I use a non-toxic, plain white craft glue called Aleene's Tacky Glue. It takes a bit to get used to using it, but it has proven over thirty years to be non-acidic and long-lasting.

Do you trim out with thin lines all of the collage pieces between the connecting piece like you did the turtle?
Could you explain about your glue your using, I have been using Steam-A-Seam but there a odor that is coming from it and it give me headaches.
