Just wonderful. Your whole presentation is excellent. Your camera is in the perfect position. Just like l am standing right beside you. Well done. Best presentation 👌 ever. Thank you so much for posting.
Absolutely beautiful 😍. I have never attempted quilting but have been a mixed media artist for years and you have inspired me to attempt a fabric/painting collage.
Thank you so much for showing the whole process. Obviously one needs to have a solid color theory foundation to be able to play with the fabric in that way. I am so happy you recommended the use of "steam a seam"! I will use it in the future.
So helpful. I’m new to this. Just getting ready to start a project and you showing how you design the colors n the way you approach the whole project so very helpful
Just amazing. Your video is easy to follow along and very informative. Your work is fabulous plus you’ve taken out some of the fear to do collage quilts. Thank you!
Your work is absolutely stunning. I just found your channel and I’m hooked. I’m no quilter, but I am obsessed with paper collage and also painting and hand stitching, so this is very interesting to me. Thanks for the inspiration
Thanks, Emily! Great video tutorial on the June quilt. You make it look so easy. I love how you finished the edges. I've ordered mine. Can't wait to get it and get started.
Was really beaut to see this as I've never done collage patchwork. Thank you for taking the time to show us your work, I loved it. Hope by now your covid situation has improved significantly. I'm from Canberra, Australia so have been very fortunate.
Loved the video! I wish you explained why you placed the fabrics in the flower in the sequence shown in the tape. It looked like you were trying to create different shadows or depth to the flower. Would it have worked if you placed a different sequence of the same colors?
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I purchased your cardinal digital design and I plan on Purchasing the gray background print of June Bloom because I believe it will make this easier Especially after seeing this tutorial. Thank you you are multi talented
Great video....I especially love how you demonstrated this from beginning to end. I will be ordering your digital pattern. Thanks so much for doing this.
Wow gorgeous love how you collaged the binding and finished the back too with that perfect ribbon.....have you ever turned your collage into a bag??? Look like soooo much fun thx for showing us your process!!!
I like your process. I would be very interested to see how you did the centre of the large flower and what fabrics you used to get that lovely and life like effect 💐
Love your June Bloom. As a new and first time collage quilter, willing to try something new. Can I purchase your June Bloom as a kit? I love all your fabrics.
Thank you! We don't have a kit specifically for June Bloom, but our fabric bundles are made specifically for patterns like June Bloom. You can find them all here and use code BUNDLEMYBUNDLES for 20% off one when you buy three - collagequilter.com/collections/fabric-2
Just beautiful! Where did you get the fabric for the center of the large flower? The fussy-cut “stamen” looking things. Do you feel a beginner could do this? Thanks for all you do and share!
Thank you! Yes, this is appropriate for a beginner- especially if you use fussy-cut fabric like I did. The center of the flower is from a Kaffe Fasset fabric, although I don't remember the name of the piece or the fabric collection. Philip Jacobs (a designer in the Kaffe Fasset Collective) designs many beautiful floral patterns that are fun to use to fussy-cutting!
Great question! While I haven't done that, I'm sure it would work. You might want to use a raw canvas, rather than one that has been prepared with gesso. I don't know how the adhesive with react with a canvas prepared to paint. The best way to find out is to try it!
Fabulous. Just wondering, why do you scag the back of the little pieces and how do the little pieces stick onto the vertical pattern?. Im a beginner 😁 . Thank you
Hi Claire~ I scratch the back of the piece to peel the paper from the fusible that I've applied to the back of the fabric. The fusible that I use (Lite Steam a Seam 2) is double sided and has a temporary adhesive on the back so that it will stick to the foundation pattern.
Fun video! I ordered two different patterns of yours to try collage quilting. Question: can you take off the paper from the steam a seam on the whole piece you prepared vs each cut by cut? In theory it should reduce the slight edge fray and need for re-trimming.
You can purchase color bundles that offer a spectrum of each color from light to dark on my website: collagequilter.com. There are 18 pieces of fabric that are 1/8 yard cuts. The pink and green are perfect for this quilt!
Yes- this is a "Foundation Panel" pattern, which means the design is printed on the fabric. This guides fabric selection and fabric placement. My other type of pattern is a "Parchment Pressing" pattern, which is made without a foundation panel. If you purchase on my website, it will say whether the pattern is a foundation panel or parchment pressing pattern.
I wanted to purchase it as digital download but it wasn’t available. I also put both my physical and post office address to ship to Puerto Rico which is a USA territory and it won’t ship here. I need help I was going to pay via PayPal.
Great question! There are several ways to hang a quilt... (which would probably make a great video). Sometimes I create a hanging sleeve. Other times I simply hang my quilts with thumbtacks or with a poster hanger.
No problem! No, if you are working with one of my paper patterns rather than one that has been printed on the foundation fabric, simply trace the design onto a piece of lightweight cotton fabric by hanging it in a window. Then you will adhere the fabric pieces to the cotton following the traced design.
@@CollageQuilter I understand what you are saying, but wonder about the shading within the outlines. that would be lost - Did Emily iron her final piece to the paper pattern? if so did she peel the whole thing off like a sticker to remove the paper, or is the paper left inside the quilt?
Hi Glenda~ If you are working with the paper pattern, simply trace the design onto a piece of lightweight cotton fabric by hanging it in a window. Does that answer your question?
I'm intrigued! Thanks for the video! 🌸☀️🏵️
Just wonderful. Your whole presentation is excellent. Your camera is in the perfect position. Just like l am standing right beside you. Well done. Best presentation 👌 ever. Thank you so much for posting.
Thank you very much!

