- Istanbul, Turkey ain't the one, I can't stand the place.
We're staying on the Asian side and it's one of the worst places we've been in a long time.
The Kadikoy/Moda area is just nothing but overpriced trendy rubbish.
To escape we headed to a local market which was actually pretty decent and affordable.
After we tried a few Turkish foods which were alright at best. If I'm being honest Turkish food is overpriced and bang average, we ain't the biggest fans.
Again, Istanbul Turkey ain't the one for us.

We stayed in a nice little apartment and didn't really go out we had a chill! Looks lovely i will save it!

Hey guys nice video! liked the fresh market/shopping/waterfront...buffet food was delish & cheaper than fish/Chips in UK..what did you cook with the groceries?? Greek church was so beautiful...shame though that folks painted graffiti/put cat boxes on the church outer walls, so disrespectful!😞
The market was actually pretty good! We just made some random bits like pastas, shakshouka etc to fill us up! Yeah the church was very nice!!

I was in istanbul years ago, I did not enjoy it tbh. Too busy, loads of scammers and nothing special to see.

Egypt is cheaper, but you will get ripped off and end up paying more (because your a tourist).
Ok I have an even better IG poser story for you from the island of Camino. A young man spent over 30 min taking photos of his pineapple drink with the ocean in the background, the drink with him, the drink with him and the ocean, etc my husband andI watched in amusement at this guy who was obviously to the stunning scenery and the complete absurdity of what.he was doing. Then there were the young ladies on the picturesque Samilan islands where instead of taking the experience in the were posing repetitively, bossing their boyfriends around tobget props and change their clothes lol
They are on a different planet aren't they, I should start dedicating little segments to em ahah we see it so often taking photos for up to like 45 minutes then after they have the pics they just leave?! What the heck?!
I love Istanbul and usually prefer to stay in Kadikoy. And I would say Im a lot more similar to you than some hipster. Surprised by your takeaway of the area!
Think we had some serious reverse culture shock mate aha and feeling like we were back in Manchesters northern quarter sent us over the edge! We like our old school stuff! Different strokes for different folks they say!
@EllisWR I was also thinking maybe it's due to the fact that you've just come from visiting some other very interesting/remote locations, so perhaps it pales in comparison.
Yeah that's the one it felt miserable and reminded us of home. The silly prices and everyone being a grumpy sod. We're too old school need to get out in the small town aha

I've never seen a gentrified area like that with so much graffiti on the buildings. Also, you got me with the Abergine and actually learned something from you food related. Blew my mind; but then, I am not an Eggplant fan and have never heard it called Aubergine. A few firsts for me in this video, lol.

Honestly dad gives money to who ever “needs” he just feels bad walking away, story time so 2 years ago we went on a family trip to turkey and we went to baśiktaś (sounds >ś< sh) in Istanbul we went to the ferry station to see the Bosphorus bridge and we had an hour to wonder around before the trip so we decided to go to the mosque near by to pray so on the way to the mosque we see a girl with her brother on the street getting rubbish bags out of the bin and picking out the food in the trash bags btw that scene hit me hard cuz in Australia I don’t see any of that so then dad gives them 100tl each and this one apparently local man hopped in saying “no no no don’t give them they’re liars I saw them few days ago eating at a kebab shop and shopping like normally” obviously the man was speaking Turkish but since I’ve learnt Turkish as a 3rd language I helped to translate so back to the story the man took dad away and told him if I see you giving them money im gonna call the police on both of yous, as tourist we don’t need trouble in a country we don’t know it’s laws so we walked away but others just keep hopping out in front of dad so obviously dad wouldn’t stop giving them

The market was cool, but the moda area we really dislike. Maybe other parts of Istanbul are better.
@@EllisWR Yes, Moda is the trendy district, dunno why you guys stayed there. You should've stayed where I used to live Tarlabasi, you would have loved it. Most Turks are too scared to even walk in that neighborhood, but I lived there and it was awesome. Down home folks. if you go back at any point, suss it out.

Kadykoy is one of the best neighbourhoods in Istanbul and I love it there it’s very laid back. People don’t runaround like rats like they do in London.
Each to their own I guess! For me it's just a trendy, overpriced and super gentrified area. Could be anywhere in the world!

Doesn’t matter what place in Turkey they will always overcharge you just because you’re not Turkish. I’ve been in turkey, for a couple months and that was my worst experience, racist, and overpriced everywhere.

Saying out loud that someone has a bad breath several times, saying in that lunch restaurant or whatever it was that the chicken looks like dog food.. there’s plenty of examples in the video. The chicken looked like plain chicken breast which is my dogs favourite meal. I don't know when I said about bad breath, but if someone did smell it's fine to say it aha just a laugh. It was the worst vacation I’ve taken , I was there for a month .
Horrible greedy uneducated closed minded people who were gifted a beautiful city , as soon as they notice a foreigner and I mean anybody that’s not from turkey or Istanbul they see $ instead of guests and that guests have to be treated nicely .
I’m from Iraq and I will never invest another dime to see turkey again !
