I choose to think this was filmed in a magical land where graders are super common and cheap, and elves do the scheduled maintenance for free. Because, therwise, given the hourly operating cost of a grader, including upkeep... he just built a bit of track three times as slowly, at about three times the expense, and with way more danger than if he had hired the right machine first and then used the grader to finish and dress the surface

@@DavidHands That's all speculation. For all we know they have an easy access road for the heavy hauler to bring the equipment. Perhaps they just didn't have access to a dozer on this day. Or maybe time constraints dictated them to just resort to using the motor-grader.

@NibblesTheNibbler :Any reason for using grader is speculation. A dozer doing the job in 5 minutes is speculation too.
I just spent a year in the middle of the daintree rainforest. After you take the barge across the Daintree River, you have to drive over a jungle mountain range that takes about 40 minutes in a car. With large trucks unable to traverse the road, a D6 would not only destroy the only road access in the area, it would take many hours just to reach the site blocking all traffic in the meantime. The guy claiming the 5 minutes is a "dozer guy" assuming the dozer is magically sitting there ready to go. If you both want to ignore the real world travel time, fine whatever. I dpend much of my time in remote areas, not suburbia.

@@DavidHands "I spent a year in the middle of the daintree rainforest. . ." Well howdy doo, good for you, buddy. And how many construction jobs require you to barge across a river or traverse the jungle to get to the work site? Not many, at least in the industrialized world. This particular landscape doesn't look like a jungle in any way, so your little story/point is moot. Regardless, a D6 LGP, and especially a D5, wouldn't rip up or destroy most access roads. We drive D6s of all types on access roads all the time. The only roads we typically have to avoid are ones that are finished roads or existing roads that won't be repaired/resurfaced. If it's dirt or gravel, who gives a fuck if you drive a tracked vehicle over it? All you have to do is smooth it over later on.

I don't like to be critical; however, this is a pretty silly video. It's obvious a D6 would have run circles around a blade here. Secondly, watching some repeatedly high center themself with the ripper bar is not the pinicle of skill

Kudos to the operator. Dangerous and difficult job for a grader. This needed a dozer for some clearing and rough filling, before putting the grader to work.

This operator is just awesome. The grader is the best all round piece of equipment. I never saw a grader work this hard before 🤣. You have to work with what ya have sometimes. In this case I’m guessing a dozer wasn’t nearby 🤣. Well done operator 🫡🏅