Ps. I like your ‘working music’ too! I played the bells in junior high school band so it’s a very pleasant and familiar sound! ☺️
Awesome! Thank you!
This tutorial was so helpful...didnt even know where to start..but I do now ! love what you did on the edges too ! Love your color choices !!!
Glad it was helpful!

Beautiful work, for me is a collage tapestry. The colours compliment the design and each other. Really enjoyed your tutorial.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for this tutorial which was extremely well done and informative. I like the way you did the edges and the back. Thanks again.
I bought this pattern. I wish I had watched you first but I still LOVE this process! Thank you!

Beautiful
I like your process. I would be very interested to see how you did the centre of the large flower and what fabrics you used to get that lovely and life like effect 💐
The center of the flower is fussy cut from a Kaffe Fasset fabric I believe.
GORGEOUS ❤ How do you hang your piece on the wall?
Thank you
Yes, me too. When, how, did you remove the paper pattern after you placed the fused fabric on top ???
Maravilloso 😍

The flowers are beautiful.
I'm new to this. What does fussy cut mean?
How do you hang it? Do you sew rings for hanging or frame it or?
Nevermind! I found the video on hanging collage quilts!
I don’t understand where you took it off the paper pattern? Did you? Or where you positioning the fabrics onto a printed fabric pattern? Thank you
Me too! I’m confused where the paper goes? Stays on or off?
@@jnieswartz4878 me too. I think the paper pattern stayed in the quilt.
I also want to know if the paper stayed in the quilt.
I don’t think she was using paper. I think the pattern was actually printed on cotton that stays sandwiched in the final product.
She’s not using paper. The pattern is printed onto the fabric backing that is much larger.
Usas pegante para sostener las piezas o usas papel con pegante grcias

Could the fabric be adhered to a prepared canvas that is normally for painting?
Great question! While I haven't done that, I'm sure it would work. You might want to use a raw canvas, rather than one that has been prepared with gesso. I don't know how the adhesive with react with a canvas prepared to paint. The best way to find out is to try it!
If you were to do your own design what type of material would you use to sketch the outline of pattern on?
Fabulous. Just wondering, why do you scag the back of the little pieces and how do the little pieces stick onto the vertical pattern?. Im a beginner 😁 . Thank you

