Frank Sobotka let his son down and failed him in a big way. Instead of focusing on his child, he focused entirely on the docks. He didn't want to be the last union boss on the docks before everything went to hell, so he did his best to help the union and the working stiffs - completely ignoring his son. Ziggy is a fucking tragedy.
+coldgottobe The thing is, his intentions were good. He was trying to help everyone: him, his family and his union workers. However, like Beattie told him before he snitched, she said 'there are different kinds of wrong' and he did it. Also, on top of all that, he made a HUGE mistake involving his family in his dirty business. I understand why he did what he did, but involving your family? Very stupid. He destroyed himself and his family.
It was a generational thing from the sound of it. Frank’s older brother says at the end they each should have paid more attention to their boys. But they worked the docks and instead of going home to their families they drank at the bar and hung out with the other union guys.
I don't think the Greek is. But did you know there are hundreds of thousands of ethnic Greeks and millions of mixed ones in ex Soviet block? There were millions of pure ones up untill end of communism.
No hatin here but Nicky was probably the only main cast character whose actor's performance I really disliked. Zig on the other hand was absolutely superb, the writers did him good.
Couldn't stand Nick. Real chip on his shoulder. Demanding entitled rude. Never learned a thing. Shows up in season 5 still crying about the docks. Move the fuck on.
I dislike Frank's actor performance way more - always the same expression and look on his face no matter what the situation is, always yelling at everyone whether it's his son Ziggy who's lost and does stupid shit, or his co-workers for an argument, or Spiros bc he shows up without the Greek... It's like this guy lives his entire life in one mode (there are a few scenes where he's different but it's v limited) I'm in the middle of a rewatch atm so that helps pointing out specific items haha
Nick won that argument.
do you know an f-ing moron like ziggy? i do. you just dread to hear from or about them, i swear
samuel muiruri Well said

Ziggy wasn't exactly a teenager

I like Nicky. All the stevedore characters were great in season 2.
I love how normal frank is until nick said '' it's ziggy'' and he changes into wtf is it this time lol only to find out the dark fate of he's son

Thanks for sharing looks like a good movie! Thumbs up from Dublin (Ireland)! :)
It's a TV series, you should give it a watch
It’s called “The Wire” and it’s the best American television show ever made.
Hello, yellowfolder. it is actually riveting video. thanks. :)
probably my favorite scene.. that or where's Wallace
Both are great scenes.
I'm a fan of Nick's wife's tits scene myself, but this is pretty good too.

I really liked Nick. Zig was very well written but annoys the living bejeezus out of me.
