I love 99% of DIY Detail products and enjoy 99% of the videos I watch. The 1% I don't like is the ceramic coating applicator pad. It feels like something is rubbing the inside of my brain when I hear it being used. I say this in all appreciation to all ya'll do. Thumbs up to the video today.
Can you explain the process if the vehicle has a partial ppf (just the front of the hood and a bit below)? Do we tape off the ppf part? I plan on getting it removed. Or should I wait for removal? Thanks.
My car is a 6 year-old Jetta. I’m washing outside. A. Do I need to apply a surface preparation cleaner before I start? 2. Do I need to use a clay lubricant? 3. Thanks, Riick
This is probably the best single car detailing video I have ever seen. Imagine if you knew nothing and watched this. All you’d need is one on using the polisher and you’d have exterior essentially handled.
@@diydetailofficialamazing quality and quantity of info in only 30mins. I’m aware of longer videos just showing how to tape before polishing. You know who I’m talking about 😉
Great tips on the iron remover as most of the cars I see are hammered and covered in iron particles. I love the way DIY designed the products to work and patience is rewarded. The iron remover cleans incredibly well but it is not going to eat a four course meal within fifteen seconds. The Subaru looks amazing and now she is protected. Thank you for the video and I hope your shop is coming along as planned.
Thanks guys! I am learning so much about washing cars - and I had no idea all that is involved. I am looking forward to getting started on restoring my "new" 2016 car I bought that needs some TLC. And by the way, I just traded in my 2013 Subaru white 3.6R Outback like the car you're working on for my first Beemer.
Two months ago I coated my car with another product. The other product is not performing well. Do you have a video showing how to remove an old coating? I would like to use your 5 year coating.
So I just got done coating our 2023 Wagoneer carbide edition with the 8 Year and for anyone who says they can’t coat there vehicle with one bottle… definitely installer issue. I barely used half the bottle and did all the windows and painted surfaces and still have half the bottle left. You can probably get away with coating 2 full sized vehicles with 1 30ml bottle using the foam applicator. The foam applicator is key definitely. Prime the pad and after that 3-4 drops per panel and your good 👍 Yvan/Nick great product very happy with the installation and results. I’m very happy to be installing your products for my clients 🙏
I have a neighbor that has black spots on his vinyl top of his cheep. What do I use to get rid of them. It appears to be chemical fallout from work. He works at a plant that makes tires and have a lot of carbon black.
I know we wash top down as lower parts of vehicle are dirtiest, but because all grit was removed after 1st foam and rinse, can you safely go panel to panel top to bottom on each panel or should you save lower parts for last.
Yvan and Nick, thank you for all your hard work and contributions to the detailing industry! On that note do you have an updated SOP for your exterior/interior processes?
For any car colour if the ceramic coating sweats it makes it waaay easier to know when you are ready to level in my opinion so that would be a tip for a slight change to the coating if you do a revision I would suggest 😊
Our chemistry is not compatible with the carrier solvents that cause sweating. Also coatings that sweat require more coating to be applied to the surface.
Many sweating coating installers swear by the mantra, put it on wet, and let it sweat. In order for the solvent carrier to bead, there needs to be a sufficient amount of it on the surface.
Yes it can, you should feel the decontamination towel / clay bar / clay mitt glide and not grab on the paint. If it's grabbing you might need to give the tool another spray 👍
@Yessolution37 oooo that's actually a good point, the synthetic "clay" material is something I haven't tried with it yet, so if it reacts with it then maybe using Optimum FerreX I know works with synthetics. Thanks for helping to clarify! 🙏
Great demo as always, guys! Quick question: when it gets warmer, I'm planning to apply "the stack" to my wife's 2024 Mazda CX-5. The paint is thin. I mean *THIN*. All I plan to do is use the red jeweling pad and the GS polish. However, I don't have a rotary. I plan to use it on my Adams Polishes 9mm short throw DA. Would this still work, and what speed should I set it on? Thanks!
future video idea - how to correct or treat swirls or paint scuffs on a DIY ceramic coated car - Is there anything we can do post ceramic treatment to address this without having to remove the coating and re-coat before the 3,5 or 8 year coating needs to be replaced?

Great tip on the indentation of the towel meaning we are too soon 💪. NOT ALL BRUSHES ARE CREATED EQUAL!!!

👍🏾Another awesome demonstration by Nick and Yvan with tips and tricks for efficiency.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Drink every time Yvan says “exactly”. On second thoughts, don’t 😂
That might lead to alcohol poisoning
Keep these videos coming! Its hyping me up for when my products arrive 🎉

No difference, both PPF and clear coat are plastics

Do I need to polish a car after a professional fresh paint job or just use a ceramic coating. How long should I wait after the paint job?
No need to polish, consult the painter for delays.
Awesome vid!!
Great tips as always 👌
Glad you like them!

Would a mineral deposit wash after the iron decontamination process be advantageous before coating?
Yes
Great detailing job with lots of nuggets, thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Great Video and most helpful tips and tricks . I noticed when you pressure washed there was a green tip on the gun . Is that just a personal choice .?
Yes
After using a clay block, you have to polish. Do you have to polish after using your decontamination towel if you use it as you have here?
Polishing is optional
Great video guys. That decon towel / spray really is a combo i intend to invest in.
Thank you

We have one coming up
But to help now, simply polish.
Should I use metal ceramic on powder coated metals? (Roof rack, Nerf steps) or is the regular 3,5 or 8 year coating ok?
No use it only on raw metal.
This Video is great because you choose the most diffcult color to coat and educate.
Thanks

I try to respect the top down method just in case

Hi Yvan, thanks for all your tips.
with cleaning your pad with lakecountry pad washer do you use rinseless wash ?
Yes DIY Detail Rinseless Wash
Love all of DIY’s products. Should I use the gold pad or jeweling pad on a brand new car when doing a pre coating polish?
The Red Jeweling pad should suffice

We are working on that.
I didn't notice Ivan applying coating to the black plastic along the door bottom. Any reason not to apply there?
Editing, we did it after.
What if a paint is to thin can still use gold standard and waffle pad to just add gloss and not remove anything. If so how go about that
Yes