Try it and see if that works for you!
How do you hang these beautiful works of art?
I make a small inlet ( like a wide hem) on top.
Do you have any batting in the layers?
Yes, I like to use thin batting- Hobbs 80/20 is one of my faves.
How did you hang or mount?
I actually hung this with thumbtacks in the wall! But I have a few tricks about hanging quilts that I will share in another video ;)
I would VERY much love to be able to buy a kit for this piece. Is that something you would consider offering?
You can purchase color bundles that offer a spectrum of each color from light to dark on my website: collagequilter.com. There are 18 pieces of fabric that are 1/8 yard cuts. The pink and green are perfect for this quilt!
Beautiful pattern and end result. Is the pattern made of fabric? Is it typical to have a fabric pattern , if a quilt pattern of yours is ordered?
Yes- this is a "Foundation Panel" pattern, which means the design is printed on the fabric. This guides fabric selection and fabric placement. My other type of pattern is a "Parchment Pressing" pattern, which is made without a foundation panel. If you purchase on my website, it will say whether the pattern is a foundation panel or parchment pressing pattern.
What kind of iron are you using? (The big one.)
Currently I am using an Oliso iron. It's good, but I'm on the hunt for the hottest, steamiest iron known to man. I'll let you know when I find it :)
@@CollageQuilter I hope you find one. I haven’t had much luck with any steam irons.
Is the gray scale pattern on paper or fabric?
Beautiful! I do not understand what you are adhering the scraps onto? Is that a piece of material (with the pattern on it)?
Yes, the June Bloom patterns comes with a pre-printed grey tone panel that acts as your guide and foundation.
I wanted to purchase it as digital download but it wasn’t available. I also put both my physical and post office address to ship to Puerto Rico which is a USA territory and it won’t ship here. I need help I was going to pay via PayPal.
Thanks for letting me know! I'm sorry for the difficulty-- USPS is the worst :/
Beautiful work!!! This is so awesome. What material is the pattern on?
Thank you! The design is printed on 100% cotton poplin.
Will the June Bloom Kit be available again?
Hopefully, June Bloom will be available again next week!
Are you adding your fabrics onto a paper pattern, or is that fabric? If it’s fabric, how do you get the pattern on it?
This is a foundation panel and the design has been printed in shades of gray onto the cotton. This guides fabric selection and fabric placement.
@@CollageQuilter is it a special kind of fabric? I love the way you do collage - I need to check out your web site.
How do you hang it.
Great question! There are several ways to hang a quilt... (which would probably make a great video). Sometimes I create a hanging sleeve. Other times I simply hang my quilts with thumbtacks or with a poster hanger.
how do you hang a project like this?
There are a couple ways to hang your finished quilt... I'll make a video to teach you a couple things you can do!
This is so beautiful! Thank you for the video. What kind of batting do you use? It doesn't look like a high-loft batting?
80/20 :)
No Batting or back piece?
Sound is being interrupted, and a bit muted she sounds far away. Does the fabric come in the kit?
Sorry about the technical issues! No- the fabric is not included, only the pre-printed foundation panel.
What is fuzzy cut or fussy cut? Thanks
Fussy cutting means cutting out elements of a fabric, like cutting out a flower or leaf.
Your patterns are on paper so do you put paper in the Quilt? Or is this a step I missed or are you using something besides paper? I am confused sorry.
No problem! No, if you are working with one of my paper patterns rather than one that has been printed on the foundation fabric, simply trace the design onto a piece of lightweight cotton fabric by hanging it in a window. Then you will adhere the fabric pieces to the cotton following the traced design.
@@CollageQuilter I understand what you are saying, but wonder about the shading within the outlines. that would be lost - Did Emily iron her final piece to the paper pattern? if so did she peel the whole thing off like a sticker to remove the paper, or is the paper left inside the quilt?
what brand iron are you using? I know it might sounds silly question, but sometime it plays important role in collage quilting
Why do you need to score the fabric with a pin?
You don't score the fabric, just the paper from the Lite Steam a Seam 2. Scoring it allows you to peel it off easily ;)

How do you get the pattern to your base fabric?
Hi Glenda~ If you are working with the paper pattern, simply trace the design onto a piece of lightweight cotton fabric by hanging it in a window. Does that answer your question?
Mi
really nice! Quick question about fusible - doesn't it "gum up"your needle or cause skipped stitches?
Barbara Buettner Not if you use the lightweight kind.
really enjoyed the video, but the background music is annoying.
Haha! I have to agree, thank you for your feedback!
