The dance captain, Mallory Maedke, was a last second substitute for Abby Mueller because she had Miss ‘Rona. THAT is the power of Swings and Understudies, and they deserve the praise for being able to learn parts in such a short amount of time.
I appreciated Arianna Debose for giving Mallory props live backstage after their performance on the Tonys! It's no small feat to go on with 12 hours notice and she did a wonderful job!
The fact that someone was able to step in and own the role of Jane Seymor at auch a last moment and still OWN wvery moment is insane. Bless the understudies. They work so hard
I didn’t expect them to do a mix between the songs ‘Ex-wives’ and ‘Six’ but I’m so glad they did for the Tony’s (and the platinum jubilee) because it seals off the performance a little and doesn’t leave you wanting the rest of the show (if you’re someone like me who has seen it)
The always do that. They did that when the OG West End cast performed at the Oliver Awards, and a lot of performances that are outside of the theather. Example: this cast when they first were on Broadway when they performed at Broadway con they did this version for the performance
I think part of the reason Brittany Mack's (Anne of Cleves) music is not as musical as the others is that historically, Anne of Cleves did not practice or study music. In fact, she was tone deaf. So, in order to be historically accurate, perhaps the writers gave her the least melodic melodies. Just a thought.
I think the main think is that Cleve's character style is modeled off of hip hop artists, where the focus is less on the melody and more on rhythm and spoken-word form.
The actress playing Jane Seymour! As Callalily said, that's the dance captain Mallory Maedke. She learned, like, 2 hours before rehearsals that she'd be going on!
well yea you wouldn’t know from this performance because this wasn’t her first time covering seymour. she’s gone on for seymour on broadway multiple times.
@@trevonte3723 in i believe boston in the original tour, she was basically a replacement seymour when abby was out on i believe an injury. i think she's played seymour more than her other roles combined lmao
maybe it's just me but the change in Andrea's voice for her part felt like she was leaning into more of a femme fatale vibe which is something that it's sometimes associated with Anne Boleyn, but all of them sounded great in this performance!
They blew the roof off of Radio City!!! This was a finale to match all the iconic Tony Awards performances. I have this on DVR & I literally play it on an endless loop. Fingers crossed 🤞 I can take my NYC vacation in October. I will go to every performance I can get tickets. THANK YOU AUDREY FOR ALL THE SIX CONTENT… I had my ankle completely reconstructed, so lots of days/months in bed binging you on RUclips. Keep up the amazing content.
I think another reason they would be less nervous because they are singing for a crowd that understand them and family pretty much. They are actually playing for people that appreciate what the do.
The word that you were thinking of with Mallory is alternate or understudy. And six has I believe four on Broadway (Mallory, Nicole Courtney, and I might be wrong but I think Hana is still there) and yeah, there so awesome. So much respect for them Also I would love to see you react to teenage high school covers and musical performances. There’s so many amazing ones out there and it would be cool to see your reaction. (Look up Amanda Reid Heathers. She’s in a high school production, dancing, singing and acting with a mask on and she kills it)
I actually went to see Six a few weeks ago and unthought they were awesome! I love musicals but didn’t have any expectations so I was pleasantly surprised
Honestly? Sam Paulys Version of K Howard is by far my favourite not just cause she is pink but her whole delivery of "All you wanna do" is SO FANTASTIC!!! Gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME!
If you search on youtube for West End Live, you will find live West End performances - esp from Six etc - over the past few years. As long as they aren't location locked, its a great way to see live UK performances which aren't bootlegs X
I know people have really wanted you to react to a Megasix for a really long time, and the OG West End Cast recently had their weekend rerun and proshot. Do you think we could get your analysis of one of the Megasixes from those performances, especially to see how that first cast has developed over the last few years?
Don't even have to watch the video to know the answer the question in the thumbnail. The Jane Seymour who is performing was tapped to come in less than 12 hours before the performance. No way they pre-recorded vocals under that time constraint.
I think slow-sexy could be called sultry, and an incase-shit-happens person is generally called a standby or understudy, though in the case of this show they're called alternates because the performers rotate instead of performing eight shows a week. I didn't even realize that someone was filling in as Seymore, because normally if one of the alternates performs they have their own costume. Each costume is a unique blend of all the queens so that the alternates can play any character, and simply switch hairstyles as needed. I saw this show in London (three alternates, the whole cast was fantastic) and it was amazing! Somehow my sister fell asleep??? I'd love to see it on broadway to see if anything was changed since the London theater was pretty small.
For the US productions, the alternates wear the costumes of the character they're playing. It's part of the union rules, to prevent understudies (etc.) from being treated worse than the principal cast members. (I'd argue that, for this show, it's not treating them worse, but the show was already in trouble with the unions for allowing people to film Megasix during their run in Chicago, so I guess they didn't feel that this one was worth fighting for while also fighting that.)
There were some changes made to the choreography for the Broadway version ("Get Down" had the biggest changes), but then they made those same changes to the West End production, so whether it was the same would depend on when you saw it. A few other things (like some of the harmonies are a bit different, and updated costumes and lighting) that were also brought back to the West End. The one Broadway change that they didn't bring to the UK was a few small lyrics changes, mostly just changing "mate" to "friend" and "fit" to "hot."
Six was my first ever broadway cast show. It was cool because, I saw I in st.paul with the original broadway cast, before they performed on in New York for the first time
It’s a good performance but I think I heard somewhere that they were having sound issues they never got fixed before the performance because the music wasn’t ass loud as it was supposed to be in certain parts.
I think the slow sexy word for Boleyn you were looking for was sultry cuz I was thinking that when I heard it too I was like ooh I like the switch from the perkiness 😂
Gotta also check out "Let it burn" from paradise square at this year's tony awards. Joaquina Kalukango brought the house down and won the tony for best female lead right after.
I just saw six this week and it was so good! some of the singers were different though. Catherine of Aragon and Katherine Howard were the same singers. They were so good that they inspired me to keep working on my voice and to one day try for Broadway cause its been my dream since i can ever remember.
you can react to because i liked a boy by sabrina carpenter. the song talks about all the hate that came to sabrina during the olivia rodrigo and joshua basset drama
I don’t know where the best place to put this is, but you should react to Aaron Tveit! Especially his Miscast performances, but this is a good one too: ruclips.net/video/FV-A_1FtIgU/видео.html

