    Thanks for the review. Love to see new options.
    I bought my Battleborn 100 amp hour battery for $799 with a ten year warranty, the AOlithium is on sale for $629 with a limited 3 year warranty.

      Thanks, yes I should have mentioned the warranty. Battle born at 10 years and Lion Energy with the lifetime warranty is very impressive. AOlithium does a two level warranty for 3 years for their smaller batteries but these in the video have a 5 year warranty.

    Very good information. I've been holding off going to LiFePO4 for a few years watching prices go down and seeing how they work in the real world. As my 6v golf cart batteries are now almost 6 years old it'll be about time soon to replace... 6 years ago I contended replacing with BB at $1500 ea was not cost effective despite all the voodoo math that was going on. Now the knock offs are about there.

    I was wondering if you could answer a question. If I switch to Lithium and upgrade my converter to charge them properly, Do i need to do anything to my tow vehicle. I understand it may not charge to 100% percent while traveling and i am fine with that, I am just wondering if it will do any damage to my alternator. I am hoping I can do nothing.

    Hello. Question about the smartshunt and my trailer. From the factory, the batteries were grounded to the frame. I'm guessing the distribution panel has its own ground too. Can I connect the shunt to chassis ground or should I look where the distribution panel grounds and do some trailer rewiring?

      @@AllAboutRVs related to the "drop in" question, if you were to buy a couple of lithium batteries with stock controller, and ran them for a year or two charging to 80-90% regularly. After upgrading controller to handle lithium would batteries function as designed or would the 2 years of partial recharging have a negative effect on them?

    I prefer my SOK's. They don't yet have Bluetooth built in but I hear it's coming. They don't have these ridiculous terminals to deal with. They can also handle 4 batteries in series or 10 in parallel. I purchased the 206ah models which have a lot of capacity in a reasonable size.

    Thank you - very helpful video.
    We do boondock and travel with a Honda EU2000i generator and a 200w solar suitcase (gives us a lot of flexibility). Even with being conservative with lighting and the propane furnace use, we had two times last fall that we could not bring the slides in in the morning without connecting the generator. I think this video has tipped me over the edge to replace my two (2) lead-acid batteries with two (2) 100aH lithium batteries.
    It would be a "drop in" approach using the Bluetooth BMS and an upgraded lithium compatible charger converter of the same amperage as the existing one. I will continue to travel with the solar and generator for charging. I would not be adding an inverter or extra 12v loads.
    The questions: Can I just use the existing 12v power cabling (6awg) from the batteries in the front compartment of the 5th wheel (Grand Design Reflection) to the distribution panel? Should I add any additional fuses because etc. because they have higher "deliverability"?

    • @KeithStarr
      @KeithStarr 2 года назад +2

      You do not need to upgrade the wire gauge between the batteries and converter. You could if you want, might reduce voltage drop if you have any, but absolutely not necessary just because they are lithium batteries. If your loads change (current demand increases) you’d absolutely want to consider the wire gauge.

    great video - Im thinking of making the switch to Lithium - not really boondocking, but have a 12V fridge. the unit has the solar flex 400i from keystone - basically, 2x200 W panels, and 50 AMP solar charger, and a 2000W inverter. is 1x100 ah lithium enough to run only the fridge? any benefit to a single 200ah battery over 2 100 ah batteries?

    • @AllAboutRVs
      @AllAboutRVs  2 года назад

      I would do at least 2 batteries with a 2000W inverter some like the 200ah battery for the capacity to space ratio but often times it only has the output of 100 amps continuous compared to 2 batteries to give you 200ah at 200 amps out cont. depends on your wants and needs.

    Great info Jared. I thought Battle Borne was the only player in the lithium game. Do you have any ideas about why the rv converter couldn’t get the battery to 100% charge?

    • @AllAboutRVs
      @AllAboutRVs  2 года назад

      The converter was for a lead acid battery and the charging voltage isn’t high enough to bring it up to 100%. Jared, I thought you were a Battle Born converted to Lion Energy battery guy? How dare you show alternatives to those esteemed brands! Just kiddin'- I think it's great that you are showing a moderate cost alternative to a $1,000 & $800 battery- I wish more people would do it. I'm glad that a couple of folks are showing the downsides of poorly constructed batteries, and- I really liked the slug of coated copper used in this battery- it really DOES allow the cells to be stretched to their safe capacities! Finally, I don't think that I can 'build' a battery that is this effective for much less than $629. Cells, BMS', copper cable, copper fittings & terminals- not to mention tools that MOST don't own (hydraulic crimpers for 1)- it becomes difficult to make a battery bank (unless large, where costs can be spread) and it's very hard to determine similar capacities among similar cells without additional testing equipment!
