    "HOPE THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED!"
    After editing this video that part has been stuck in my head SO bad. I guess you could say some of the vocals are in fact growing on me. Some are still a bit foreign to me, but at least I can safely say that I am growing to like this song more and more the more I hear it. Have a good day!

      It will grow on you and the more you explore the more you will see that the early stuff was powerful and aggressive and we watched and evolution of souls for these guys (which also helped with millions of others evolutions)...if ya do their songs from the beginning...you will see it and hear it and then is will seem a perfect piece of the puzzle. They really all fit.

    During the production of Lateralus, the label ask the band for something “harder” that could be marketed to the masses. tool gave them this… which of course couldn’t be played on the radio, etc due to the long drum solo and the 3 minute “interlude”.
    "Hope this is what you wanted"

      Maynard with a teachable moment...”careful what you ask for, because you might just get it”. Personally I love T&L even though it doesn’t fit with the rest of the album. Any artist whose ever been commissioned to perform or create something for a client has this song, or at least the sentiment of it, lying in wait in their heads.

    Maynard actually hurt his throat/ voice because of this song. This song was dedicated to the exec's that forced them to put something "hard/ angry" on this album. No, they do not need to be listened to as a whole. This has been the most confusing trend in reactions and tool fans. The listener should decide after hearing each alone if it speaks to them that way or not. They do not for me and I’m not digging how much this has become a fad. Very...not Tool.

    • @Soliloquy66
      @Soliloquy66 3 года назад +4

      @@laurenhunterviolinchannel1123 well...would agree that the value of a musical arrangement should be evaluated on its own merit and the listener can objectively decide on their own the value if the composition. That being said, I personally enjoy the 3 songs in succession as it seems they compliment each other and seem to have an arc when listened together. But, as to my comment, I was just letting the gentleman know that among many listeners the 3 songs are generally listened together as a triad ..a musical group of three. But certainly...he and anyone are free to do as they may.♡

    I think your response is on point. It’s a glorious middle finger to the record company they were working with, but it is not in keeping with the tone with the rest of the album. I don’t know if it is intentional, but it’s in the middle of the album like it is the middle finger of the album. It’s either hilariously deliberate or a great coincidence.

And effing awesome… in my professional opinion. PS, I know what you mean about wanting to play like Danny but I’ve only ever known a few drummers with the insane ambition to really play how and what he plays and to do it just like him. Maynard has always used his voice as an instrument. This is an angry song and you can definitely hear the anger and disgust in his voice...it not only matches the song lyrically but musically as well. It's definitely not the "beautiful Maynard voice" that we are so used to, but it is nonetheless effective...just another example of his great range.

    You'll love the title track (hopefully haha, atleast it's one of the fan favorites). The song that made me open my eyes for Tool. Those lyrics are something else. The fact that the whole song is built on fibonacci numbers is mindblowing, and how he goes "spiral out, keep going" in the end just so cool. Maybe you already know what the fibonacci sequence is, but you should look up "The Golden Ratio" before listening. It's a pattern found everywhere in the universe. Nature, spiral galaxies etc. It's like a mathematical formula that the entire universe (and the song itself) is built upon and that makes the song that much deeper.
