Do appreciate Yvan's honesty about the products and their use and the realistic approach to detailing. Something I have been trying to tell people for years but people keep pushing for the perfect finish thinking the nano coating your putting on top will take the place of your OEM clear coat. Your OEM clear is your best defense folks. Preserve it. Once thing that really helps as well is Good Lighting. You really need good lighting when your working on a car and you also need a clean environment. Not ideal for mobile detailers, but for the DIY'ers out there you need a clean, lit environment. Take your time. Have realistic expectations. Your enhancing, not really correcting. Keep it simple. Use what works for you.
I pay attention when watching your detailed videos. Ivan, you know what you are talking about when you get into it. I find it very refreshing when somebody knows what they're talking about. I can relate to your statement about automobile procedures because I've worked as a skilled tradesman at an assembly plant. But I need to become an expert in detailing and want to learn. Thank you, Ivan
I’m addicted to your channel. May I recommend a video idea. “Polishing with a 50 dollar Amazon polisher”. I know you’ve done a one with a sander but this is something a little different t. Most people don’t and can’t purchase the expensive ones. Just a thought…love the content.
hey guys, sometimes in my interior details, I come across some very funky glass. Lately I have been just using your rinseless wash to clean them, but what do you think about using all clean at a 30 to 1 dilution first to cut the heavier grease and grime and then follow it with crystal clear or rinseless wash? Thank you.
To answer Yvan's question, for now it's a 2019 Corvette ZR1 prefer a deep royal blue metallic paint, chrome or polished wheels, Black interior with deep blue stitching, and engine built to my preference. I just prefer the 6.2l v8 over the current, and at least for me there is something about that body style I love. Oh, and great information by the way 😁
The comment at the very end of “Ask the customer if a dog is coming back in here” has saved me soooo much time and headache. That should have been the number one takeaway from the video 😂
If panel prep is a great glass cleaner, is there any advantage to having a separate glass cleaner at all or could one just rely on rinseless / panel prep?
Or be like me and polish with your 3mm stroke random orbital sander for some gloss enhancement and verrry light correction heh (just remember to disassemble and deep clean if you've used for sanding wood before, and remove the brake so it can free spin). Side note, I recall it being mentioned in previous DIY videos but not explicitly stated here, IIRC if you are going to polish trim with the system, stick with the gold waffle pad. I believe it's still not advised to polish trim with the wool pad. Finally, an ode to the PSD Towel paired with DIY Iron Remover. I have done this process; it is lubricious, and time & product efficient. Did my daily driver before the winter hits here in Canada, and it was the most efficient and effective upgrades to chemically and mechanically decontaminating clear coat. All in one step and only using about 1/6th of the 16oz bottle of product. One of the best combos out there.
Thank you guys, for sharing your knowledge. I have learned alot . My question is, I applied interior ceramic, but i left it kinda glossy and am not happy with how it looks. How can I remove it. To Do it again?
Apply it but wipe immediately. There’s nothing in DIY Detail Interior Ceramic Coating to create gloss. It may have lifted resins from a previous dressing to the surface.
@@diydetailofficial is there a way to remove it ? Yvan has changed my mentality. Glossy panels mean dirty panels . I will like to go back to matte finish if posible. Thanks again for all of your help.
I get some minor holograms with the gold standard and the yellow waffle pads on my rupes LHR 15 mk3. How can I get rid of them? 2019 ram 1500. I did not cut with a rotary or wool pad, just the rupes yellow and then the gold standard waffle pad
Yes fun in detailing u got assess the car. It’s a nice car. Is it a beater car? Is it a car that use once in a while and find out what they expect do they want all these spots clean spotless perfect and then you charge a lot on that car if they don’t expect you to get every spot out as long as it looks nice and clean and you charge a little less all those things help and pricing and making your customer happy and making it less stressful on your end too and think if I did it right or not
cheap da is no good, with it stalling especially. But Id assume cheap rotary is fine because it just needs to spin, plus the jeweling pad doesnt have much friction either. Its just expencive da makes sense, and rotary 3 times the price of a cheap one doesnt. What do you think of that?
Thank you for an amazing teaching experience, guys! Nick, cutting things down and making it simple for new users to really understand and get "under the hood" kind of experience and understanding the terms that Ivan are using. Yvan, with his 40+ years of experience explaining how sh*t works out in a humble way. You are a great pair, you two! I have a Q for you guys: How do I know when there's enough lubrication if the dilution-ratio from factory defaults/recommendations is inaccurate? F.ex. if you as me, live in an area with hard water (calcium levels are high). Should the wash mitt I'm using glide without friction on the car, I mean, is the idea of having a feeling there's enough lube accurate or how do I know there's enough lube onto the surface? I just don't want to necessarily over-spend product. Best thoughts from a detailing guy in Denmark 😁 (almost 1 year of subscription) 😎
Hey guys, i recently purchased a Shinemate DA. In the manual, it mentions to use speed 5 and 6 with a soft pad for "a high gloss finish". I dont think ive ever gone past 3 or 4 on my DA's. I emailed shinemate about this but never got a response. Whats your thoughts on this? Thx for another great video
I've only used 3.5 on my Adams Swirl Killer 9mm DA which is essentially a white label MaxShine 8mm with additional throw with the gold standard pad and polish with excellent results.
Any tips on reducing water marks / I find even with EGO leaf blower or rinseless Wash (Spray Rinse Spray) methods I am taking ages to get rid of water, feels never ending from cracks and crevices, is it absolutely crucial to be totally dry with your ceramic coatings/steps. I am due to apply the 3 year graphene soon I also have a issue on windscreen with lint/etched in water marks and finding nothing working so far, is a polish with wool pad an option? (I’ve tried magic eraser, 0000 steel wool, glass spray, vinegar) is driving me mad!
Adding that coating youre going to apply, will greatly reduce the drying time. You can flood the panels with water from the hose, get 95% of the water off, then a quick dry with your blower or towel with a drying aid
Can you use the yellow pad on a rotary? Cuts more then the red? I have your rotary/red pad but it didn't cut all the scratches but I dont want to invest in a da. Any issues with holograms vs just the red pad? I had good results with the rotary/red pad except but I would like to remove more scratches then the red pad can.
