobs rather than adding new elements to fights. A lot cleaner than what has existed. Although I'm not sure I would want no affixes at all. I suspect dungeons would get stale a lot faster than they currently do for me.

      While you’re still leveling just run whatever random dungeons the LFG puts you into. At max level you can start trying out the heroic version of those dungeons, and the. Move onto mythic, and eventually Mythic+ (infinitely scaling dungeons)

      Oh yeah, things have definitely changed. I think as you get used to it you'll find the diversity of gameplay helps make things a bit more fun. For sure a bit more complex than it used to be.

      @@TheSwaglock Thanks for the quick response, your videos have defo helped me a lot, so thank you very much. I am still trying to figure out why I have 50 different currencies and why some currencies are in my bags and some are in the tabs... The inconsistency doesn't really help me learn, ngl. And some of the stories are a bit too shallow too. Like Wrathion and Sebellian, these guys have been fighting from the moment they met, yet one quest is all it takes for them to both give it up and hand it to some random cow willingly. Ok, I am exaggerating a bit, but you get what I mean. 🤣 Don't get me wrong, they have improved a lot too and it is still a good game overall.

      Ahaha yeah, the difficulty of coming back to the story after time has passed definitely loses impact. You'll get back into it im sure! As for Wrathion, Sebellion, and Ebonhorn/Ebyssian. We first met Ebyssian in Legion, so he's been developing for a while. Although everyone assumed Blizz loved Wrathion too much to make Ebyssian the Aspect (even though he was most fit for it). So to see both Wrathion and Sebellion realize that Deathwing's legacy is not what they want, a realization that Ebyssian had a long time ago, is a nice step in the story. I cheered a little when they picked him, I was rooting for Ebonhorn since the very start of this expansion lol.
