I like the way she hits the high “eeeeent” at the end, the rough and short ending feels more like a genuine scream of exasperation. You can hear in a lot of her songs how she sometimes prioritizes authenticity of character over technical perfection.
I’m doing this again cause I’m bored! So some facts about K Howard! •Anne Boleyn and K Howard were first cousins. K Howard and Jane were second cousins (I’m not sure about Anne and Jane though) •She loved animals, especially dogs •After the death of her mother she got sent to live with her Step-grandmother because her father couldn’t take care of all her siblings. (That’s when everything went down) •This is more of a six fact but in between verses she actually has a monologue that isn’t recorded in the studio recording. For example after the first verse and chorus she says “But then there was another guy, (giggle) Francis. And at the time I was living at my step grandma’s house, he was working for her. Working so so hard. So he asked me to be his little piece of ass-istant...” and then it continues. After the second verse and chorus she says “Yea that didn’t work out....it turns out some guys just employ women to get them into their private chambers. (Sigh) Different time back then...so I decided to have a break from boys, just focus on my career, then my dad got me this amazing workplace in court! And you’ll never guess who I met...” and it keeps going. •Her uncle, Duke of Norfolk, actually got her the job in court, her dad had already died at the time. •As a result to the Dowager Duchess’ (her step-grandma) lack of attention, Katherine was influenced by a group of girls who allowed men into their sleeping areas (bedroom) at night. •She was usually described as vivacious, giggly and brisk. •Mannox was actually 36, 23 was their age gap. •Mannox and Katherine never actually had sex but he did touch her inappropriately and basically groomed and molested her when she was 13-15 before she could get away. •It’s believed that Francis Dereham and Katherine were in love and had a relationship. If they had exchanged their Vows they would’ve been considered married in the eyes of the church, but he basically got a close relationship so he could get what he wanted from her (hence: gets what he wants and he won’t take no). The Dowager Duchess found out and sent Katherine away. •Her job in court was basically being a Lady in waiting to Anne of Cleves. Being an attractive young lady she caught the eyes of Henry. •Her uncle forced the marriage in a way to save their family’s reputation after Anne’s beheading •Thomas Culpepper was actually her cousin. He was Henry’s favorite male courtier. He tried to get with Katherine but when she rejected him he raped her, blackmailed her (he knew all about her past history with Mannox and Dereham because she believed they were friends and trusted him) and historians believe that he forced her to write him a love letter. •When Henry found out and sentenced her to be beheaded she screamed and pleaded her innocence as she ran through the the halls of The Hampton Court Palace. People say that she haunts those hallways, relieving that moment. When they went to take her to the prison at the Tower of London she allegedly panicked and screamed as they manhandled her into the barge that would take her. •When they passed over traitor’s gate she had to see Dereham and Culpepper’s heads placed on spikes (Dereham was hanged, drawn and quartered and Culpepper was beheaded. Mannox was able to escape the country.). •The night before her beheading she asked for the block so she could practice laying her head on it. She wanted to look perfect when they beheaded her. On the day they had to hold her up because her legs kept giving away and they had to carry her up the scaffolding. Sorry for the long comment but I hope you found something interesting and new!

She at the very least had a platonic relationship with Thomas Culpepper and was beheaded because of it. In contrast her cousin Anne Boleyn, who was most likely not guilty of anything. Catherine was 19 when she died. The song starts of sensual, but the more we learn and the more men use Catherine, the more desparate her singing becomes. It is very powerful to me.

I love singing and I've talked to one of the music teachers we had in school about air control and hitting high notes. Most of what I learned from her and a few other ppl don't entirely work for me bc I'm in a wheelchair. Most ppl tell me sing from ur core but I have no real control there so I primarily sing from the chest. I'd love to b able to sing this song half as good as Anna💕

I do like this sound better than the original, however she cuts monologues that are important and add to the emotional trauma we learn from the character. Also tbh not seeing the physicality of the end with the choreography and the acting takes away A LOT. Sound is great, but is a broadway show, so without the acting aspect is just meh. I love her voice though, I would love to see if she could gather friends for a choreography and add the acting to a cover.

Likely because the word mate can also be used to describe romantic partners in the USA, which is not what the song is implying. Of course, Brits pretty much exclusively use ‘mate’ as ‘friend’ and you’d think that the audience would be able figure it out without needing the word changed.

I do like this sound better than the original, however she cuts monologues that are important and add to the emotional trauma we learn from the character. Also tbh not seeing the physicality of the end with the choreography and the acting takes away A LOT. Sound is great, but is a broadway show, so without the acting aspect is just meh. I love her voice though, I would love to see if she could gather friends for a choreography and add the acting to a cover.

Likely because the word mate can also be used to describe romantic partners in the USA, which is not what the song is implying.
Of course, Brits pretty much exclusively use ‘mate’ as ‘friend’ and you’d think that the audience would be able figure it out without needing the word changed.

This sounds so weird sounds strangled/over stretched and to deep for the character. Why do this one and not one of the actual queens like Amie or Sam? Or even better the vid with them both.
