Ran a 24 m at the coal mine here in Alberta. To get a good crown, windrow from the outside to the middle; then put the grader in the center of the road; then put the blade as straight across , with both sides in the air and blade it so the gravel stays in the middle of the road, not in the ditch
I personally would love to see you rebuild this motor grader, I’ve operated a blade for 20+ years and it would be really cool to see that one get restored
Not a grader guy, but having run some equipment getting to jump up to a bigger machine is always a kick in the pants, as long as it's not a worn out pile of junk.
You should have had the blade rotated the other way to cause the gravel to move to the middle of the road. As you found out, now you have to clear the gravel down each of the lanes. It’s called crown because it should be the highest point on the road so that the water runs off the road.
Great explanation of the controls. I watch to see these machines up close. How many gallons of diesel did that job take? Is there a market for charging people to drive your machines? I know, lawyers and insurance. I worked next to a heavy equipment school where they had a big field that they pushed dirt from one side to the other and back.
Hello. I found a picture of a 6 axle cat motor with two engines . Have you seen one ? I can’t read the mod number. Too blurry. Something like 434 N. I trued to include picture. I enjoy your videos.
At first I thought you were doing one of those ( fool you ) videos 😊 but heck no you started grading with the monster. 😊 When I visited Kinnacot Mine in Salt lake City. From visiting view point, there were THREE grading hual roads. Each one ran just behind the other but not fully behind My only time on a Grader was a John Deere 570. ( Showing my age) I liked the ( T) handle control lever for mold board.
next video ... if you can.... explain what the float is for.. and show how you can ditch with the machine... if you can? the articulation at the back is for making it around tight corners and off set grading.... but a grader op should explain this all
There is a feature on those graders. I ran a greater for about two months with a company in Pittsburgh called independence and what I did was when I was a little bit of slack time I was keeping the whole roads smooth top for the off-road trucks anyway there’s a feature with the blade you can tip the blade forward and what you’re doing as you’re carrying less material in the direction you’re going at least more material behind that’s OK you didn’t know did a nice job anyways are and always remember that blade can if you bring it back too far will damage your tire and boss man won’t be happy about that anyway, this is a Jim Mungai from Kennerdell Pennsylvania. I also go by six and a rowJim, I have a 1991.5 dodge three-quarter ton and it’s got six in a row under the hood anyways 95,000 hours on that machine that’s pretty impressive very impressive actually and also I’m going to see the people that used it ran it properly and did good maintenance all right run some good quality fuel injection cleaner in the fuel. You talked about an injector hanging up. It might take care of that for you. Happy new year.
Looks like it’s working well enough to fix up and resell I’d hate to see it parted out 😢 there was a guy at the coal mine who operated one of those and he was really skilled with it bad thing was they only had him grade the road when us haulers bitched enough that we just got tired of it and slowed down our rounds lol 😂
Great video, thumbs 👍 up will watch them all,I bet that ripper could really stab a car body, where do you have all those ATV side by sides listed ? Or did they get junked?
Reminds me of the old John Deere commercial where they use a combine to cut the grass on a 1 acre house lot in 3.5 seconds and plow his garden with a 8760 in 4.5 seconds.🍻
I already know what they're for, bcause one of my cousins used to drive a grader for the county, clean ditches out & grade dirt roads,he let me drive the one he was driving,it was one of those older graders that has the knuckle buster levers,it was fun, he told me how & when to tilt the wheels & do the blade,it was so cool 😎 wish I had that old grader
He managed to 14:24 move most of the rock to the ditches. A skilled grader oper 15:50 ator would have said the grader is way too big for the job. He didnt too bad with such a huge grader however. 😢
So Wise , Thank you , for showing us what the levers do . I do hope that you and you're team can restore that Magnificent Beast . As a practical matter Who will buy it , are they willing and able to pay what you need to make it worth the trouble and expense. Sadly to big to be Practical in most places, my opinion
That’s like trying to frost a cupcake with a machete..

I'm a grader guy, and running a 24 would be the highlight of my operating experience.

Me too mate. So hopefully one day I can tell that story to my grandkids one day 😆🍻
I think it would be a real waste parting out a beautiful machine like that!
My comment for this video is not to tell how to or how not to.....here is my comment.....TONKA, TONKA, TOONNKKAAAAA!
Nice part of your job is getting to play with all the toys, before you get to tear it apart. Just like when we were kids.
Learning how the big grader works was interesting and fun. Although, at almost 81, I don’t think I’ll ever get to use what I learned! 😊 🇨🇦

Any size Grader is a percision tool design to do percise fine work. it takes skill to operate it

Please (from France !) don't tear it into a million pieces, this "monster beauty" must have some to show yet ! Rocks !!
Lowers the blade 5 inches of rock gone lmao jkjk
It didn’t even feel it
I wish our freeway crew would buy it. Judging by the time they take and the levelness they are using pickaxes and garden hoes.

Go get Casey
Learn by doing
Too big for the job is an understatement 😮
Rebuild it this one is a keeper
Damn going crazy over the cut edge on the blade haha, fix it! 😅
That motorgrader sounds awesome with caterpillar power with cat diesel power 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

No, don't kill it , I'm in my pickup heading your way, never to big for the job, just get a bigger job

Awesome video! Love you passion for heavy equipment!
Hey we’re just up the road in Powell Butte right off 126, can you come do our private road with that?
Take a drink every time he says "go ahead" and another drink every time the horn sounds, and you will be as drunk as I am!
Ran them for 8 years, H and M class. Our roads where 20 to 40 metres wide
Great video, thumbs 👍 up will watch them all,I bet that ripper could really stab a car body, where do you have all those ATV side by sides listed ? Or did they get junked?
All of the sxs got sold
@@quintonbartolotta oh ok thanks
You need to get ahold of the big 24M grader which is bigger than the 24H
That’s How my boss started me off on a motor grader. “Make this road flat” Cat 140H. I’m Still in the learning process. Graders build roads 😎.
It would only take me a few minutes to irreparably foul up my driveway with that thing!😄
That's pretty cool. Thanks for the video
i would like to see you plow snow with this lol
I run a 150 cat now and would to operate that one, cool machine
I work at black thunder in Wyoming, you definitely have a great machine here compared to the m-series. Nice machine bud!!!!
Tell the maintenance planners to give me a shout haha
I'd love come and drive that monster
Love the caterpillar stuff pleas more 👍
I would fix it up and use it for plowing snow
Please fix it a give it new life
Looks perfect from my house

Fantastic ! 🌟
Your biggest problem is you have too much junk in the road but do your best I quest. Hard to do with one hand came out pretty good

Great content
Worked on quite a few of the 24 h , 24 m ‘s in northern Alberta. Awesome machines
Put this big machine work again.
Hello from Brazil.
Good job 😊
That was interesting. It also gave a good view of your vast yard.😀🇬🇧
That thing is MONSTER! Nice to see it works…..👍👍
Damn near need to be a pianist to drive that thing. All 88 levers in the cab.
A little overkill don’t ya think. That thing is massive.
I know a real good wash guy. That 24 is massive!
Which year was manufactured
2005
Good work for someone who doesn't operate that often!
Okay, go ahead and back up.
Restore it and put that 24 grader out on hire ..it would be good to see
He managed to 14:24 move most of the rock to the ditches. A skilled grader oper 15:50 ator would have said the grader is way too big for the job. He didnt too bad with such a huge grader however. 😢
Go ahead!

The highway department needs those. The can fix the roads faster
