Former Blue Peter presenter Adam Beales lived in this appartmment block, when he moved in, he did a room tour and I remember seeing the Coronation Street set when he filmed on his balcony. Maybe it's the very appartment you filmed in :-)
Quite impressive they can make so much with quite a tight space. Whenever there’s a new location on screen i mostly thought they went to a new spot In Manchester somewhere haha. Good video really interesting seeing behind the scenes
We’re Australian, and I remember our mum going to night school to learn to speak Italian on the only night Coronation St was on, and as this was in 1972, we had to set up the cassette recorder and tape it in front of the telly so that she could listen to it as there were no VCR’s. We still laugh about it, I was only in grade 6 in primary school. I could never understand her commitment to the show and still don’t and she hasn’t watched it for decades now. The only one that I remember was Ena Sharples as she had such a mean face that she frightened me but was probably a very nice person in real life. She always wore a hair net 😂
Love this, you guys are so lucky to see all the behind the scenes stuff. I'd love a job working on Corrie doing the set dressing or behind the scenes stuff.
I’ve not watched coronation st in ten years or more, it doesn’t reflect real life or what the actual soap was set out to be , Tony Warren created something with humour and real life , coronation st needs new writers to give it an overhaul- this set is quite impressive but Granada studios was better even though the street was smaller it had character to it - thanks for the video it was interesting to watch 👍
Good presentation of CORONATION STREET, of course the soap opera it's not as good as the 1960/70s, but then nothing is today... That said, I was lucky to get out in 1976 and work some 40-years in HOLLYWOOD at various studios, but namely Universal and 20th Century-Fox. Among other duties I was studio historian for both iconic studio lots. I've always been fascinated by movie/TV locations and sets, and was lucky enough to work on them... The EASTENDERS set in Borehamwood was right in the middle of suburbia, whereas this studio is on industrial estate. This aerial view kind of breaks the "fourth-wall" like the aerial shot in BLAZZING SADDLES where the camera pulls back from the western street over to a Warner Brothers soundstage! MEDIA CITY kind of like STUDIO CITY where I live close to in Los Angeles... can well imagine the views of shooting you get from those apartments, and I bet the rent reflects that, but no palm trees in Manchester!
I always thought when they relocated the street to Salford that they should have had a storyline in which Mary entered a competition, as we all know she loved doing around that time, and won a makeover for the street she lived on. They could’ve then showed off a spanking new set instead of having to dirty it up as they did for continuity purposes. Would’ve been funny if only the Duckworths refused any update to their precious stone cladding.
I applaud the shows lasting existence however after the 1st 40 years it really went south when you had no reason to. I’m surprised it wasn’t cancelled with the twin towers
@ I’m afraid I don’t know what OBL is. The .. company? Anyway, I mentioned the World Trade Centre simply because it was around that time (I think) that it started to deteriorate

Just to let you know you could probably get better angle shots of the street with a drone. Just make sure the drone is under 250grams and you're in a public property to launch it.
I spent the last year watching the entirety of the 1980s, well, i'm up to 1989 i believe. I tried watching recent episodes, it's just not the same. It completely lacks the light heartedness of how it used go be and i really dislike the product placements. Shame.
@HowardMay-u2z One slight thing that got me is when Spider returned. There was a line where he referenced Les having been typically r*** back in the day. Watching classic CS though, as you mentioned, it certainly isn't the case. His boss is Lloyd and there's nothing whatsoever. So what's the reason for rewriting fictional history? Just to push their agenda!
Was better when the episodes were 30 mins long. Each episode now has a few members of cast who spend the whole episode popping up in either the pub, cafe or other random places for no reason whatsoever just to fill time
Used to watch it back in the day when we had 5 channels, now we have hundreds, loads of apps, the Internet and online gaming, rather watch real life people who I can learn from than soaps but it was a groundbreaking show, Trafford Park such a ghastly bleak place 😂

Impressive? They never go on location and it shows in how repetitive the show is.
@ I just meant impressive in terms of utilising space. Never thought the car park, hospital or prison scenes were shot on site for example.

Ta so much for the lovely video! XX
Thanks 😀😀
@@markbriscoe1971 Do you know the exact location of the old set please as I can't seem to find it on maps ?
How good is the camera what one are you using ? , When i visited i went to warm museum they have a platform where you can look into the set
I grew up watching this show, when it was good. They really should’ve brought it to an end on its 50th anniversary.
original perspective , nice ...media city
You can tell it’s by the water, it’s always blustery in the street now.
Where’s rovers return
I only watch the classics coronation st now

When did terrorists move in? 5:12

Would've been cool to have the real trams running through the set, give people a glimpse and add some realistic background!

0:45 don’t you mean weathy county stadium 😉 😂
Strange people are driving and walking past one of the most famous streets in the world after Downing street and Baker street.

That why brookside was special real houses , away from the studio, Corrie is right next door to ITV
I don’t watch no more because it more like the Bill
corry used to film around Manchester now it's all in one place. Taken all the reality out of it. that's why I don't watch soaps anymore

Do people realise how many times they say errr and erm when talking 🤣🤣
@@Anythinggoes-1999 When you’re recording off the cuff whilst filming, there’s only so much you can do about it!
“That grey bit “…sorry it’s all grey.
Coronation Street is absolutely rubbish now !! It’s starting going downhill around 4 years ago 😢I would rather watch reruns of classic Corrie on ITV 3
Yes, the wkoeness of the casting hit a new high 4 years ago. Unwatchable. 😢
So true, a total rot of once was made by Mancunians to represent what Manchester actually was like!!

Used to be good, now it's rubbish - special effects and flashback episodes have ruined it.
Corrie lost its way a long time ago it went woke.
So much violence
All these soaps are dire 😂

Sad these two are
My street is more entertaining than this shit last 10years
Gave up watching after the first episode. Not really true to life.
Trafford wharf looks nothing like it use too. I use to know my way rounf trafford park. Dont even recognise it anymore.
Nice video but it could have been better without the swishing camera movements 🫨
