  • Hangin out at the haul road of the local coal mine. Caught a drive by of a couple 777's and a Cat 24M Grader. This is yet again another Diggin Ditchin N Bitchin production, and yes this is the DD&B unit 1.

    You tilt the wheels in a grader the same direction that you're rilling the material, to counter the side-draft effect, and also helps with turning and the same goes for articulating.

    I am that guy on the 24m,did you notice how I straight bladed the RRD40 intersection with respect to public traffic,so both ways of traffic can keep on going,yes upon articulation with our winter edges it's tough picking up the blade without dragging, but the coal haulers will flatten it one pass.So it is a thankless job in some ways,but as long as everyone keeps moving.cant please everyone.greatest job in the world.i love it,and that was a BAD day weather wise.thanks for your comments.

      It is a thankless job on the graders.. One of the most important pieces of support equipment.. They needed twice the fleet they have.

    Great vid and machines!! The weather give a nice sinister feel. Love those CAT 777's haul trucks!! There a nice change from the dump body trucks. The grader operator was showing off at 1:28, nice!

    @alco424 Ah but how do you know they are not 777s that have been converted??? But you're right it's the excat same truck just without a box. Adding a hitch makes it a 776, I'll edit the title.

    @theoman69 Yes, graders are articulated. The M series have a button, on the joystick, which you can press to auto-center the articulation.. It looks like he was coming out of the turn and went to straighten out, turning the tires and pressing the button -- but the 'press on the button' didnt take and didnt center.. so he had to correct himself. Happens to me quite often for some reason...

    Impressively! It is possible to take an interest concerning a grader: what its capacity, weight, and whether are front axle wheels - traction? The episode at 1:28, to me too has seemed to the amusing :)

    @89489498498498 They actually are 776 tractors. He's just confusing them with the 777 since it's basically the same, just not in a tractor configuration.

    • @blygy
      @blygy 6 лет назад

      Yes it was a Whelen light bar.. I don't recall the exact model.. I don't remember if this unit was but some were special ordered because the graders were 24VDC. A first for Whelen they said.