Less than 12hours for her to prep to perform on Broadways biggest stage
I appreciated Arianna Debose for giving Mallory props live backstage after their performance on the Tonys! It's no small feat to go on with 12 hours notice and she did a wonderful job!
The alternates for this show are so incredible!
The fact that someone was able to step in and own the role of Jane Seymor at auch a last moment and still OWN wvery moment is insane. Bless the understudies. They work so hard

they usually mix ex-wives and six for any outside performances
The always do that. They did that when the OG West End cast performed at the Oliver Awards, and a lot of performances that are outside of the theather. Example: this cast when they first were on Broadway when they performed at Broadway con they did this version for the performance

That is so interesting
well anne of cleves lived longer and did return to her palace with her riches so she ate that song
She's inspired from Cardi B
nope, she’s inspired by Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. Those are the official inspirations
The "slow sexy" word you were looking for is sultry! You're right, she slowed it down just a touch, though the crazy does still shine through.
I was sayin this during the video! 😂 she was like “idk if there’s a word” and I was like~ it’s sultry!!
I read that one of the six was a last-minute stand-in for Abbie Mueller. You def wouldn’t know from this performance!
Yes, Mallory Maedke was substituted in last-minute because Abby Mueller got Covid.

I saw Mallory play Jane a couple nights before this and she was phenomenal. Her version of Heart of Stone gave me CHILLS.
The ‘Incase Shit Happens’ person is called an Understudy 😂 But I like that name as well
Yea me too haha!
maybe it's just me but the change in Andrea's voice for her part felt like she was leaning into more of a femme fatale vibe which is something that it's sometimes associated with Anne Boleyn, but all of them sounded great in this performance!
I adore Brittany mack especially in this role. Anne of cleaves is my favorite in this play. Her song is my favorite, with parr's a close second
I like how you were basically fangirling the whole video because I was doing the same haha

Mallory Maedke was Suddenly Seymour

Thank you for another great Six reaction video! I can't get enough of them. I look forward to your one-on-one videos with the cast!

Can you react to a performance of this year's Six West End Live? I would love to hear your imput of the ladies across the ocean. I love them.

I think a reaction to Jasmine's Heart of Stone on Tiny Desk is needed, because we are still shook.

Who wants to see her react to Abby Mueller’s Heart of Stone??? I know I do!
Slow sexy = Seductive, I think. :D Also from now on...understudy is known as the "in case shit" person. I love it!
The biggest coincidence and convenience for the writers of this was the patterened sequence of fate for the 6 wives
Why did no one mention the dog! He was adorable
Not me thinking there would be a dog on stage lol
I love how excited you look to be watching this video!
“Sultry” is the word you’re looking for, I think. 3:34
Where did you find this recording? I've been wanting to watch this for years!
Slow sexy = "Sultry"
If you wanna see something theatrical and powerful (vocally wise) I recommend ‘Straykids I’ll be your man kingdom performance’ 🙏🏼
